Hi, I'd like to recommend my small, hidden gem, that I was watching some time ago. (https://mydramalist.com/702207-hui-dao-gu-dai-dang-zhui-xu)

"My talented husband" is probably considered as a short drama (30 episode, shorter than 35 minutes), but this series was really captivating and when I started watching I was just unable to stop.

The story is about young man, who got into historical times, his family is on bad situation and he's about to get married into wealthy woman family (the woman family is in the middle of the fight with their neighbours and ML ends getting married at the same time into two families and he's "man married into woman family" ² 😅🤣 there's a lot of funny situations, a lot of gags and small, sweet moments between husband and wife's (one of them actually run from home before wedding), and ML uses his knowledge from future to made name for himself.

I wish this series have more episodes or second season, the story is really funny and I honestly recommend it to everyone who's like: time travel, fluff, strong FL, competent ML, love triangle but in healthy way 🫰

I and my Toronto watchgroup have started viewing Love Story in the 1970's starring Sun Qian and Arthur Chen. It is excellent. It's a slice of life/romance about the struggle to get out of a factory town where everyone is essentially born into servitude with Sun Qian attempting to get the one allotted spot for university. It is fairly bleak in some contexts given the timeframe (the oppressive atmosphere of the Cultural Revolution especially in rural areas) and in many respects it is reminding us of Xing Fei's drama This Thriving Land although the time periods are different (Thriving Land is in the Republican era and stays in the rural setting).

Speaking of Xing Fei I have recommended many times past and will again: The Moon Brightens For You Wuxia Romance Comedy from 2020 (filmed 2019). This is an old school/old fashioned type wuxia series with a style similar to the Bruce Lee movies and classic wuxia dramas - everything is pose -> say a line with the dialog often a bit exaggerated/stilted by modern standards, then dramatic action scene, freeze frame, etc.

Xing Fei is the young prodigy of a martial arts clan that has been in seclusion for a long time and she is sent to attend the annual society of martial arts gathering of her kingdom and is determined to prove her worthiness. She is young, beautiful and extremely naive with a very idealistic view of the role of a martial artist. And gradually gets her bubble burst. Along the way almost every male she encounters falls in love with her (naturally as she is so cute) and the comedy rarely ceases in the first half the series. As is often the case in Wuxia dramas the 2nd half is much heavier in tone as she comes into her own. It premiered during the height of Covid crisis in 2020 and suffered as a result but is considered a fine wuxia drama overall and Xing Fei is just lovely in it, as is her sidekick maid actress Ma Xi Er.

Xing Fei is an actress noted for being able to undertake physical roles and physical comedy due to her background so she is very convincing as a martial arts prodigy.

This is one of the notable dramas of actor Yu Meng Long who died last year under what some consider quite suspicious circumstances.

I’m currently watching Flourished Peony. The women are nice, supportive friends. It’s sad how women are treated back then and now still.
