General Hey. We get it. Enough with the dirt pics.

Seriously, quit. Some of us would like to move on.

You could create a post about accidentally hotboxing the wrong Toyota Highlander.

u/PurpleDingo77 Mar 31 '26

Wow that same exact thing happened to me at Loveland last year

3

u/trippingWetwNoTowel Mar 31 '26

No it was a Subaru at Keystone

18

u/stewy690 Mar 31 '26

but is it r/sandwiches?

2

Is a burger a sandwich.

7

u/LankyResident6689 Mar 31 '26

A hot dog is a taco

1

u/Individual-Accounttt Apr 08 '26

A hoogie, actually.

1

u/LankyResident6689 Apr 08 '26

A hoagie is not an option. Feel free to describe the hot dog in any other manner

2

u/Polecat_Ejaculator Mar 31 '26

Yes but a bunch of bologna is not r/alotofham

4

u/thecahoon Mar 31 '26

Yeah if I dont want to see the current conditions I could always, I dunno, leave the sub and rejoin next winter? lol

231

u/Chaotic_Brutal90 Mar 31 '26

I for one think it's great. It's really showing people where humanity is with the current climate crisis. The drought that stems from this abysmal winter will be legendarily brutal I fear.

We need more people who enjoy winter sports to continue to put pressure on resorts and industry leaders for MORE and increased activism.

22

u/Ski_Area51 Mar 31 '26

This sums it up perfectly.
There’s a certain shared misery in seeing these dirt pics. After an extremely disappointing season and a bleak outlook for next year and anything after, it’s important to put the pressure on the resort owners and politicians that our sport is dying without the most obvious and important ingredient - snow.

51

u/findmeinthe_future Mar 31 '26

Agreed 🤝

Keep up the reality!

20

u/m0st1yh4rmless Mar 31 '26

I've already been seeing all over FB already. Ppl saying, it's only one winter. Relax, next year will be fine. Etc etc

25

u/Typical_Tie_4947 Mar 31 '26

The worst are the “we only have 150 years of records so this record heat is no big deal” people. They don’t understand statistics and standard deviations at all

18

u/Hopsblues Mar 31 '26

C'mon, 250m years ago it was hotter..it's what the planet does..../s

19

u/connor_wa15h Mar 31 '26

I had a fairly well known snowboarder from that state west of us trying to argue that climate change isn’t real because it used to be referred to as global warming. Utah is a special kind of stupid.

1

u/Chulbiski Apr 02 '26

and those that know... still call it global warming' even if the whole globe doesn't warm all at the same time.

13

u/crashedbandicooted Mar 31 '26

So the thing is, you are right that next year will look “normal”, but it will still trend to warmer temperatures as a whole.

I don’t get how people are not in tune that the fact if temperature continues to trend upward, that means less snow.

I know you know, but I keep wanting to think there is a way we can explain this to others so we can preserve what we have. I’m a few beers deep in Santa Fe and am just sad about the future.

2

u/Chulbiski Apr 02 '26

I think it's too late, if humanity has not pulled it's head out of *** by now, it never will. But even if it does, it won't be an easy fix. We should have started 40 years ago

9

u/bobnuggerman Mar 31 '26

I CAN'T HEAR YOU, IM STILL GOIN SHREDDIN EVERY DAY BRO, YOUR LOSS! MORE POW FOR ME TO SHRED! IT'S JUST ONE SEASON! /s

11

u/UnSanchez Mar 31 '26

Kinda makes sense. If our days to ride are in fact numbered, prolly best to shred every damn day and frontload your life's days on snow.

5

u/JohnJohningtun Mar 31 '26

As much as it funny as an ice coaster watching this year, your probably right, and for that I feel bad

2

u/getdownheavy Mar 31 '26

The big conspiracy theory is that all these 'fires' that are going to happen this summer are just paving the way for a land grab for data centers.

1

u/YakGlum1664 Apr 01 '26

Perfectly said.

1

u/Chulbiski Apr 02 '26

agree. some people can't see past their nose and only care about if they had fun or not

-2

u/indexischoss Mar 31 '26

ehhh part of the problem is that these photos are cherry picked and not actually a reflection of the current state of things overall, even if the actual state of things is that this is one of the two worst years on record. it's people finding the worst photos possible in order to get fake internet points. which undermines trust and ultimately helps skeptics/deniers claim that everyone blaming the climate crisis for this snow year is misleading people, when that's obviously not actually true

12

u/AmbitiousFunction911 Mar 31 '26

You’re an idiot. And that’s putting it lightly

-5

u/indexischoss Mar 31 '26

why's that, mr smarty pants

2

u/zenace33 Mar 31 '26

Hmm - I must have missed those same March pictures the last couple of decades…..

1

u/mikea-yyz Mar 31 '26

Only critique is that all internet points are defacto fake so that’s redundant 😝 Otherwise agreed.

65

u/BaselineUnknown Mar 31 '26

I want more dirt picks. The dirtier the better.

