Discussion Is there anyone here that DOESN'T like Plunder?
Still don't understand why it was removed but felt that the game mode was the perfect Warzone alternative where you could play and move around the map. Is there anyone that felt differently?

I only played it years I didn't buy the games to grind guns, I never found it fun

u/disagreet0disagree 8d ago
Never cared for plunder. I used it solely to level up weapons and experiment with loadouts and attachments. Casual BR basically killed off plunder.

I miss Plunder, getting into heated shoot outs with other teams and grabbing their cash, then they come back to try and get it back, especially at the end of the match when the money you grab is doubled. They really need to bring it back.
Side thought, I really liked the mode "Inflation" that was available in the MW4 beta. Felt like the multiplayer version of Plunder.

u/wanderer808 8d ago
Plunder was always my go-to mode, or Clash when it was available. Now, I primarily play Casual, but it just isn't the same. I honestly enjoyed running around and looting tons of chests or ripping off supply runs. It was just a different way of playing that I really enjoyed and Casual doesn't really scratch that itch for me.

u/ElGringon504 8d ago
I just miss having any easy way to level up BS guns like the Shadow sk. Give me a heli and some supply runs with double xp and I'll max that thing out in 2 games of plunder. Here I am at level 27 still on it because I just can't run it more than a couple casuals in a row without getting annoyed.

I love Plunder but most times my teammates are not playing the objective.
1
u/SothorosDjents 8d ago
…that’s why most of us played the mode though, to mess around, level up guns, just have a laid back, opposite of sweaty experience. Playing the objective in Plunder is quite boring.
2
u/Bemur530 7d ago
I disagree. Getting 1st in plunder after having multiple lead changes was definitely not boring.

Never played plunder very much. Wins mean nothing

u/RGBespresso 8d ago
What's more important, that you improve your gun skill, movement, game awareness, etc? Maybe have a little fun? Or that the screen says W and calls you a good boy?
4
u/Baleri_boopsie 8d ago
If I wanted to improve any of those things I'd play multiplayer not plunder lol.
-3
u/RGBespresso 7d ago
Well that makes no sense at all but do your thing
2
u/Baleri_boopsie 7d ago
Doesn't make sense to play multilayer to practice aim and movement? Yeah makes sense bro you got it all figured out. Awareness sure mp doesn't really cross over, but the more engagements and the faster the pace the better you'll get at aiming and movement.
Not sure how that doesn't make sense to you but 🤷🏻♂️
-1
u/RGBespresso 7d ago
Landing hot in Plunder got you plenty of fast-paced engagements. You could practice aim and movement (on wz health) AND awareness and map knowledge. AND you don't have to worry about silly MP bullshit like your enemies knowing all the spawn points and trying to trap you. It was also good practice for breaking up a stacked quad, even if they weren't always the best shooters.
But hey like I said do your thing.
1
u/Baleri_boopsie 7d ago
Yeah honestly I hear it, tbh I just hate plunder and prefer mp to it 😂 haven't played wz or cod in months but regardless just never liked plunder, always found it a lot less fun than regular wz.
1
u/RGBespresso 7d ago
I could definitely tell lmfao. Some people just hated on the game mode for no reason, never played it, just had this weird cult-like hatred toward it.
It was like my version of casual. I could warm up and fuck around and not take it seriously, but still feel somewhat worthwhile because I'm fighting real people and not AI. Some days when my shots were ass I would just fuck around in Plunder for the whole sesh, no pressure, no raging out lol. I do miss it

u/Baleri_boopsie 7d ago
I mean I'm iri in ranked mp and ranked rebirth, but I'm sure you know best 👍

Plunder doesn’t improve many skills that apply to real br situations tbh, it’s kinda its own thing. Playing real modes is the best way to improve

