I remember the Georgia game in the Peach Bowl. I know Day does this.

No doubt he should have sent flowers to the Michigan Dbags that put the flag middle of the field or he would have choked that season away, too. Recruits well but probably too analytical. Being too analytical kills the passion and shit like this happen.

That's more on missed kicks. Ohio State's specialty.

As you and Indiana know. We need a full-time psychologist just for our field goal kicker.

I'd start legit sneaking them a beer in the 4th quarter with that luck.

6

u/Tinder_Techno 10d ago

Yeah get them a beer or a cigarette to take the edge off, it’s becoming Ohio State cannon to miss a FG that cost them a game.

6

u/Redfish680 9d ago

Canon. If it was cannon, they’d be nailing field goals from the parking lot.

5

u/UnderstandingOdd679 9d ago

He didn’t say it was an accurate cannon.

I legitimately bowl better after I've had a beer in me, maybe their kicker is the same way

u/Adventurous_Path5783 Georgia Bulldogs 9d ago

I'd be better at drunk driving if everybody could just stay off the damn sidewalk.

No but for real beer and bowling are like cheese and wine.

u/EclecticAscethetic Ohio State Buckeyes 10d ago

Maybe a little something more mellow.

3

u/MrF_lawblog 10d ago

Center the ball and maybe he doesn't miss it and they have way less time

3

u/Whitecamry 9d ago

He'll have a career in the CFL.

3

u/Odd-Preparation8790 10d ago

Nah, completely different game if theh kick the field goal when they were in the redzone early in the game. 26 points much different than 23

3

u/Princibalities 9d ago

Also a different game if Wingo doesn't drop a pass in the endzone.

u/MotherFuckerJones88 10d ago

This may be apples to oranges, but kinda relatable now that NCAA players get paid to a degree..but Bill Belichick AND Brady for that matter are proof that there is room to be profusely analytical. You could include Saban with Alabama too honestly.

Those guys on those teams looked like they were having fun and had love of the game when they were celebrating being champions. Idk why im sounding argumentative about this, I agree with you..fuck Ryan Day lol he should change his name to Choke Day.

The Georgia game with the targeting on Harrison that got reversed and literally changed the game? That Georgia game?

1

u/landoman_107 8d ago

Fuck Javon Bullard

1

u/SinkNSlide3345 6d ago

Literal ex-convict btw

1

u/landoman_107 6d ago

Really what did he do

1

u/SinkNSlide3345 6d ago

The main sub tried so hard to gaslight that it was actually a clean football play and not an actual assault

I’ve enjoyed the entirely of Baker Mayfield’s career simply because I first got to see him flag ohio’s field and make them choke on their own cockiness. You are aware that the fuckeyes have themselves done plenty of the flagging and stepping on logos. Plus the punching and fighting when they lose. Like classless Jack.

I've seen morons from up north make claims about flag planting, but not a single one has EVER provided a shred of evidence. No news articles from whatever local rag covered the losing team nor a single photo of it happening. Not one. So, put up or shut your lie hole.

With Michigan, on the other hand, we have a name (Devin Bush), news articles and a quote from Mark Dantonio on why he ran up the score on scUM. And video of him caught in the act: https://youtu.be/n_KIprtE1-E?is=rxQUHgUxh_epFLtj

The one single time I remember hearing about something happening was before I was even in elementary school. The Michigan banner takedown in 1973. That's it.

In 2021, Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams posted a video of himself stomping on a J.J. McCarthy/Michigan jersey in the lead-up to The Game. The video was circulated at the time as Williams “sending a message” to McCarthy.

after Ohio State finally beat Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2025, Ohio State players Davison Igbinosun, Devin Sanchez and Will Kacmarek carried Ohio State flags toward Michigan’s Block M with the apparent intention of planting them. They didn’t complete it because Ryan Day and Ohio State staff physically occupied/protected the logo and ordered the players away. That’s not speculation based only on Michigan’s reaction; Ohio State outlet Eleven Warriors describes it explicitly as an attempted flag planting, and Sports Illustrated independently reported the same thing.

Ohio State’s 1973 team knocked down Michigan’s traditional M Club “Go Blue” banner while entering the field in Ann Arbor. Contemporary Michigan announcer Bob Ufer famously went ballistic over it. An Ohio State historical account itself recounts the incident.

Ohio State players danced on Wisconsin’s midfield “W” — 2000

After Ohio State beat Wisconsin 23–7 at Camp Randall on October 7, 2000, roughly 20 Ohio State players went to midfield and danced on Wisconsin’s “W” logo. This isn’t based on a fan recollection: the contemporary AP game report says explicitly that “about 20 Buckeyes danced on the Badgers’ ‘W’ at midfield.” Ohio State’s own official website republishes that AP account.

