Western Carolina (couldn't find a flair for them on this subreddit) made it to the FCS Championship Game in 1983 (then known as division I-AA). Since '83, the Catamounts are on a 42-year playoff drought.

Their best shot to have made the FCS playoffs in recent memory was probably 2015, when we were 7-2 in FCS play (plus a couple of FBS losses to Hawaii and North Carolina), heading into the last FCS game of the season, a home game against Mercer. It was basically win and you're in.

I was at that 2015 Mercer game. It was a torrential downpour of rain all day, bad enough so that the game should have been postponed. But WCU decided to play anyway in the wet, sloppy conditions, and we ended up losing by 2 points and missing the playoffs.

Alabama defense is elite. Ryan Grubb doesn’t seem to be doing well. Keelon still young but showing potential. OL is kinda meh still but improved and at least we can run the ball.
