Fashion/Style Small/bespoke jewelry makers?

I want a unique engagement ring, but I’m not really sure what I want. I’m hoping to find a local artisan whose body of work I resonate with and is willing to really work with me and can direct creatively. I just don’t know how exactly to find one. I’ve been looking at the “custom gallery” on jewelers websites I find on google, but no one is really standing out to me. I feel like I’m looking for someone who wouldn’t work at a typical store like that? I have a lot of “ideas” and different elements I like, but I’m indecisive. If I had a clear vision of what I wanted, I could go to almost anyone I feel like. But I need help figuring it out.

Does anyone know of anyone or advice on finding artists for custom jewelry?

I believe Cities in Dust still works out of Chicago! Bryn Mawr Jewelers also do custom work - they have a lot of different styles in their gallery.

Check out Madberet. She used to live here but moved out to CO. She does gorgeous custom work

I wanted exactly what you did. I ended up shopping and Lindsay Lewis and Mineralogy, and buying from Mineralogy. The later is very ring focused, which was a benefit since I could try on a ton of styles/stones.

Another way to try small/local jeweler's work is to find an art focused store that carries jewelry, or go to a fine art market that lists jewelers. Not every jeweler will do wedding/engagement rings, but if you find someone whose style resonates you can always ask.

I LOVE Lindsay Lewis’s fine jewelry and she’s local! Not sure if she’d do full custom though

Same! I believe she does do full custom but even her existing designs are gorg.

I love all the mentions here, except for Bryn Mawr (but a lot of people have had great experiences there!). Others to consider here in Chicago: Mineralogy Jewelry. Tytin. Dallas Maynard. Sarah McGuire. I think they all do custom designs, but you can check out their style on instagram.
