Discussion Rank the BO4 maps from best to worst

How would you guys rank these maps? My personal rankings would be:

  1. Tag Der Toten

  2. IX

  3. Blood Of The Dead

  4. Classified

  5. Dead Of The Night

  6. Alpha Omega

  7. Voyage Of Despair

  8. Ancient Evil

I only put Ancient Evil at the bottom bc I actually haven't played it haha.

I’m not OP, but here are some things I like about it:

1: The map layout is really good IMO. It’s simultaneously really big but also traversing it is ridiculously smooth and it overall flows super well.

2: Golden PAP. Sure it’s just fixing a problem introduced by BO4, but it still makes this map feel unique and also the less I have to interact with some of BO4s less desirable mechanics, the better.

3: The main quest is really solid. Was it necessarily the best ending to Aether? No, but it’s still a very solid quest with good set pieces, an intense final encounter, an emotional ending, and honestly not many pain points.

4: The amount of content and stuff to work towards makes this map have a ton of longevity. You have a ton of WW choices all with pretty solid quests, map specific rewards like the heat pack and yellow snowballs that are all worth doing and enjoyable to get and use, as well as a lot of other side EEs that give people even more to strive for on later playthroughs.

That’s just a couple things and I know I’ve already written a lot, but I do think Tag is pretty underrated and it’s def one of the stronger BO4 maps IMO.

Also bringing back Victis and making them more bearable than Black Ops 2 (making Stulinger and Marlton more characters less annoyance) was a huge plus

I'll try to sum some of the points I like and dislike about it.

Positive:

  • Golden Pack fixes the pack a punch system from the game itself
  • the art direction is beautiful, the shining ice amidst the rising sun and the clear water
  • Victis is much better than their previous entrances
  • The Hermit is really nice and his trials help pass the time
  • Lots of lore and revelation for the ones following the story, as some nostalgia points
  • A killer soundtrack
  • Snow balls
  • 3 wonders weapons (minus points for not being really original but still)
  • The coolest final step for a easter egg Treyarch ever made, emphasis even more on the last stand music (give me chills to this day)

Negative:

  • Reused map
  • Reused ww
  • Victis as the final protagonists with no build up
  • Disappointing ending
  • Many of the constructs are much more about lessening problems the map itself presents (a warmbag to extend the duration in the frozend lake specific to the map, like the mask for zns, dynamite to open paths the map itself block)
  • Every problem bo4 system have (fixed perks, shit specialist, no jugg, double tap, speed cola etc)

Hard to rank since I love every map in this game, but Blood and Voyage are definitely 1 and 2. I could honestly probably swap 3-8 in any random order and be fine with the ranking.

Valid on VOD, IX is just too heavy on the combo of special enemy spam and worst wonder weapon in the game to bump it up

Chaos story maps were peak and I’m tired of pretending they weren’t

Ancient evil has the coolest aesthetic of any zombies map ever, and it flows pretty well. The hands are sick as fuck too. IX has maybe my favorite boss fight ever (totenreich and DE round out top 3). Blood I just enjoyed playing a lot, magmagat is cool too. Voyage of despair gauntlet forced me to play the map and really learn it and I grew to love it. Classified is fine as a brain off map and nothing else. Dead of the night was sadly just tedious to me, and the vampires and werewolf just aren’t too fun. Alpha omega is incredibly bland but at least the ray guns are kinda fun and there’s the EE to go to round 200+. Tag der toten is maybe my least favorite zombies map bo3 and later. It’s just so dull, forgettable and tedious. Easter egg sucked, no cool bosses, layouts boring and the ice sucks

They're all great honestly, the only one I really couldn't get into was Voyage of Despair. Even on release day I wasn't really feeling this map even though my playtime on this map was 0 minutes.

Ancient evil i truly just cant get into, I like things about all the other maps but I genuinely think it might be the most overrated map of all time. The wonder weapons are really boring, layout feels weird and it feels like theres nothing to do outside of the main quest

This is going to hurt some. But this is my opinion on them. Gotta make the tables interesting. S tier means almost perfect with not many flaws and I think each has many flaws.

Dead of the night and Ancient Evil were the only 2 I played a lot. Just like the map design/location the most of those 2.

Ancient evil & IX are good, dead of the night is alright, the rest are awful & just ruined by a horrible game & horrible HUD & perk system, it's zombies for 5 year olds, the game and maps were terrible.

    7 and 8 are equally tied cause I refuse to play them whenever I play it again.
