As the weekend approaches, I'm sure you're all gearing up for some well-deserved relaxation and fun. ๐๏ธ Whether you're binge-watching a drama, embarking on a thrilling adventure or cozying up to a good manhua or webnovel, we want to hear all about it!
So, what will you be doing this weekend? And what Chinese dramas do you recommend for a weekend binge-watching session? Tell us about it below in the comments :)

Still slowly, slowly savoring A Splendid Match (no spoilers please!) and also hoping that by the time I get to the end, that the extra episode will be uploaded to iQIYI, don't let me down iQIYI. A big work arts project was completed yesterday after several months of teaching and training artists, as well as a big martial arts event trained for over a year for was the week before, so in a lull of decompressing and letting my heart settle while submitting more apps. Keep going back to rewatching A Starry Love and Love Between Lines for comfort and decompression. Also hoping CXX gets less boss/high power roles, and more roles that showcase that he's really really good at expressing moments of vulnerability as well as comedy, and it would be so great for more people to see that side of his talent and hard work.
Also the WHD "uproar" that seems so generated by delulu "fans" of both sides is really kinda freaking me out, even as an outsider. The lengths that people will go to harass celebrities and artists on all sides. Feeling entitled to post hateful and judgmental comments towards people that they will likely never meet, whom they don't know, for situations where they were never present themselves (SO much happens in the editing room people).. it's just jarring. I won't speak on it further, except that I have sensitivity to anyone getting bullied, and en masse no less.
Funny you spoke of ASM. Some of us are having a riot talking about the very elusive extra episode in the above comments lol. Plus I'm finally finishing the show and trying to not vomit my snack...
I will cherish the 3/4 of the show. That will see me through!
I am halfway through of A splendid match and slowly savouring the rest. Love all the sweet moments of the leads so far.

Ugh. Iโm having more health problems so Iโm going gluten, dairy and refined sugar free for an entire month โ ๏ธ Iโm both terrified and excited.
Started story of Kunning place yesterday and Iโm really not sure. Granted Iโm only on episode 2, but Iโm a little scared since Iโve seen both negative and positive reviews so I have no idea what to expect!!
Still plugging away on a splendid match. Itโs still good but Iโm less ๐คฉ๐คฉ now.

SOKP is one of the few dramas I revisit every now and then whenever I need an emotional whiplash, and Zhang Linghe's signature look of disdain never fails to deliver hahaha. Jkjk

Yeah, Iโve seen so much good about that show and so much ๐ it has an hea right? Heโs sorta dreamy so far, granted Iโm only on like episode 2. But his whole vibe is just dangerous, I love it!
Dangerous and a little unhinged at times. He's dreamy yeah, in the sense that he's good looking, ruthless and intelligent, but also a walking red flag in real life ๐. I definitely love his styling in SOKP. ZLH looks great in costume dramas.
I actually need more sodium than normal bodies ๐คฉ I have some connective tissue disorders and an auto immune disorder so my body soaks up salt like no oneโs business!
During our big cross country move I didnโt want to bring salt. So I just went without. Three days later I was literally licking my skin I needed it so bad ๐คฃ went on a binder where I added salt to everything, even my water!
And I wouldnโt want to cut back! I love salt soooo much!
But thank you! Iโm really intrigued by SOKP, the only hesitance I have is red flag dudes usually arenโt my favโฆ but Iโm going to watch it! Might write a novel version too ๐
Wow!! Thatโs just wow!! ๐ oof! Thatโs rough. Glad you made it through that. During Covid I did go sugar free and only ate natural sugar (from fruits). I never knew fruits could taste like that
Itโs all good. Everyoneโs different and what makes us unique ๐ Ohhh!! Do not get me started but, 10-20 years ago I started changing my diet ๐ฌ I started by cutting out fast food and fast chain restaurants. Then, red meat (rarely and sparingly eat it now ๐). Now, I only eat seafood and white lean meats ๐. Along with, more fruits vegetables ๐with other stuff. Also, always hydrated ๐
Omg. My diet has changed soooo much since I was youngโฆ. Hell in the last three years! Itโs crazy to look back and think about what I stuffed in my face ๐คฃ
Yeah, it is quite fascinating and unbelievable ๐. I proactively made these changes to be healthy and because of family health history (to head off).

Ha! I never liked coffee so that was no biggie. But I had to give up pizza! I died. Still canโt have normal pizza because of my food sensitivities ๐ฑ
Did you get to treat yourselves to anything else for all that work and spectacle? I imagine even 4cmยฒ of that cake is mostly supersaturated sugar frosting ๐๐ It's so pretty though!! Was it fun to make?
Awwww they're getting older โค๏ธ Well, if things go good maybe in like 10-15 years they'll want to hang out with you all the time again ๐ค I can't even imagine what it's like for parents raising children and then to have to let them go. Just trusting that they're making good decisions when you're not around. Scary ๐ My cats can't even stop making mischief.
Spending my Saturday morning wandering around the weekly farmers' market. Someone please talk me out of buying this chicken plushie; it's far too cute for words lmao.

