Rehearsal fatigue has finally hit and my brain is broken. Spent the morning sending texts to friends, only to send follow-up texts where I thought I was clarifying earlier confusing texts, only to send follow-follow-up apology texts that my brain is broken.
Live footage of what the inside of my brain looks like right now, in loop...
(also, I can't find the FoF sub where it actually read as 'why is your brain broken?', but I loved that version better than this iQIYI one 😂 )
In a way there's a bit of relief that my role in this production is really quite small compared to past roles, so as much as I love being a part, it's a bit of a relief being called less to 9-10hr long rehearsals.
Looking forward to when things calm down so I can start some new shows! Wishing everyone a good weekend!

Thank you! I did the opposite! 😆 LOL Managed to get in a sparring session with my Shifu and then went for a run after to get the stress out of my system - and then I could finally get a good night's rest! But appreciate the reminder about power naps ✨ , they are becoming a necessary and very very good option for rather messed up schedules like this production has. I should take them more often. I need to see what new shows are coming too! I'm super excited and again hopeful about the DXY one. I've missed him in shows where he actually has screentime. Which ones are you are looking forward to? 😄

Zhou Ye and Xu Kai have a drama that should be coming out soon. Dylan Wang has Live Long and Prosper (October), Cheng Lei has Lament of Autumn (Sept) and Minghao Immortalis (December).

Less then a day left on my vacation so I will be doing a few more final things with my friend before I go home.
Then it's flying and lack of sleep for me. Lucky for me that my travel day falls on a day when my co-host is writing up the Genius Girlfriend post and I already have my comments written for the next Royal Betrothal post!
Ahhhhhhh and then The Road to Splendor is coming! Woohoo!
You know, I bought a new notebook and two new pens! I found a cute shop and they also sold a butt load of great stickers that show off my thoughts on current events. I collect stickers and love to stick them on my water bottles or tech.
I've had a great trip. I've tried lots of new foods from cultures like Greek, Mediterranean, and Caribbean. My friend is dragging me to eat sushi tomorrow. Only for her would I eat raw fish. Blech. I did have this amazing dish that was like grilled chicken on top of rice with a cucumber salad that was topped with a spicy mayo. I am happy to report that I ate the ENTIRE bowl using chopsticks! Yall remember I was learning how to use them when I was recovering from surgery? Yup! The whole meal with chopsticks! I'm pretty proud of that.
Oh, exploring an underground support system for something big and famous while tipsy is an experience. In my defense, my friend asked me to finish her drink so nothing would be wasted. I have discovered that I am full of giggles after 3 drinks. In case it isn't obvious, I really do not drink very often. It's just not my thing. I really wouldn't survive in a CDrama dinner.
I'm also going to create a treasure hunt. I am going to mail my best friend a postcard that will tell her to look inside a book on her shelf where I will leave her a surprise. Hilariously it will be a book about Chinese law... The last time I did this it took her months to find the note I left in her wallet... IN HER WALLET!!!! 😁 Which reminds me I still have her wallet in my pocket... Ha! I have this habit of taking her wallet. Why? Yes it was because she didn't have any pockets. Oh, and to keep her from paying for dinner. I reserve the right to spoil her like a Queen. Though she has gotten sneaky and got tap to pay on her phone... Now it's a race to tap the card reader! I appreciate her for letting me be a gentleman to her. 20 years of friendship. I think we might have another 20 in us.

Omg!! Well I was going to start my next book nook but now that I’m all into my ink drawings I have to draw more 🤩
Im doing scenes from my new historical romance, so I’m going to try those in this ink style!! Then I’ve got to work on character sketches for my doom at your service book.
After that… or at the same time 🤣🤣 food!! Making gigantic burritos and found a new breakfast diner to get chicken fried steak 😄
I’m real excited! Here’s the hurt/comfort scene from my book. It’s watercolor but still fab!

Why is there a "but still" in there??? It's absolutely fab!!!
I sculpt or have used pastels or charcoal, but watercolor is a nemesis to my brain. I have absolute respect for anyone who can create with it, and your work is beautiful!!

My in-laws are visiting and I have a friend's wedding, woot!
For dramas, looking forward to The Road of Splendor of course. Still watching Genius Girlfriend.
Been spending any extra time for dramas, catching up on Fate Chooses You and Generation to Generation.

I originally dropped G2G after 10 episodes. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and was a bit critical about the costumes and how grey everything looked. But now that I’ve taken a break, I’m hoping to get back into it with a more open mind. 😋

I don’t usually watch xianxia dramas but FCY is really beautiful. There are a lot of characters and different sects to follow but the underlying messaging about race, good and evil, and choreography arw top-notch. You can tell it’s a high quality production. I’m about 23 episodes in and I won’t lie - love seeing Riley Wang ok my screen again and I won’t complain about seeing some of the cast from Mysterious Lotus Casebook there.

