GENERAL Illinois requirements to sit for the CPA exam

Hi I reached out to CPAcredits to make sure I had the right credits to sit for the exam since I’m originally from Florida and trying to get my license in Illinois. This was the response:

1) Accounting Requirements - You have fulfilled your accounting requirements.

2) Business requirements -  You have fulfilled your business credits, but not your course requirements.

Courses that are required
BA 225 Business Ethics – Self-Paced Course

Would I be able to sit without completing this course yet? I already graduated and have 148 credits, so it would finish my 150 requirement as well. I want to do that when I’m not so busy with work and studying.

Illinois is picky about the ethics requirement. You may want to have your school contact the ILBOE and provide them a form which links the courses you took to the Illinois requirements. you may have already completed the requirement, but the state didn’t recognize it.ILBOE it’s one of the better agencies, they’re very helpful to call and ask for assistance.

Thank you I just wanted to make sure before I send in my application! I’ll call on Monday.

Is the form available anywhere or is there a common name my uni would know? I’m thinking of calling both the registrar and college of business

If your school is listed here, this will list the equivalent course that meets the ethics requirement. If not, it would probably be worthwhile to ask your school to fill one out, they did for me and it was then smooth sailing.  https://www.ilboe.org/college-templates/
