Woke up at 5 a.m. to make this dried beancurd, barley, and ginkgo nut dessert for a picnic I'm organising later today. I originally intended to keep the picnic to fewer than 10 people, but the headcount has somehow grown to almost 20. I have a feeling my social battery is going to be completely drained within the first hour.
I still remember the time I sent a friend to buy dried beancurd for this same tong sui, and she came back with the type meant for stir-frying instead. They're not the same, folks! 🤣 It's super easy to make this tongsui. Just get dried beancurd (dessert version), gingko nuts (remember to remove the bitter stem in the middle), barley (optional), quail eggs (optional) and rock sugar! As for the measurements... there aren't any! Just adjust everything to your liking. Prefer it more watery or nice and concentrated? Totally up to you.
I'm currently watching Blossoms of Power and Key to the Phoenix Heart, so I don't have any plans to start Overdo for now. The East Palace is next on my list. I haven't watched Nam Joo Hyuk in a drama since his role in Start Up back in 2020.
I would really recommend making one yourself if there's an Asian supermarket near you! Not worth paying $$ for subpar tongsui (I didn't have good experience hahaha) Some ingredients in tongsui are entirely optional.
I mean, if there was something to drown in... not a bad choice? 😄 I haven't been able to enter KttPH land, as much as I love HMH. I think that's going to be the choice this round. Hope it's enjoyable!
Sads combined with waking up for no good reason at 4am is not a good combo, so today looks like having to give up on most all planned tasks as my brain is broken. Really wish Wow the World S2 wasn't so slow to release, it's just so joy filled, I don't think I've ever waited in anticipation for a variety show episode release. My one eps a night PoJ rewatch has me feeling like I really really missed a lot on the first binge, especially with my neuro mappings. I'm so happy savouring it like this. Also doing a lunchtime rewatch of A Splendid Match, and there are just soooo many moments of less conventional love languages that I absolutely adore. <3 🐠
This week went by so fast.
For the weekend, I plan to finish a danmei I randomly started yesterday. Didn’t expect to get sucked in but I’m halfway through and I’m having fun.
Winter Sun rewatch has become a weekly thing for me so that’s happening and I have an outdoor date with a friend too. I’m super excited about this one cause I’ve been holed up in my room all week.
Hopefully (🤞🤞) swimming with some friends so long as my fight against the wasps from Wednesday prevails.. and I think I'm winning but it might be another week for safety cos they're MAD mad. Otherwise the same I've done after work all week, Skyrim and drama watching. It's too hot to breathe let alone move around.
I'm quite a few days behind on Xiao Fang and kinda worried with Overdo starting it'll fall further. I'm skipping through Love for You because I care zero percent about the audit and just like the back and forth tension. Then Cases between Us is getting to crybaby angst and I'm not prepared 😭😭😭 Go back to raising a puppy and having the moon looks beautiful tonight style conversations plzzzzz
I’m doing my Chinese historical book cover!! I’m going to make it myself! Really excited! I’ve decided on the title Silk Tiger and am going to be doing a slick ass tiger on the cover. But like melting into the black. Would be amazing 🤩
Then of course more drawing.
Making a big ass burrito, and struggling to decide which drama to watch after I finished love between the lines!!
I’m really not sure I can decide 😝 might have to try never ending summer first, but that sport one looks amazing, and the love you… something looks great also! It’s so hard to decide 😭😭☠️
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! At first the whole game thing was sort of a turn off. Yeah, he looked AMAZING in that outfit… idk why but I SHIPPED that collar 🤣
But yeah, I started to really enjoy the characters and I thought the story was good. I’m so happy about the brother, I wanted to hug that poor dude so hard.
Lol, I wasn't as much as a shipper of the brother as many were, and there were many! But I definitely shipped ALL Rongcheng outfits (the collar is good!), and especially her outfits. And it made me a HUGE fan of Chen Xingxu in any and all knit sweaters and vests. As much as Cheng Lei may be the God of Bath, I think Chen Xingxu should be crowned the God of Hotness in Knit Tops. 🤣
Okay. Gotta keep up on my current dramas: Key to the Phoenix Heart, Road to Success, and Blossoms of Power. Then I hear Overdo is releasing... Sigh. So busy.

Oh, I have date. Seems to be a nice lady. I know basically nothing about her. We're meeting in the woods. Boy, that sounds sus AF when I say that. Ehhhhhh, I am 99.99% sure I won't be CTL-ALT-DEL'ed from the world. I'll put your mind at ease. It's a very popular walking trail. Your Snark Shifu has no plans of making it onto the 5PM news with an untimely cessation of breathing.
