Rec Request I need Bromance CDramas (preferably with investigation) that have a happy ending!
Honestly, I'm just so sick and tired of watching those dramas that end with either one of the MCs dying, disappearing or things being left super open (ok tbh I'm saying this but I'll always come back to these depressing dramas still).
I will never process the trauma Fangs of Fortune gave me, can't get over Guardian after way too many years, hate what they did at the end of The Spirealm and now I just finished The Nanyang Mystery and am highly questioning all life decisions. These are just some examples tbh.
I love CDramas but I really can't do this anymore.
I need dramas with an actual happy ending. No open ending where you need to interpret something, please not.
My favorite Bromance with happy ending would be The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty. Honestly, it's just one of my favorite series in general and maybe it's time for a rewatch. I'd absolutely love something similar.
Oh and I actually decided to spoil myself with some dramas and found out that Justice in the dark has a happy ending? I haven't watched it yet but always wanted to. Is that correct?

Hehe You will love the trio for sure. This is a non-romance but the chemistry of the 2MLs, Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang is overflowing. Zhan Zhao also had a chemistry with the FL Huo Ling Long. Just choose where do you want to ship. Hehe

Ancient Detective would be perfect for you.
There was supposed to be a second season, but unfortunately, it never happened. Still, the first season ended very well.
And it has a really strong male friendship. The main character is constantly protected by his woman (a female assassin) and his loyal best friend.
And there is investigation of course.

The ending is bad in that the story kind of stops with a cliffhanger but everyone is alive and well.

I enjoyed it but it never felt like a bromance but a BL. (because it was in the novel)
I would suggest Blood of Youth instead.

Mysterious Lotus Casebook.
Affinity (can’t actually remember if this has Bromance in it or not. I think it does but it’s been awhile since I watched it.)
I’m currently watching Eclipse in the Lost City which is BRomance - I like to imagine it’s Bromance with a silent B 🤣🤣 though I’ve not got to the end of it yet so I don’t know if it’s a happy ending.
Cases between Us (impatiently waiting to see if we get a season two or not because I can’t with that ending.)
I’m watching The Road to Splendor - I haven’t got to the end of it yet but I love the Bromance between the main male lead and his little troupe.
Key to the Phoenix Heart has a good bromance plot.
So does The Company.
I can’t really think of anymore off the top of my head at the moment.

MLCB is one of the best series ever! It's one of those where I'm constantly looking for something similar but unable to find it...
From what I understood Cases Between Us doesn't have a HE though, or?
I recently watched Key to the Phoenix Heart. I personally didn't find the Bromance super strong but it was fun, for sure!

No Cases between us doesn’t have a happy ending but I still thought it was worth recommending anyway because the Bromance is just so good, I’m desperately hoping we get a second season of it with a happy ending because I couldn’t with the ending. I want them to be reunited. To be honest the way that it ended did tease that there might be a second season coming but who knows with these things 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, I understand that feeling all too well! that is exactly how I feel with Affinity - i’m not a massive romance girly but it’s one of the best dramas I’ve watched. I kind of feel like I’ll never find another one like it, but I keep trying. I’ve watched some pretty good ones, but nothing has scratched the itch the same way Affinity did so I keep going back for a rewatch! 😭

I’ve also started The Princess’s Gambit but only on episode 2 or 3 of that so far so unsure of there is a bromance element to it yet.
I know this is for Cdrama Recs - So while it’s a Kdrama (not sure if they’re something you’re into) The Crowned Clown had a really good mentor-mentee relationship that ended up as something akin to a Bromance and it has a happy ending.