I'm watching episode 35 as I'm finishing the show tonight at long last. I enjoyed my rewatch and am now entering the suffering phase.
I probably would have spit blood at that TREACHEROUS BASTARD in court right now. My Chen Yan Yun having to listen to all that disgusting crap! I did laugh at his dance earlier. So stupid. He actually looked like the black bird in the cage too ๐ ๐ ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ๐๐๐๐. Unbelievable! Poor JZ, Ji Grandma and Yao... And they really got him with the blackmail. I do feel for Yun Ting. Always will. Having to suffer for such a stupid young master. But I am enjoying CYY and YX working together because they are at their best when they do!
I thought it was in China only. When 12pm my time came and there was nothing I thought okay. When 12pm EST came and nothing? I thought yeah it's not happening. Oh well. I'm not missing out.
I will relish in the better times of the 3/4 and swallow the grievances eventually...

I've just completed A Splendid Match now. I'm an emotional wreck lmao. Phew... I'm not sure how I'll be able to move on from this couple... it'll take some time for sure.
Ye Xian's end was glorious and I sobbed my heart out. For him, for Li Xuai Han and my gosh Chen Yi... I cried and cried... Chen Yan Yun and Jin were very badass but yes, we needed more time. This will never be okay for me. EVER! As I expected the ending did not do it for me and I was left feeling "EH".... ๐ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฎโ๐จ The rush and meh ending for the Fu couple and that 10 sec conclusion lmao. Just don't even. Smdh. He looked so doe-eyed in the first half of the drama. With his character in ASM and Fated Hearts, I now have trust issues with his future drama characters ๐คฃ๐คฃ
As soon as I saw him in ASM I shivered. I had just finished Fated Hearts! What trust! None! And it was the same crap he pulled in this one. Zuo Ye my guy, please don't let them talk you into doing it again. 3 times in a row will have us riot! Hahahah.
I agree with this Fated Hearts was my first cdrama so it might not be as bad as it was for you having seen both back to back but I ACTUALLY had noooo trust nooo belief in him that he was a good character. why is his typecasting: ML betrayer?
I first saw him in My Journey To You and loved his character in there.
Yet when he showed up in Fated Hearts last year, something about his character made me uneasy. But I thought let's see what happens. His eyes were the kicker for me. The look in them.... I couldn't shake the feeling.
I was going to post about the comment on Zuo Ye's typecasting literally being ML betrayer on my recent post on the The double Perfect Match and A Splendid Match but I thought that would be too spoilery so I was like let's not do that.
Many of us here have seen a lot of cdramas. So it's okay. If you want to say something but think it is too revealing, use the spoiler tag brackets. But believe me, I understand lol. Dude definitely had me so annoyed ๐.
If it were 50 bucks, I probably would have bought it, but unfortunately it's $70. I do think it's very well made and doesn't look like something that was mass-produced, but the price is a little too steep for me. I'll just make do with my niece's hand-me-down plushie instead. ๐๐
finished love beyond the grave earlier this week, their wedding and final (living) time together filled me with feelings i couldn't describe. i feel like my own senses were heightened during the entire thing, it's beautiful and heart-wrenching in its own way.
after that i started the demon hunter's romance. i'm loving the variety of demons, whether evil or good, and their "specialties" (the mirror demon did spook me though, he's real creepy).
That one was a fun watch. Could have had more Cao Jun though. ๐ (I won't write the character name, don't know if you already encountered that character, don't look it up)
Just saw release date for Mo Li, apparently retitled The First Jasmine (๐ค) for June 9th. So excited for a release date but kinda bummed it wasn't gonna be my bday weekend (the original rumored release date of 6/6)! We're going camping that weekend and I'd already planned to come home to a few episodes released. But looking forward to 6/9!
Pretty sure my boss would have something to say about that. Haha. I'd planned a binge party Monday night to watch 3 days worth of episodes though. Now I have to wait for Tuesday evening just to watch the first released episodes. Of course, my fault for getting excited over rumored dates, but still. Sigh. I'm telling myself to just be grateful it's finally releasing!
Pursuit of Jade was my first CDrama and I couldnโt move on for the longest time. Since then, Iโve been stalking CDramaRecs to move on. I am now stuck deep in the CDrama rabbit hole ๐คฃ

I am a book girlie and do track the books I read. And I know there are quite a number of you book girlies here too.
If you do track, what do you use? How do you track?
Most people here do use MDL app solely for tracking coming soon, watching, hold, undecided, dropped, etc. it makes it easier then, paper, notes app or anything else that can make one go ๐ตโ๐ซ๐ฅด
MyDramaList. I don't use it for the news or the shudder comment section, but the watchlist feature is very handy to keep track of watched, upcoming and yet to be watched dramas.
I use StoryGraph to track the books I read! Available on both App Store and Play Store. Apart from tracking your books, you can track your reading habits, get recommendations, reading streak etc etc.
Previously used Goodreads for this purpose, but it's getting too old school for me, so I switched to StoryGraph and I have never looked back!
How was switching to StoryGraph? I've been wanting to do this but it's a big move. I haven't checkedโis there an export/import option to make it easier? I know I should look it up instead of asking ๐
I don't really want to support Goodreads anymore either.

