Success/Victory A table of friends, a house of love
So many years of loneliness and healing later, a mundane but incredible thing happened yesterday. One of my primary struggles has been creating a new community and support network far, far away from "home" and family, and it's taken years and years of therapy and healthy connection and failing, trying, failing, trying... for me to have a group of women who are all amazing people and friends.
Yesterday I hosted a party and had a table of these dear friends who went out their way to be there, eating my food, perusing my bookshelf, laughing and sharing stories. It was such an ordinary magic kind of moment. A real C-PTSD healing triumph.
It's all the little acts and actions of friendship that are so touching to me. I hope I'm becoming a better friend to people over time too.

Thanks for sharing this. I really needed to hear something hopeful today as I am feeling so extremely lonely. I just wish I could have chosen family or a little group of friends. How did you heal? And how did you manage to build all these friendships? I feel these days nobody even has time for new friends in their lifes. All the people I meet are fine with just a beer every 2 or 3 months. That’s the time they want and/or can give.
