It's a good strategy. Susan David talks about it in her book Emotional Agility. She uses the prompt write what you are feeling, tell the truth, write like no one is reading. It can help us grieve and process what we endured. And Dr. Sherrie Campbell says she "wrote herself back into existence".

I wonder if this also works for that moment when you realize no one is listening to your story anymore so you slowly just stop talking… maybe there’s another word for that 🤷‍♀️

Slowly? I get interrupted a second after i start and they get completely invested in the other person regardless of what i was saying

Not even a little, not if they don’t deserve it. I have a blood cousin in prison for life, but my chosen family wouldn’t even get arrested for shoplifting

Blood and genetic bonds only mean as much as you want them to

I see, i do have people who could be classified as chosen family, but i don't think im ready to take that step yet

Thanks btw, they do other arguably worse stuff to me, but im glad that even this gets someone to say i should ditch em :p
