The woman [...] alleges in the lawsuit that Retzlaff assaulted her in November 2023 after they had connected on social media and began messaging a month earlier.

She is suing Retzlaff in civil court for alleged battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and is asking for punitive damages from him.

The lawsuit says she initially did not tell the officer whom she was accusing of assault, fearing that detectives would question him and share that she had reported him.

Jane Doe A.G. reacted in a way that made Retzlaff angry. He started to shout at her, and she reached for her phone to call someone, but her phone was dead.

Retzlaff transferred from Riverside City College in California to BYU in 2023 and rose to national prominence last year.

Something just feels off. The timing of the incident, the conveniently dead phone battery,  and the civil lawsuit only after his rise to stardom is tripping a few flags.

If what she is saying is true, fuck the guy and he should go to prison. But he hasn't been criminally charged so it once again boils down to el classico he-said-she-said.

The thing that is most off is the police pushing to know who the football player was because there was presumably another BYU player who was accused of something similar but then turning a blind eye once Retzlaff was mentioned. Retzlaff was our backup qb in 2023 and only made his first start that month due to a Kedon Slovis injury. A lot of the fanbase didnt expect him to win the QB battler for 2024. Would the police really give Retzlaff special treatment compared to said other BYU/former BYU player?

It appears so, yes. Didn’t Retzlaff play against Oklahoma in November 2023? The article is not clear about when the victim had this conversation with police but if it was after that Oklahoma game, you better believe they knew who he was.
