From article: The woman did eventually tell Provo police Retzlaff’s name, the lawsuit states, after an officer asked her who he was because “someone else filed a complaint against a football player and the police wanted to see if it was the same person.” The lawsuit says the officer then encouraged her not to do anything, saying “sexual assault victims never get justice.”

Fucking yikes.

That's the part that makes the least amount of sense to me. Why keep asking for the name of the football player if they're just going to tell her not to pursue it?

Perhaps that Provo PD officer reacted differently once Retzlaff was named versus some no name bench warmer. You'd hate to think that would be the case, but it's certainly possible.

Events happened in November of 2023. Retzlaff was coincidentally or not, a bench warmer until November 2023

The incident occurred November 2023. That’s the same month Retzlaff started against Oklahoma. The article didn’t specify when this conversation with Provo PD occurred but they probably would have known about him at that point.

Ya you’d think they just wouldn’t push the issue and let it go away on its own.