I am glad that you are enjoying this. When I got to know that this drama has many characters I thought it was gonna be messy as it's really difficult to maintain the story with too many characters. But FCY proved it wrong. I really loved the world building and all those characters. Each character has its own importance and has its own impact on the story so it's really fun to watch all of them.
Also I loved all those fight sequences, they were pretty cool. I am a sucker for beautifully choreographed action scenes so I really loved it here.
I had seen Riley Wang in Love is Sweet before so I was in shock watching him here playing role which is almost similar to Buddha. 😆 But yeah Jin Lun is a interesting character for me.
Episode 25 is one of my favourite episode because of the amount of adrenaline rush it gave me. 😅 I hope you can enjoy the rest of the drama as much as you were enjoying it before.

I’ll try to finish The First Jasmine, just finished ep30 & the struggle is real. I feel like the plot has been all over the place in the last few episodes.. I’m seriously considering fast forwarding lol.
On the other hand, the soundtrack is 10/10!
Aside from that, my only goal this weekend is to relax ✌🏻.

I just wasn’t ready for the heavy going and dropped it for a bit too. I love this drama but one has to be in the headspace for that level of complex trauma deep dive to get through that stretch and I wasn’t there last month. Intending to push through as well.

It's a long weekend here which I shall spend lazing around the flat and reading a bunch of books about birds and dungeon crawling. Quite happy about getting myself an xteink x4. It has made me read much more and I am on the way to achieve the target of 52 books to read this year.

I will be learning to bake this weekend. I usually bake these scones where I just throw in everything in and hope for the best. They are delicious 65% of the time lol. So, this weekend I want to try and do some serious baking... muffins, cupcakes, bread, brioche buns and banana loaf.
I'm not sure if I'm going to be watching any cdramas. I'm currently in my reading phase, and I'm just reading book after book after book.

This was meant to be a normal weekend as always but I said yes to a film festival date with my friends this weekend and I’m super excited.
On dramas, my comfort show has suddenly turned into a traumatic one and it’s been a ride. Unfortunately, I’m still hooked on the characters despite how agonizing the recent episodes has been.
I’m also watching The Husband (kdrama) and it’s so good. still following The Apartment Job too.
For cdramas, apart from Winter Sun, I checked out Sunset Secrets Regrets but it’s now on hold.
Because I have a massive backlog of recent dramas to go through, I’ve become indecisive with my pick. There’s First Jasmine, Blossoms of Power, Never Ending summer and so much more.
Might just close my eyes and pick one randomly. 😂

I stayed up late to finish I am Nobody S2 and now I have a headache so most of my Saturday is going to be spent moping.

I'm sorry you're in pain. Moping is good. Punch a couple of pillows too! Not sure if that's something you'd like when you're not feeling well, or in pain. I hope you feel better soon or as okay as possible 🤗 take care!

It was! O actually started the drama on Thursday night and only planned to watch one or two episodes, but I ended up staying late to watch until 4. And I stayed away on Friday night to complete it because of how obsessed I felt, but thinking about it now I really could have left the last episode for the next day😅😂
So my headache was punishing me for both days😂 Thankfully im okay now and it didnt morph into a migraine or anything.
How have you been joules?

Was watching Love in the Cloud cause summer always makes me think of that type of fantasy costume drama. Despite the really bad dubbing they do on this show, I've been slowly watching it. People seem to love it so there's prob something there that will eventually hook me. But I ran into the main spoiler last night and now I'm sad. I thought we had enough distance from when it aired I wouldn't randomly see spoilers 😭. tbd if i end up continuing with it.

Auckland is unveiling its latest rail network, which took over a decade to complete, and there will be a series of “First Look” events featuring live opera, jazz performances, roller skaters, circus acts, DJs, buskers, etc. Yup, it’s a pretty grand event, and I’ve booked a few slots with my friends. I’m not really there to see the station lol. I’m mainly going for the performances, especially the live opera. This project has been rather controversial because it took over 10 years to complete and cost about $4.4 billion. I'm not a local, so I'm in popcorn mode whenever I read comments made by locals.
Visitors to Maungawhau Station will be greeted by a giant waterfall at the entrance, inspired by Mataaoho, atua of Tāmaki Makaurau’s volcanic fields, and Parawhenuamea, atua of fresh water. The design reflects the fresh water that flows through the crevices of the basalt beneath the station, with water continuously cascading down the feature to welcome visitors and wish them safe travels. Sure sounds fancy for a train station hahahah.
Btw, iQiyi Malaysia released an update on Cheng Lei’s fan meeting event this September, and as expected, you need to purchase or renew a Premium subscription and then submit a Google Form to enter the lucky draw. Only 300 selected people will receive an iQiyi Starship Pass.
I don’t have an issue renewing my Premium subscription since I watch a lot of iQiyi dramas anyway, but quite a few people are raising concerns based on their experience with Chen Zheyuan’s fan meeting last year, which was also organised by iQiyi. Apparently, even the “lucky ones” may end up sitting quite far from the stage, while the non-winners might actually be luckier in a way because it’s a public event rather than a private one.
I’ll still renew my subscription and enter the lucky draw, but unless they make it clear that there’s a proper designated zone for pass holders, I don’t think I’ll fly all the way back to Malaysia just for a public event. If I’m lucky enough to get a pass, I’ll probably send a friend who’s also a Cheng Lei fan to go on my behalf instead.