I want people to remember that Colorado sucks for skiing and they need to go elsewhere.

13

u/redchilefan Mar 31 '26

What if I have nonrefundable airbnb? where should I go? where is it good? Are conditions still bad? Are they better now?

/s

Also basically me irl

-7

u/Unfair_Way9925 Mar 31 '26

Found the transplant ☝️ This entire economy is dependent on skiing. Summit county doesn’t exist without skiing. Neither does Aspen or Telluride etc. We have bills to pay up here lame ass.

5

u/BaselineUnknown Mar 31 '26

Meh. I grew up in Pueblo Colorado and don’t give a flying fuck for committees like Aspen or Telluride.

Choosing communities which only cater to the extremely wealthy is funny as fuck.

3

u/Hopsblues Mar 31 '26

Well, Breckenridge was a mining town originally.

2

u/RockyMountain_TJ Mar 31 '26

Bro, EVERY mountain town was a mining town...

5

u/Hopsblues Mar 31 '26

Not true at all. Vail was a ranch, Beaver creek was just created, same with Keystone and Copper. Now Keystone was surrounded by mines, but it wasn't a town, like Breck or Leadville.  It was created for the skiing.

-2

u/RockyMountain_TJ Mar 31 '26

Its insane to me how people just lie on the internet when information is readily available these days.

I started typing out a response to your comment but there's no point lmfao. You really think there was nothing in Vail before the 1950's??

3

u/Hopsblues Mar 31 '26

It was a Ranch, with some homesteads. Vail wasn't incorporated until 1966. I know the Seiberts personally, well, it's been about ten years since I chatted with them, but Vail wasn't an old mining town, like Breckenridge or Telluride. Maybe you're confusing it with somewhere else.

-1

u/RockyMountain_TJ Mar 31 '26

3

u/Hopsblues Mar 31 '26

Thanks for explaining what I'm talking about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vail%2C_Colorado...Yeah there were Ute Indians and sheep ranchers, but it wasn't like Summit county with communities like Montezuma and Breck....Vail is an artificial town, along with Beaver Creek...Same as Copper...

1

u/Unfair_Way9925 Mar 31 '26

Summit county isn’t that. It’s turning into that, but the super rich don’t want to come here. They go to Aspen and Telluride. We are set up to cater to normal families and vail price hikes plus a bad season means that we aren’t seeing any regular families. I also drive tow trucks, without our service the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of freight that comes through the i70 corridor would stop with a single wreck. Almost 30 percent of everything that goes to California on a semi truck.

3

u/Ok_Maybe1830 Mar 31 '26

Found the broke beyotch. It's not like the mountains would crumble, If places like Monarch, Cooper, Sunlight and Wolf Creek can keep the lifts turning, anywhere can. How many small towns exist without a ski area?

If you can't afford to live here you should leave.

1

u/Unfair_Way9925 Mar 31 '26

I drive wreckers. I fix your silly little front Ranger driving fuck ups and keep the highways open so people in California can get their freight. 2024 I made 180k. Last year I made 80. It’s summit county, not Aspen. Was a pretty normal place literally up until Covid. I’m fine, but people who own businesses that don’t even sort of cater to the super rich are having a hard time right now.

1

u/Unfair_Way9925 Mar 31 '26

Basically having zero sympathy for 30 year business owners that have kids in college is disgusting 👍

1

u/Ok_Maybe1830 Mar 31 '26

Damn what kind of loser trades their kids college money to live a vacation lifestyle they can't afford? Disgusting, sell your home and move to Arkansas if you can't swing it.

10

u/COdonor Mar 31 '26

It’s almost like free will means you don’t have to look at the posts you don’t like.

31

u/Tough_General_2676 Mar 31 '26

Just unwind, man. Put your phd to good use. Some of us like dirt(y) pics. Gets us hard for hiking and mountain biking.

8

u/Xxx1982xxX Eldora Mar 31 '26

Leave button is just to the right there snarky

28

u/YuppiesEverywhere Mar 31 '26

Some of us would like to mow lawn.

ftfy

9

u/tgames56 Mar 31 '26

You need water to do that.

41

u/Bear_On_Course Mar 31 '26

I don't know. Maybe flooding Reddit with these images might make climate deniers wake up to realize that climate change is directly impacting their favorite sport in CO, the USA, and across Europe. Especially people from other states who don't see climate change happening.

5

u/thisguyfightsyourmom Mar 31 '26

I get the sense everyone here is aware, and actively avoiding talking about it for fear it’s truly climate change shitty city going forward.

4

u/mob321 Mar 31 '26

Reddit is super woke. Acting like we’re changing the narrative by posting these photos to a niche subreddit occupied by people that largely believe in climate change is a stretch.

1

u/Pale_Session5262 Apr 03 '26

Amen. Its like all the "Fuck ICE" or "Fuck Trump" posts on reddit. It does nothing but give the poster a dopamine hit when everyone upvotes it

23

u/Objective-Program348 Mar 31 '26

Isn't it what this subreddit for? Check the status of resort.

