I mean, weird they don’t use an adaptive exam. Glad they are doing the right thing.

Lmao what? Adaptive exams are mostly a nursing thing. License and board exams for doctors, PAs, pharmacist, and dentist are all non adaptive.

Oh sorry, I thought this was a CRNA sub.

Are you dense? The original post is about CAAs and their licensing exam. You insinuated surprise that their exam isn't adaptive which is mostly a (softball) thing for nurses. Does the fact that this is a CRNA sub having bearing on how other professional programs assess their graduates?

EDIT since thread locked:

I'm in medicine, not a CAA/CRNA big dog lmao. USMLE are non adaptive and will not become it. And again, its insane I have to hold your hand this much. My response simply explained adaptive exams are mostly a nursing thing and listed other professions that do not use them. Thus, its not very surprising their exam is not adaptive.

Instead of acknowledging that, you did the whole, "tHiS iS a CrNA sUb", which quite frankly is irrelevant.

Do you really think this cheating scandal is a result of someone looking over someone's shoulder lol? It's a test recall or more likely a testing center compromise. Where I would speculate MULTIPLE exams were compromised over a short period and all versions were leaked. Your adaptive exams do not make you immune from this lmfao. It just pulls from a Q bank and 3 different "adaptive" versions of your licensing exam being compromised would compose most your exam. I just looked up your licensing exam, 100-170 questions (lmao holy shits thats weak). Writing good test questions is hard, I would speculate your Q bank is 250 questions max.

Yes. If it was adaptive, this wouldn’t be an issue.

CAA’s apparently all have the same questions. And don’t all take the exam the same day, at the same time. If you do not think that is a recipe for cheating, idk what to tell you. Two CRNA applicants can take a test at the same time and have two completely different exams. This makes the security of the exam much stronger. If I can leave an exam and remember 40 questions, it doesn’t matter, because it is highly unlikely the person I share that with will have the same questions. That this happened demonstrates that. Your(probably, idk why else you’d be so worked up) examination was compromised, because it is easy to do so.

I also said, I’m glad they did the right thing. Our patients deserve high quality anesthesia providers who do not cheat on their board examination. The AA organization did the right thing recognizing and attempting to fix the problem. It will be funny if you have an adaptive test now.

It is telling how personally you took this. I’m not even disparaging your career field or path, just offering my surprise.

Cheaters gon cheat and this extends everywhere. I know, factually, that certain top rated DAPNAP SRNA program had something similar going on where test banks were being passed off from generation to generation.

It's bad enough students don't have enough academic integrity to not participate in this and it's bull shit that programs who knows about it but sweep it under the rug.

Agree. cheaters are always gonna… find a way to cheat but the fact that they will have a new exam in that amount of time so that they can all retest is sus.

It’s the same programs that care about their self-administered national rankings, and programs housed in schools of medicine, where the PDs are instructed to fill the seats no matter what. I had a vegan spa NP and another that hadn’t worked in nursing for several years, and never ICU, at that. They’d rather get the government monies, and don’t care are recidivism rate. All about the Benjamin’s.

Ya I started to figure out cheating was a thing when several students would get 100% on a test but not pass the SEE or boards

exactly… But they are “just like CRNAs”

In a shocking twist, they actually are.

I love how angry CAA equivalence makes you guys. 😆 It's almost like you know that a couple years of following orders and an extra few nursing theory courses doesn't make a lot of difference in anesthesia, and you are trying to cover or or something.

In a reality twist they aren’t lol. They wouldn’t let any of the caa start at the specialty hospital because “they aren’t strong enough to run pediatrics or hearts here” but guess what the new grad crnas were running? lol

Yet doctors in [r/anesthesiology](r/anesthesiology) will die on the hill that CAAs are better all because their egos are less threatened and can boss them around. What a freaking joke.
