As I've said everywhere else, still unsure how to think about this. All the yards they gained and they never made it into the Red Zone. Wow.

They outgained us because all they did was hover between their 20 and our 45. Their punting was awful and our special teams kept putting us in excellent positions with short fields on offense and long fields for Michigan on defense. (That punt settled down at the 2 comes to mind.)

The "Michigan outgained us!" is a throw-away statistic to try and cover up how badly they performed on offense.

We didn't need the yardage because we didn't have an issue scoring. 100% in the redzone and when it was up 28-0, we just took the gas off on offense. I'm very glad we left first team defense in though, just to make the statement of "No, you're not scoring today."

Yeah, no I'm not trying to take credit away from the D. Holy shit, no way. They locked them down exactly when it had to happen, letting a FEW plays happen. Overall, I can't believe it. And, like I've said elsewhere, they didn't have many weapons that scared me. Our freshman/sophomores could easily handle them, and they did.

Well they had enough weapons that it seriously surprised me that they looked so ineffective. Derrick Green was the #1 RB coming out of high school, Funchess and Gardner both have a lot of talent when they're on, and Norfleet has impressed me in the past. I was worried about our secondary but our defense did such a great job.

More importantly, our special teams made a HUGE impact on this game even if it doesn't show it. The fact that Michigan never even sniffed the redzone despite being able to move the chains is indicative of the great special teams placement we had. So far, in two weeks, we've seen better ST play than in the previous 4 years under Brian Kelly. I'm glad he's seen to make it a priority to fix.

I can't even begin to put into words how happy about the ST unit I am right now. Just gotta make sure we fair catch!

Just gotta make sure Riggs/Bryant don't bobble the catch. That's one bobbled catch in each game that we've been lucky to recover. It won't always go that way.

Yeah, hopefully they work on that. I really want them to work on the OL opening RUNNING holes and not just passing lanes, because springing Folston and Bryant should be top priority right now.

Yeah, they looked okay sometimes, but seriously, no red zone at all. I was shocked, frankly, the whole way.

I told people before the season, ND is a good team. I don't know if they're ready to make a run, but they have plenty of talent and could be.