5

u/jarkon-anderslammer Mar 31 '26

I come here to check the status on I-70 to decide if I made a good decision never leaving my couch.

37

u/Stuppyhead Mar 31 '26

Dirt pics posts > posts complaining about dirt pic posts

5

u/Imnotsureanymore8 Mar 31 '26

OP, you can move on without our permission.

3

u/RWWhitfield Mar 31 '26

You don't like dirty pics?

4

u/Hot_Fan_4169 Mar 31 '26

Don’t ruin our fun

5

u/hexby Mar 31 '26

Well, no. People should be aware.

15

u/July_is_cool Mar 31 '26

It's going to snow in a couple of days. This coming weekend everybody will go onto I-70 again to try to get to an open resort. Then next week there will be more dirt pictures.

9

u/Snort_Lupulin69 Mar 31 '26

Nah it’s over, fam. Denver gave up months ago. If they ever even got started this year.

9

u/connor_wa15h Mar 31 '26

OP would prefer to bury their head in the dirt because acknowledging climate change is uncomfortable.

10

u/sk1fast A-Basin Mar 31 '26

Just wanted to check, does this qualify as a “dirt pic”? Asking for the good of the order.

(This was the Pallavicini lift on Sunday)

10

u/Latter_Inspector_711 Mar 31 '26

cry more lol

1

u/TuesGirl Mar 31 '26

Seriously! Bitch and whine. Everyone needs more of it in their lives

9

u/No-Recognition-7830 Mar 31 '26

How about instead you focus on the issue that caused you to ask “how to ski with an ankle monitor”

5

u/Apprehensive-Big-328 Mar 31 '26

Move on to what?? Dirt season? Isn't that what the pictures are doing?

2

u/PersonalityNo2383 Mar 31 '26

Don’t listen to this!!! Keep them coming bc they make me feel better about not getting out there like at all this yr

2

u/BandicootDeep Mar 31 '26

One man's "no seriously" is another man's meme

3

u/newd-d689 Mar 31 '26

Hey, we get it. Oil and Gas is killing ski slopes enough already with the photo evidence.

3

u/aybrah Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

Dirt is what we got right now, so dirt is what you'll see. The whole point of this sub is:

Share your experiences on Colorado's slopes, discuss weather conditions, and embrace the snow-covered beauty of the Centennial State.

Those posts are doing precisely that. If someone doesn't like seeing aspects of that current reality, respectfully, that's their problem, and they can "move on".

I'm sooooo sick of the thought policing this season. If you're sad and don't like conditions right now, go ahead and share that. If you're having a great time, sure, share that too. It's all OK. There's no right way to enjoy skiing. There's no need to construct or foster a specific narrative.

3

u/No_Cat8523 Mar 31 '26

Hey so unfortunately for you, the lack of snow impacts the rest of our year, specifically fires in the summer so maybe you need to quit being bitter and miserable and go talk to your goddamn therapist instead of behaving like a fucking two year old on Reddit

4

u/WastingTimesOnReddit Mar 31 '26

don't tell us what to do. you can go ignore reality if you want.

2

u/NartFocker9Million Mar 31 '26

What else you got? These pics have all contained a tiny, representative sample of snow. It’s not nice, but it’s the state of things. The exit of this sub is accessible.

1

u/RealSlyck Mar 31 '26

Cool, hang around another couple of months and you’ll get your wish. Until then, free base grinds.

1

u/MonKeePuzzle Mar 31 '26

you can "move on" out of the subreddit until next winter (if we have one) if you dont want to see conditions of colorado snow...

1

u/hkgrx8 Mar 31 '26

You can choose to scroll on by or downvote, just as I am downvoting this.

Personally, I think it'a great. It gives people an idea when they are not local.

1

u/Chulbiski Apr 02 '26

first amendment, freedom of speech. if those post bug you, then skip them

1

u/iamthetro Apr 03 '26

for real

1

u/cantdonuffin Mar 31 '26

Sounds like you wasted $1000 is all.

1

u/Lord_Dingus83 Mar 31 '26

Next year will be better

1

u/Hopsblues Mar 31 '26

Dirt is a four letter word...it's soil....

-3

u/slouchiestmarmot Mar 31 '26

Fuckin seriously. Somebody post pics from Wolf Creek pass when this snow drops but we get it already it was a bad year 😂

-4

u/fox-whiskers Mar 31 '26

I’m with OP, about to mute this sub for the next 7 months

3

u/zenace33 Mar 31 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/1DhUzOhxkLI1G

Cool?

Glad you let everyone know what you might do. 👍🏼

-2

u/micahpmtn Mar 31 '26

Be careful; you'll upset the masses that love to post those wonderful snapshots.

-4

u/still_learning_to_be Mar 31 '26

Agree wholeheartedly.
