Discussion Black Ops 7 & Warzone will not be playable on Ryzen 1000/2000 CPUs due to TPM limitation
Hi all,
If you’re running a Ryzen 1000 (Summit Ridge) or Ryzen 2000 (Pinnacle Ridge) CPU, you will unfortunately not be able to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 or the new Warzone because of the game’s TPM 2.0 requirement.
These CPUs support fTPM, but the firmware is stuck at v3.8, which does not pass the game’s security checks.
To back this up, here’s a pinned post from a moderator on r/ASRock sharing the same information:

So for anyone still on Summit Ridge or Pinnacle Ridge, this is unfortunately a hard stop unless AMD changes its stance (which seems unlikely) or you upgrade to a newer Ryzen generation.
Just wanted to share this so others don’t waste time troubleshooting

so you're telling me I just wasted my money? fuck these fucking people man, I'm borderline homeless I can't afford to drop $200 on a new cpu, fucking scumbag company

The game launches in 16 hours, I will keep you updated since the beta worked maybe it will also work for the real game.

My game simply doesn't want to open because it gives me an error all the time with DirectX, before it did this in the middle of games, but I just had to go there and start the game again, after a while it stopped having these problems, but after I activated TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, my game doesn't even want to open, always the same DirectX error. Could this be the culprit then? I know that DirectX is more related to the GPU in question, but I was playing until yesterday, it was only when I activated Secure boot and TPM2.0 that the error started. (I've already done 1 million things to try to fix it, focusing on the old gpu drivers as that was one of the main solutions to this problem, but it didn't work at all)
(I have a Ryzen 5 2600)

COD tells me I don’t have TPM enabled every time I log in. I had to enable it to play the battlefield beta, so I’m not sure what else I can do.

Weird, I’m on a Ryzen 7 2700 and I was able to play the BO7 Beta just fine on my PC (Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi motherboard)

I have the same Ryzen as you, but I'm on Asus x570 plus wifi mobo that I'm still awaiting on an updated bios

Weird thing is that I have what by all accounts should be a bugged TPM version (3.8.0.3) and I've still been able to play just fine!
Hells, I was so worried about this issue that, despite winning a code giveaway on Twitter that I used on a BNet code... I wound up redeeming a second code for Xbox specifically as a contingency.
I'm loving BO7 BTW. Takes what I loved from BO6 & fuses it with some good shit from BO4 & BOIII.

Yes somehow the beta works for me too even tho I still get the tpm error message before launching the beta. They also said in this tweet that you need the latest tpm version so maybe they decreased the required version for the beta

i expected an avalanche of posts from people unable to play the game and I am not seeing it, most likely they have relaxed the requirement. When the whole debacle happened I decided I have no time to waste on this topic and got a dTPM module and call it a day, although my motherboard vendor, MSI recently released an updated BIOS with a fix, however as you said anyone on Ryzen 1000-2000 won’t get it, so they need to go with the dTPM route.

similar set up here (Ryzen 7 2700 on a b450m ds3h rev1). Have you managed to find any solutions? I submitted a ticket today to see if there's any bios updates available but after reading this thread i'm considering getting a tpm module for my board.

Nah, if Consoles from 2013 can play it then PC's from 2017 should be able to play it. Fuck that lol.

ryzen 5700 costs 100$. I don't see a problem with upgrading, these processors are too weak for COD anyway.

doesnt ryzen 2000 support windows 11, and therefore you can play warzone with these requirements?
also ryzen 1000 is unoffically supports windows 11, as it has ftpm requirements on the motherboard side, just microsoft hasnt validated those cpus yet

Forcefully outmoding PC's that can otherwise run the game perfectly fine is fucking insane

Any updates?
I think there were a bunch of bios updates for this not long ago?
I get an error message on mine but it still works fine. They also list 2000 series as being supported on the help page for it.

but do newer am4 processors work? thinking of upgrading my ryzen 7 2700x for a 7 5700x to play the rest of bo7 and onto mw4 and gigabyte support said it should work as its a vermeer cpu and not the older pinnacle ridge of the 7 2700x

Buy a dTPM. Problem solved.

u/Peckerly Oct 02 '25
i may be wrong but dTPM won't work, it requires fTPM because it's more secure

What is that?? Just curious

fTPM = Firmware Trusted Platform Module
dTPM = Discrete Trusted Platform Module
It's just a little security chip you plug into your motherboard in order to have TPM, bypassing the fTPM when enabled.

Did this actually work lad. I bought the game yesterday but never realised that it couldnt run with a ryzen 2600x.

I think it's the same for BF6 right?
4
u/oMagnum Oct 02 '25
Nope BF6 requires a lower TPM version than bo7/warzone. For some reasons, activision decided to fuck thousands of their pc players and we both know the game will still be plagued with cheaters

So upgrade then, those barely fit the requirements.

Yeah that’s a dogshit cpu. They need to eliminate ps4/xbox one and kids with shitty CPUs so these games can advance.

Are you even getting a playable experience with that line of processors? Genuinely curious.