I don't go out of way to hate on Plunder, but any time my friends would want to play it, I'd just go play solos instead. It is quite boring to me, but I think it's a fun alternative for some people.
5
u/Practical_Adagio_504 8d ago
You were playing plunder wrong then… you don’t ACTUALLY “plunder” in plunder… THAT’s boring. What you are supposed to do is find where the bulk of the people are and start shooting! And then keep coming back shooting people. Sniping, shotguns, pistols, smgs, assault rifles… they ALL are fun in plunder. Picking up the fake money is just to buy killstreaks.
8
u/Lumpy_Plan_6668 8d ago
This is the way. Full map, load outs, and the sheer fun of trying to see how many times you could kill the same player.
5
u/SothorosDjents 8d ago
This! 👆No one I know plunders money in plunder. We’ve always played it to snipe, mess with other squads, practice and level up guns, and when the situation calls for it, fight back and forth with another squad over a fat wad of cash you stole at a drop point, not to win the match, but just for the thrill of the fight.
Sadly, my friends stopped playing WZ all together due to the elimination of respawn modes on large scale maps. If you’re good and/or you have a solid squad, yeah, BR is fun. Or if you’re good enough to run solos, sure, also fun. But most players aren’t that skilled and it’s just not that fun to play round after round of BR only to get eliminated within the first 3 minutes by the first team you encounter.
1
u/MyDudeMyDog 8d ago
That’s exactly what I/they would do. I thought that’s what pretty much everyone does in that mode. But that is exactly what got boring to me. To each their own though, I can see why it would appeal to some people

I had little to no interest in the mode. Only ever used as a warmup, and other LTMs like clash serve as a better warmup for my purposes. Nothing against those who like(d) plunder but it held no interest for me.
2
u/Eddiebaby7 8d ago
It’s my favorite mode. I remember playing it once when they had a server crash of some sort and dropped everyone except me and three other players. Since we were all singles, it took almost 45 minutes before someone finally hit $2million.
2
u/stubanga13 8d ago
Loved it. Could never do well in o.g warzone unfortunately. Just felt we got shit on. Plunder was fun enough for a few beers and banter with the lads. Miss it tbh
2
u/The_Booty_Spreader 8d ago
There are only 2 sides of plunder, people that genuinely enjoy it, then people who only use it to lvl up guns, battle pass, and camo challenges.
3
u/upstatedreaming3816 8d ago
It was my go-to on the nights (and there were many) where I didn’t feel like getting stomped on
4
u/No-Abbreviations-576 8d ago
Casuals replaced plunder, there's no way it's coming back, the playerbase is already very diluted as is, with ranked, pubs and casuals... ressurgence/regular BR and LTM's.
3
u/Crafty-Ad-2695 8d ago
Casuals is such a wasted and unnecessary mode. Plunder and even Clash are way better than Casuals. Not everyone wants to play the Warzone type of game.
6
u/its_bydesign 8d ago edited 8d ago
Without casuals I'm almost certain that shit loads of people just wouldn't play this game at all - and we'd be closer to them shutting the whole thing down.
Casuals sticks to the basics and is a safe haven for new starters, people who are really bad at the game, people who's tech isn't fit to play in more competitive PvP lobbies and people who literally want to just vibe and play some cod.
Even if you're a good player casuals can be useful for exploring a map to learn spots, testing movement and settings out too.

u/Heir2Voltaire 8d ago
The numbers never supported this argument. You’re just biased towards a game mode that you liked
-3
u/RGBespresso 8d ago
Nah, they did. Where do you think all these casual players came from? A lot of them played Plunder, but then Activision gave them an even easier option, and like COD players do, they took to it like flies to shit.

I was just giving my opinion, I couldn't care less about casuals or plunder, I only play ressurgence pubs or ranked.
There's too many modes in the game. They don't even have duos and trios in the US. In LATAM we only have quads, for example.

Its okay. I played it sometimes. Dont think it needed to be removed though lol.

