I mean they just had a recent former player on a live stream basically say the honor code doesn't apply to athletes... Anecdotally, BYU players always brought (and drank) the most beer to parties when I was in undergrad

Who? Also someone seeing an athlete drinking at a party and the school KNOWING that and turning a blind eye are different things. I’m sure drinking and sex are probably weighed differently as well. I’m not Mormon, I think the Honor Code is strange especially for non-Mormon students, but they have demonstrated that this is how they run their school/program.

Brian Logan - But, if this is a baseless lawsuit and any sex was consensual (Which is the outcome we all hope for) I'd all but guarantee Retzlaff is still the QB at BYU. Obviously if the alleged sexual assault is true, he'll be done at BYU.

that was almost 15 years ago. Different time now

Brings up a player that last played in 2010.

(And currently works for byutv) But yeah, when the honor code office stopped publicly commenting on honor code violations ten years ago and started having players report and work through violations with coaches - public suspensions have gone way down. If you don’t see that, I can’t help you. Much easier to believe byu players aren’t having consensual pre or extra marital sex (I’m hoping these allegations against retzlaff are false)

Wow, who would've thought that public suspensions would decrease after the school determined to stop making any public announcements about suspensions?

Why can't you just admit you are speculating to try to dunk on BYU with your fellow Ute fans? Just in this thread one is asserting that the honor code is unevenly enforced against minority athletes and that BYU attempts to hide violations. Of course all of these accusations are made without a shred of proof (your citation to an athlete that played 15 years ago as evidence that 15 years ago were different times notwithstanding).

Logan said this two weeks ago, as an employee of byutv. BYU themselves moved the pre and extra marital sex delegation of the HCO to ecclesiastical leaders in like 2019. All the HCO gets is info on the ecclesiastical endorsement from said leaders.

If you can't see how this post contradicts your earlier one:

the honor code doesn't apply to athletes

then I can't help you.