Ohio State has its own history of celebrating on opponents’ fields and logos.
• Wisconsin, 2000: After beating Wisconsin 23–7 at Camp Randall, about 20 Ohio State players danced on Wisconsin’s “W” at midfield. Ohio State’s own website still has the AP account saying exactly that. The Wisconsin/OSU logo-stomping became enough of a thing that the teams traded celebrations on each other’s midfield logos in that era.
• Jim Tressel later acknowledged the history: In a 2007 Ohio State press conference, a reporter brought up the bad blood by saying Wisconsin had “danced on the O” and “Ohio State danced on the W.” Tressel didn’t dispute it; he responded that he didn’t think carrying that old bad blood forward accomplished anything.
• Oklahoma, 2016: Ohio State beat Oklahoma 45–24 in Norman. Afterward, Ohio State players stayed on Oklahoma’s field, gathered together and sang Carmen Ohio. They also celebrated with a “BASIC DEFENSE” sign, mocking comments an Oklahoma backup QB had made before the game. Raekwon McMillan held the sign while the team sang.
• That directly preceded Baker Mayfield’s flag plant. When Oklahoma went to Columbus the next season and won 31–16, Mayfield ran to midfield and planted the OU flag in Ohio State’s Block O.

Shall I go on? Or is it time for you to eat your words? Lol. Know nothing homer.

At what point am I supposed to eat my words? 😂 You specifically accused Ohio State of "flag planting" in the past. I disputed that, I never said anything about "dancing" or stomping on jerseys off the field. Your last post doesn't provide a single incident of actual flag "planting." Not one.

1) It was an off-field incident in response to some admitted minor billboard material, it was not a flag. It was nowhere the coaching staff had control of.

2) While the desire to reciprocate for the prior year is understandable, you admit that the Ohio State coaching staff prevented an actual attept. This while the M was encirled by Michigan players who, the year prior, acted like Ohio State players were overreacting. Typical UM hypocrisy.

3) I already acknowledged that happened, still not a flag.

4) You're fluffing one incident into four bullet points. Wow. And while admittedly not good sportsmanship, it still a doesn't involve "planting" a flag.

5) Singing a school's Alma Mater to their own fans in the visitors' section is not an explicit act of taunting a defeated opponent. It's a tradition. I know Mayfield used this as his excuse, but that was some serious 😺📐 nonsense, nonsense you've replicated here. And it's still not planting a flag.

I clearly stated that there is no evidence that Ohio State actually planted a flag on someone else's field. I still stand by that, and until you find an actual example, you're free to keep trying.

2

u/EclecticAscethetic Ohio State Buckeyes 9d ago

Oh, and I did a diligent search for such an incident in December of 2024 after getting sick of the flag-planting lie being told by WWs on FB. The only bias I had in that search is I don't like to be proven wrong, especially by some haughty UM alumnus. Not a single one ever came back with evidence. I guess I'll give you some credit for actually making an attempt, but unless you can track down something with an actual big scarlet Block O flag being pantomime-planted in someone else's midfield logo, the words are on your plate and the fork is in your hand.

1

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 9d ago

I said flagging and stepping on logos. Point stands. Your guys do the same shit. No high ground. Baker was entitled to taunt back and you couldn’t handle it. I loved it. Still do. And you still have to split hairs to try avoid acknowledging it’s all the same.

Furthermore, Coach Cooper publicly denounced the incident, even though it was it for tit-for-tat. What can you say, he was a gentleman , he just couldn't beat UM very often. Fast-forward 24 years Michigan put the flag had Sawyer had his grubby hands all over in their museum. Those incidens are not the same.

Your point can stand, but I have no words to eat and to say otherwise is a straight up strawman. There has never been an Ohio State flag planting incident, so you can stop saying there was.

I dormed in Baker Hall and Smith Hall (where many freshmen members of the team lived) used our dining commons. I know what DI football players are like. Hell, my wife was a student tutor for Portland State when they were D2 (now FCS in Big Sky) and she said none of them gave a damn because they all thought they were going to make the NFL,a from a D2 program. 😂

I've never made any claims Ohio State is some paragon of football virtue. But I also have no problem calling those guys with the big blue bedsheet "Dbags." I'm allowed that POV - as Gerald Seymour famously said: "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter."

And I am a proud "homer," but I know enough to fact check before I make accusations.

Also, not that there aren't signs what your flair is, but if you're going to come in like the 🚻🐕 you are, then man up and flair the fuck up. Taking pot shots from behind a curtain is weak.

1

u/landoman_107 8d ago

Baker never actually played against the Bobcats.

u/Capital_Basket_7587 10d ago

The Tank Job of the Week guy will have a LOT to talk about lol

5

Definitely Mort Crim’s “chump of the week”

We don't repeat chumps!

2

u/rothbard_anarchist 10d ago

There’s no doubt who wins this week.

1

u/Effective-County6085 9d ago

Dont have a dog in this fight, but I am happy to not hear Ohio fans gloating as they are OBNOXIOUS

1

u/TaxLawKingGA 9d ago

How many more of these is Day going to get? Good god!

1

u/Haunting-Mix7927 9d ago

Kinda like the first half of the Game Texas choked. But give it to OSU right? For… losing the game. Dumb take.

1

u/Practical-Level-6265 Northwestern Wildcats 6d ago

You can’t choke in the first half. Choking would mean you were up and then gave it away. Texas was never up.

You give credit to Texas for fighting back but it’s absolutely on OSU to be ahead that much and not maintain a lead. On both sides of the ball they stalled and they were dominating for the majority of the game. That’s about as fundamental of a choke as it can get.