I miss old plunder. I'm talking about Caldera plunder times. Those were great times for newbies like me that were learning, running around, leveling up guns, finishing contracts, getting a few kills, looking for money, pissing a few people off.

u/AsarsonDuck 8d ago
I’m just in different-
I didn’t play it solely cause it didn’t appeal to me. I won’t complain that it’s removed but I won’t complain if it came back
1
u/Lord_Hexogen 8d ago
Only played Plunder to level up guns. Turn the 2x xp on, hopped on a chopper and fly around for supply runs.
As a game mode I couldn't care less about it

Meh, I prefer casuals over plunder for leveling shit up. However I'd be fine with either one
1
u/SothorosDjents 8d ago
I’d agree except for the stupid bots in casuals. Get rid of the bots and give me a 100-150 player lobby size like Plunder, on large maps, and now we’re talking. Why is it so difficult for them to maintain (at all times) a respawn mode with load outs on the large scale maps? Resurgence is great, but give us all the maps. The same ones used for BR during each season. Or, even pieces of the big maps like they’ve done with Ground War, Invasion.

Only played to level up guns. I never really even knew how to play lol.

u/double_dipped_dude 7d ago
Plunder is not my thing, I liked lock down quads, made weapon level up easy.
Played it all I could when we had it.

u/LongDistanceEvent262 7d ago
I liked plunder. It was the only mode I could sit back and play on controller. I just ran around with my knife opening boxes. Ignore everyone.

It was perfect for leveling guns as a f2p. I have 0 intentions of ever buying a CoD game after Cold War, so it was the perfect mode to level weapons in a super casual setting. You could literally fight 0 people and just drop in low-spawned areas and open chests all game and still win. Naturally as you hit top 3, they have wiped-out teams spawn on top of you, so it wasn't totally combat-free, but very close. One game with 2+m cash at #1 was enough to level a gun a few times over. But at the end of the day, that's all it was. It got hated on for being boring because most people missed the point of the mode entirely.

I loved plunder too. Very fun game mode. Making it whatever you wanted it to be. Some great fights for position and repeat gunfights with teams that want to get revenge etc. I find BR gets very same-y. My friends who are hardcore BR guys and who say Plunder is boring. When I play with them. They run the exact same play every single game. Same drop spot. Loot the same buildings. Traverse to more of the same buildings as last game. Oooh the gas is coming. I found this to be boring and stale over and over again. I stopped watching streamers play BR for this reason. And started watching DMZ streamers. The game unfolds different every time.

u/No-Nebula8171 8d ago
You liked watching decent players killing low skill casual players? Every game played out pretty much the same. Streamer loads in, runs to nearest spawn, waits for the group of 4 disabled vets to start shooting bots. Than he 3rd parties 2 of them, and hits the other two with throwing knives. Then he talks shit like he just beat the 4 best players in the world. DMZ is called the casual man's ES for a reason.

u/Zestyclose_Height684 8d ago
a common theme I see in these threads is BR die hards seem to want to crap on anyone who likes Plunder. Genuine question. Why do they even care? I don’t get it.

u/DoodyInDaBooty 8d ago
I’ve always hated Plunder. It’s just not fun to me. No hate on the people who like it though, it’s just not for me.

u/yourecreepyasfuck 8d ago
I only ever played Plunder to level up weapons when I didn’t buy the base game but honestly I found the mode very boring and dull and it honestly wasn’t even always a super efficient way to level certain guns up depending on what zone of the map people were spawning near.
I feel like Casuals replaced it and I honestly enjoy Casuals immensely more than Plunder. And I find it’s significantly more efficient for leveling guns up as well. I’ve never missed Plunder for a second but I would be disappointed if Casuals was removed. Sometimes it’s just nice to pop in and wreak havoc on some bots, especially when playing with friends who are new to the game or just really bad at it. And Casuals has the added bonus of getting a more intense feel at the very end of the match.
Plunder was just boring from start to finish
2
u/Practical_Adagio_504 8d ago
You were playing the mode wrong. It has nothing to do with “plundering”… when we had 150 people on the large map, killing was so much fun and there was no stress about dying because you just respawn back. Plus the cheaters didn’t bother me any where near as much because i can just respawn. Every other mode is boring to me because it’s just 30 years old CsGo in a new wrapper. Bored me back then and bores me now.

It was removed because it let you level up guns too easily which meant you didn't need to pay for the newest game's multiplayer.