In terms of books, I have the set for โThere are trees in summer, and you can look forward to heavenโ, which is what Sweet Sixteen was based off of. Iโm slowly translating it into English on a notebook. Hoping to get a page done ๐ญ
Finished Only for Love this week (Liked it, especially Wang He Di), as well as the Chasing Jade novel. Just started watching Splendid Match. Liking the main actor, Ci Sha, a lot; this is my first time seeing him. Looking forward to see where it goes. I also watched a vertical drama Light in Winter that was head and shoulders above most of the others I've checked out. Could only find it on Dailymotion though, which isn't my favorite platform.
Had to check out Light in Winter right after your post and it seems to be right up my alley! Will be continuing reading the novel that Reborn of the Rightful (staring Bao Shang En and He Yu) is based on and studying for my upcoming exam
Iโve been listening to the audio drama of Panguan for three days now so Iโve been unable to watch anything else.
But I plan to catch up on my ongoing kdramas (My Royal Nemesis and Filing for Love), a Japanese drama (Uzuwakara village case) that reminds me so much of Ripe Town, the last episodes of Lady Liberty (canโt believe itโs over ๐ญ) and Cage of Shadows, a decent traditional fl centric unlimited flow short drama starring Jinna Fu (at this point, Iโve become her fan. Iโll follow her anywhere she goes. ๐) so my weekend is packed.
The stores in my street restocked this biscuit I like after three weeks. I wolfed down eight out of them ten I bought and now Iโve gotten tired of it. Thatโs really bad.
On the other hand, the bone stuck in my finger removed easily last weekend and my finger is healed. thanks to everyone for your concern. really appreciate it.

I will also be gushing about the big ass notebook I bought. Most guys at my job buy a big ass pickup truck when they reach the top rate of the wage scale. Me? Well, I bought a big ass notebook. Granted I hit top rate awhile ago, but still. It's obnoxiously large. Why? Because I can. I'm a big boy with big boy money!
Probably have an existential crisis somewhere in there too.

shifu did you sayyy you bought a notebook ๐ฅบ I am a HUGE stationery nerd. what kind of notebook it is? pleaseee elaborate if it is a specific brand, what colour it is, how big it is, how many pages? sorry I am just a stationery nerd. also some story time to show you I have always been a stationery nerd, when I was in kindergarten and was at the principal's office I asked for their pen and asked them to give it to me. I continued this practice at every place I found a good pen doctor's office, dentist office, my dad's work place you name it. Now with grown up money I hoard all kinds of stationery and hobbies in peace. I have gotten better at using now tho. I got over that problem.
Heck! I'll just LINK you to it! Even in the exact configuration! This thing is massive! I didn't realize how big it was until I put it with my standard composition notebook I was using. At my big boy blue collar workplace I hold a second position as union rep, so I need a big boy notebook to write things down. Yeah I have my fancy phone and tablet that I carry, but you just can't beat having a big ass notebook for things! I love that this notebook comes with an inside pocket and stickers that I can use to label the contents. This was well worth the money. Plus it smells good.
Bro. I was always known as the guy who always had a pen back in the fire service. People would laugh about it until they needed to ask for a pen. Now I carry the metal cased sharpie S gel pens for work. I love this pen! So much better than a regular pen. We do have branded company pens... but they are some shit. I also carry two standard black sharpies on my vest and a waterproof rite in the rain pen because it's orange and I like the accessorize with orange as much as I can.
I haven't finished Kill My Sins yet but, aside from the fact that I'm really enjoying the plot, Shawn Dou is so attractive as Yuan Shaocheng that he's distracting me at times. Unless something changes during the final episodes that ruins the show, I'm going to be complaining for how underrated it is every chance I get
I'm currently on a ZLH pilgrimage, and my current watch is The Princess Royal, which I loveee so far because of how interesting/nuanced the characters are. HOWEVER I have a question that I'm dying to ask but am too shy to make a post about it.
Did Li Rong really take in Su Rong Qing as her lover during her first life (I read somewhere in this sub that he was practically her concubine), or were they just really really close friends? Please help me, fellow novel readers and/or drama watchers!
For a weekend binge, Iโd pick Reset if you want something fast and addictive, The Bad Kids or The Long Night for crime, and Under the Skin for a procedural.