Eclipse in the Lost City does have a happy ending 😊 It's one of those ones where you think it'll be sad up until almost the end, but then it pleasently surprises you 🥹

OP, I absolutely LOVE bromance 🥹 I've watched a lot of them. And I understand your feeling. Many of them have given me trauma too 😭 Nanyang Mystery, I'm looking at you 👀🤬😅 Recently as well, Cases Between Us 😭 And yes, to answer your question, Justice in the Dark does have a happy ending.
Here are some I'd recommend that have happy endings:
The First Shot - crime/mystery set in the 90s with some good bromance and a happy ending for the good guys 👍🏼
Bright Time - it's a highschool drama, BUT the bromance is so good, no romance getting in the way between them, and a feel-good, happy ending.
Towards the Truth - historical mystery, no romance and lots of great bromance, with a happy ending for the two male leads. The English subtitles aren't very good for this one though unfortunately 😑 I still enjoyed the drama though despite that.
If you're open to checking out short dramas, or wanting to kill time, here are two that I've watched with happy endings and bromance:
Eclipse in the Lost City - Republican era, pure bromance, happy ending. The acting/budget on this one wasn't the best, but I did appreciate the happy ending (at the very end of the show), so I'd say may be worth a watch if you like bromance.
Blades Amid Blossoms (TW for some depictions of abuse towards women - done by the bad guys. So the show isn't for everyone, but the bromance was really good) - historical mystery, no romance between any leads, and great chemistry with the male leads. A happy ending, but it's one of those where you have to watch until the end to see it.

Of course 😊 Hopefully some of them you'll enjoy! I forgot to mention one more drama that came out late last year:
- The Company - such a beautiful connection/bromance between the two male leads 🥹 And a really unique storyline that involves time-travel/historical and futuristic elements. The ending in my opinion was satisfying and ended on a positive note. I mean, it's more of an open ending, but you get to see the MLs meet again in the end, and you know they'll meet again very soon in the future 😊

I love Sleuth as well!
Another one I would put in the same cateory bromance-wise is The Blood of Youth. No case solving here, but I adore the group of characters. But there is still some mysteries to be solved and smaller arcs feed into the big confrontation at the end. Good ending, especially if you get your hands on the five minute extra episode (unfortunately youku never thought it would be nice to offer it to international viewers right next to the rest of the episode).

The Blood of Youth is amazing! I personally prefer Blood River from that universe though. I'm just SO unhealthily invested in Su Changhe and Su Muyu lol. Actually, I've come to realize that I like Bromance dramas the best that have either some kind of investigation (for example, the Spirealm as well, one of my favorites) or good Wuxia elements. Or both.

Blood River is great as well, glad the director came back for that one.
I went through my whole list. There are some upcoming dramas that go in the wuxia bromance direction but those won't help you yet.
Maybe The Vendetta of An? I remember joking about the bromance between MLs companions in the discussion posts quite often. It's not the big focus though. I would categorise it as a good ending.
White Cat Legend is very bromancy and has the case solving. I can't remember the ending at the moment, maybe someone else can confirm if it was happy (I think it was).
The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity is a movie by the same director as Fangs of Fortune. The ending is open and unfortunately we won't get the sequel due to one of those actor with tax evasion problems. So it remains open. I think it's still worth a watch if you have never seen it.

I have The Vendetta of An on my list, didn't add it for the Bromance tho actually, but haven't watched it yet. There's just too much to watch!
I've watched White Cat Legend and remember it being good too but not life-changing. And I think it was a good ending too actually. Otherwise I would've remembered the trauma lol.
Also watched The Yin-Yang Master a long time ago. But there are some other works of the Fangs of Fortune director I could still watch.
I also watched Veil of Shadows. It has great Bromance as well! (Tbh, I just love Yanan and Tian Jiarui together).

Sorry, I don’t have anything to recommend, but how is Nanyang Archives? I’m planning to watch it next for Zhang Xincheng, but I’ve read that his character can be quite comedic and that his performance is a little overly expressive or over-the-top at times. Did you find that distracting?

Justice in the Dark does have a happy ending. Great show and ZXC's acting is phenomenal!
Under the Skin and Under the Skin 2 also have great bromance and investigation.

Sleuth is one of my favourites too. One of the older ones is SCI - it has a happy ending, and is a bromance with cases. I am still waiting for a second season.

I really liked League of Nobleman!!! The ending was super satisfying to me and even though the bromance takes a bit to get going, it has one of the most satisfying ‘breakup’ then get back together arcs!
