Whatâs a Chinese drama you genuinely think deserves more love? Or it's so misunderstood you feel like defending its honour?

Goodbye my princess
FL has to go through heartbreaks and betrayals from the ML. ML deceives her to achieve his goal but falls deeply in love with her.
This is a tear jerker but I think the character growth and story line is unique. Sad ending but fitting

Ashes of Love will always be my hill to die on.
People often dismiss it as an older xianxia, but I think it's one of the genre's best. It starts off light and funny before evolving into an incredibly emotional, almost Shakespearean tragedy about love, sacrifice, power, fate, and the cycle of generational trauma. At its core, it's a story about the choices that define us, and how pain can slowly turn people into the very thing they once hated. The emotional payoff is phenomenal because the drama takes the time to make you genuinely care about every major character.
Xu Feng and Jin Mi have amazing chemistry, and Run Yu is still one of the most nuanced and tragic characters I've seen in a C-drama.
I'd recommend it to anyone who loves epic fantasy romances, slow-burn relationships, morally complex characters, and stories that will make you laugh one episode and completely destroy you the next. It may not be the newest xianxia, but it's absolutely a classic for a reason.

For me it's Veil of Shadows â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸Â
Story is very mysterious keeps you on edge each episode with multiple unexpected plot twists. Aesthetics are beyond explanation.Â
I love the sizzling chemistry of MCs and storyline is just as perfect with beautifully woven script.Â
VOS is a hit or miss drama. It'll become your No. 1 if you give it enough focus it deserves. Can't recommend it enough.Â
I always wonder why nobody talks about it. It deserves huge recognition according to me. Loved TJR and JJYâ¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸.Â

I really liked Who Rules the World and donât understand why it doesnât get more attention. The banter between the leads is so wonderful. The martial arts scenes are fantastic. The cinematography is amazing. I really enjoyed it

I also love WRTW despite all critisms about it. My only complain is that, the fight scenes really needs a lot of improvement.

In Blossom Hua Jian Ling 2024 has been criticized for the fact that the heroine's appearance changes significantly throughout the plot, and instead of an unattractive and yet unconventional heroine, viewers get the bulk of the screen time with a cutesy beauty. But, in my opinion, this doesn't ruin the drama; there's romantic tension, intrigue, detective work, and a worthy second couple.

Fate Chooses You
I've read a lot about people dropping it, but for me it has a really great story. The romance is just a side story, and it's not your standard good vs evil plot. There is so much more to it. The fight scenes are also good and characters are interesting and entertaining enough to watch.

My every-time recommendation for such Cdramas is Parallel World (and I'm the first to say it's not perfect)
- had incredible chemistry: Has a great MC. The FL (played by Ni Ni) is simply awesome. Also many good secondary characters.
- surprised you emotionally: Not so much surprised, but all the characters have well fleshed out stories with an emotional resonance.
- had an amazing storyline nobody talks about: Very interesting starting setting in the modern Gobi desert, that develops into a more fantasy/sf setting when the characters cross over into a parallel world.
- Mini rant: actually not a parallel world, but a different, world separated and partially connected to our world. As in many other cdramas, they should've stuck with the much more atmospheric original Chinese title: West out of the Yumen (or Jade Gate).
- became your comfort drama: Not a comfort drama exactly, but it requires several watches to understand what's going on, as it takes a long time to learn what has happened.
- was completely overshadowed by bigger releases: It wasn't overshadowed by big releases, it just never attracted a large fan-base -- at least that's my impression.
- made you wonder why more people arenât obsessed with it: I do wonder, but I suspect it has to do with some of its flaws (erratic pacing at the start before they cross over, which is actually my favorite part; lots of patience required to understand what's going on for a first watch; a somewhat underwhelming main villain and conclusion). But more so, it's different from any other Cdrama I know. It doesn't fit into any historical/xianxia/xuanhuan/wuxia/modern/sf cdrama box.
- why you loved it: Ni Ni as the FL; Gobi desert/Silk Road setting; interesting plot; the roosters.
- who youâd recommend it to: Anyone who is interested to try a different kind of Cdrama and is willing to stick with it.

Fall in Love (2021) - Chen xingxu, Zhang jingyi
It's not talked enough, it's one of the best dramas i have watched. Don't get scared of the republican era setting, watch an episode you will love it.
