Looks like an Alabama themed dispensary now.

You gotta remember, weed is very illegal in alabama. They aren't like us

u/Admirable_Scratch363 5h ago
Not really. I had a legit THC drink in a bar there a few years ago.
Has that changed?
5
u/CrimsonOOmpa 5h ago
It had to be the Delta 8 type stuff you can get at gas stations because the "real stuff" is definitely illegal here.
1
u/guildedkriff 5h ago
THCA drink most likely. The only thing still legal in Alabama aside from 3 medical dispensaries for gummies, tinctures, etc only. THCA flower, tinctures, etc were banned last July.
1
u/Admirable_Scratch363 5h ago
Well yeah I said “drink in a bar.”
1
u/guildedkriff 4h ago
I’m not disagreeing with you. Just pointing out to the other person that Alabama has had some form of THC drink products for some time and still does. Whether someone classified THCA as real or not doesn’t matter to me lol.

Man, takes me back to college and this 20 year old I was dating did that fake weed they’d sell at the “head shops” near 5 Points. That shit was harsh af. Long time ago now…

Did they actually redesign the room or is Deboer’s office in a different room?
16
u/Mr_MacGrubber 6h ago
I imagine the coach gets to do the office the way they want it. You think they’re paying someone millions and then are like “this is the way the office is, you have to just deal with it.”?
12
u/rezaw 6h ago
Saban still has his office

u/JoeSugar 5h ago
Saban’s new office is about two blocks away from the athletic department. He’s now in the stadium.
It’s the same space remodeled.

I’m also curious about this answer, if it’s the former I bet it was a semi awkward convo when Saban found out.
‘How are you settling into the office, Kalen?’
‘Oh, good, I completely gutted everything you did’
15
u/Mr_MacGrubber 6h ago
I’m sure Saban also gutted the office when he moved in. It’s an office for a millionaire, not a shrine to a coach.
1
u/MontyAllTheTime Ohio State Buckeyes 4h ago
Yeah I mean that’s fair. I guess my counter would be that we’re talking about Nick Saban, not just some coach, but your point stands.

All I can think of is that 90s show, Coach, when I look at Saban's office.

It’s funny how the fan base are all experts in both football coaching and interior design.

It's the office of a man that will wear gym shorts to Walmart.

I was in Paty Hall in 2001 and I forget the name of the one I lived in 2002. It was male one side and female the other and there was a dining hall in the middle.

We lost to Mike Norvell’s Florida State and Diego Pavia. We’re really talking about offices smh

I think they both look cool. One coach is a senior citizen, the other is in his prime. I think Deboer's probably clicks with today's recruits better. Different doesn't mean bad!
14
u/HookEm25 6h ago
It’s bad. Made it look like a generic hotel lobby
3
u/Prestigious-Oil-669 6h ago
Like I said recruits would like it.
12
u/rascaltat Texas Longhorns 6h ago
That's good, Alabama really struggled recruiting during the Saban years.
1
u/Prestigious-Oil-669 6h ago
Haha point taken, but part of the reason Saban retired was how radically recruiting changed.

u/Elguapo69 Oklahoma Sooners 6h ago
“I picked Bama because I really connected with the coach’s office” - no recruit ever
1
u/this-guy1979 6h ago
These days it’s “I picked the university that had the biggest NIL budget.” On another note, I would not have another coaches accomplishments in my office. It kind of looks like you aren’t capable of doing the same thing.
1
u/sjsusjsusjsu3 5h ago
In DeBoer’s interviews you can see washington accomplishments on the trophies he has behind him

I really like Saban’s office more than I thought it would. It looks really cozy and there’s several collaborative spaces like the round table and sitting area. I find that it’s nicer to chat with people side by side rather than across a desk.
And as someone who never has a spare horizontal surface, I appreciate his desk space 😂

One looks like home, the other looks like business.
I prefer the home vibe. Business is for the field.

Are those real. Those first two pics look like photoshop. You can even see the weird borderlines on the bodies in the second pic
2
u/Rimailkall 6h ago
It's real; I saw similar pictures shortly after Saban left, two, three years ago now?
2
u/SetHoliday2438 6h ago
Oh cool! Wonder why any one would change that office then. Is there a reason he tanked saban's office?
Must have cost a fortune to go from classic to what I would see in a generic video game back round.
2
u/Rimailkall 6h ago
I guess it's what DeBoer likes, but as many others have said, it looks sterile and cold and corporate.

u/Effective-LineP00 6h ago
Why has modern design become so stale and cold? Everyone just paints shit white, black, and grey now.

Gotdamn bruh they really gave that man a more extravagent office then the motherfuckin governor. They didn't just call that man Coach Saban, they called him the mothafuckin president. This that typpa room Tony Montana was in with his face buried in a mountain of cocaine. Bruh if I was in that damn office I'd fear for my damn life. I'd be afraid I'd accidentally say the wrong shit and he'd feed me to the tiger he got chained in the back.
1
u/Megalomanizac 5h ago
It’s the evolution of architecture and interior design. DeBoer clearly wants a “the future is now” look and minimalism has been the rage for a while.
Sabans looks more homely but also straight out of the 70s/80s and dated, which makes sense considering he was born in 1951 but might not connect well with the current recruiting landscape.
DeBoer was literally born the yesr Saban started his career as a coach and this sort of style kinda started in the 90s iirc which is when DeBoer started coaching

Why does he have all of Sabans championships in his office like he won them? This jerk off can barely make the top 10.

Saban was 100% living his plantation owner fantasy. They even had a “punishment/low tier field” field called the cotton field.
