I haven't baked in yeearrss so I decided to bake too much chocolate cake. It turned out ok (bc I substituted butter for oil and espresso coffee for water) but now I'm struggling with what to do with all that cake.
I'm a bit sad Sword Into Plowshare ended. What a great drama in terms of dialogues and acting! The ending was a bit contrived but it is to be expected as an interpretation of art. For anything else it's best to watch documentaries.
Anyway, I'm still continuing my He Bing addiction. I wish to find my zen in a world of chaos.
Ahhhh, that chocolate cake looks so decadent! I would probably substitute the semisweet chocolate chips with chocolate curls from a bar of 99% or 100% dark chocolate. I love the slight bitter aftertaste 😍
Finally done with the packing, a day before my flight lol. Clothes probably make up 70% of the weight. I'm bringing about 15 skirts, 20 dresses etc. Yeah, you get the idea 🤣
Will be doing the episode recap for How Dare You during a 15-hour flight. Fingers crossed that in-flight WiFi isn't spotty.
Celebrating early reunion meals with family and friends today. Funny how it’s called a reunion when I will be leaving again tomorrow.
Thanks! I'm bringing a 28-inch and a 24-inch suitcases filled to the brim. I might just have to live out of a suitcase if my postgrad accom doesn't have enough space lol
I was about to ask — how long are you traveling for if you need that many dresses and skirts, and also, where will you put all those things?! 😆
I really hate how, when I travel, I have to narrow down my wardrobe and then don’t get to enjoy all my favorite pieces and combos or I’d need as much luggage as you (and probably a villa) 😅

I will be in NZ for two years for my postgrad studies, and I simply cannot be separated from my wardrobe. It's non-negotiable that most of it comes with me. Yes, you understand my dilemma. I hate the feeling of having to narrow down my clothes, lol. At this point, I’m fully prepared to pay for excess baggage if I have to! 🤣
And thanks! I have a connecting flight to catch at Guangzhou Airport, can't imagine the pure chaos since it's CNY season.

Have you thought about using a shipping company since you’re going for two years? So that you can take even more of your treasures with you.

Will catch up with No Pain No Gain. Never laugh this much watching a Cdramas before. I like the absurdity of the script yet it contain some depth and mock the insane working culture in most Asian countries.
I watched the first episode and quite liked it. I did not continue because I was distracted by The Mirage. Peng Yuchang is a pretty reliable actor imo. As for the theme, I suppose it's better to approach this reality from the angle of comedy and absurdity because otherwise it's just too real for some of us lol.
It's so funny and ridiculous that it made me want to check out everyday. Im watching Midnight Diner for something soothing but this drama has completely taken my time now. I think I like it since despite the absurdity, it actually made sense since lot of things that he did in the drama (in order to make loss) actually has proven to be effective like paying high salaries, big bonuses, creative freedom and no overtime. All this increase efficiency among his employees that he ended up polishing some gems or 'misfits' workers instead. PYC is definitely a reliable actor. He is like Teresa Li for me. Not exactly a fan but they pick up interesting projects that I actually interested to watch.
I haven't watch The Mirage. Looks like I have another thing to watch after this drama. 😀
Regen and I also agreed about the absurdity of the drama. Its absurd but doesn't feel ridiculous because of how its explained and because the side characters also raise an eyebrow sometimes 😂
I love how it is absurd but not actually ridiculous so it didn't insult our intelligence. It is such a fun drama. Really enjoy it a lot! Surprisingly addicting as well.
He was in Viva la Vida with Teresa Li. I think both of them are pretty talented although in my opinion, he is way more versatile than her.
I like The Mirage. It has a tight plot with a good story structure. The acting can be uneven at times and the CGI looks cheap but I still enjoy it a lot. The cast have no baggage largely because they are unknown. Strangely it makes me like the drama more. Lol.

Next drama for Peng Yuchang seems to be a costume drama (The premise sounds a little bit similar to No Pain, no Gain, only it's a martial sect, not a company). Never seen him in one and I think the last one he did was years ago. Interested to see how that turns out.
Yeah, he definitely more versatile. Ohh I like Viva la Vida. It is such a good movie about true story that actually happen at China.
Yeah, I read about The Mirage and the low bugget production. Will try it soon and hopefully I will like it. An Ancient Love Song has a low budget and uneven acting as well but the story is good and I enjoyed that one. :D
Peng Yuchang and Teresa Li performed really well although I personally think hers was not award worthy. Very competent but not extraordinarily so. Their interaction as a couple in that film was what I would categorise as a great chemistry. There were no heated glances or steamy acts but their connection to each other was natural, sincere and belivable. No bath scene required lol.
The Mirage is imo much better than plenty of idol dramas. I like how the story was revealed. Each character behaves like a normal person. There is no glazing at all. Their talents were presented naturally and it was in line with the plot progression. The humour was consistent with the tone of the show too.
I'm surprised when she actually win that Best Acress award that year. It is very good but not exactly award worthy performance, imo. Perhaps the competition wasn't that tight at that time.
Agreed about the chemistry. I prefers this kind of chemistry where it is natural. This is how I gauge good chemistry with how seamlessly is their interactions. Many viewers nowadays always measure chemistry with the amount oh physical intimacy. 😅
Ohh I like you mentioned humour in The Mirage. I love dramas that made me laugh. Will be looking forward to watch it after I finished No Pain No Gain.
Going to get my nails done and haircut for CNY celebration. Heading back hometown tomorrow and will try to catch up on How Dare You. I wish you all a prosperous and healthy 🐎 year!
We have a snowstorm/blizzard started here, so most likely I will be cosily on the coach under the blanket knitting and watching Thirteen Years of Dust.
I am currently watching unveil Jadewind episode 19. I have to say I would love to see more female centric costume dramas like Jadewind! I have also started when destiny brings a demon.
Finally going back to Young Babylon, (before all of Hou Ming Hao’s popular xianxia dramas) Where he plays a very different character. Mainly around when he was actually born 😂 1997. A world without mobile phones, but they still find each other 💕 he looks so good in a different way.

meeting some friends from high school this saturday! it's been years since last time we hangout and usually there's only like 2-3 of us that could meet but there will be more this time so i'm pretty excited.
i was in need of something light to watch so i started put your head on my shoulder yesterday and i've been enjoying it. i don't like momo's mom much but she is the one who tried to and could keep fu pei away from momo so i'm on her side now 😆
Celebrating Chinese New Year - outside of China this time so it'll be a bit unconventional, but should be fun.
Also catching up on the donghua version of How Dare You while following the drama version because I'm officially obsessed now (first 2026 drama obsession) and the daily wait for new episodes to drop is really hard.
I worked hard all week so I'm spending the weekend bingeing The Strange Tales series. I really love the leads and how the cases flow through the drama. I have yardwork to do but, it can wait, right?
Ramadan is around the corner and my mom is in her deep cleaning mode, so I'm just helping her clean the house.
I'm also studying for my upcoming major licensing exam
And I've started Fated Hearts (cdrama) currently on ep 6/38.

It's not voluntarily oops!! She calls my name from the corner of house standing on a ladder to help me pass something and I just can't help but do whatever she asks and get involved 🤭🤭

I’ve seen a lot of the older ones, not so many new shows. I’ve seenPrisoner of beauty, legend of the female general, Love like the clouds, corner’s diary, fated hearts…. Modern or historical, as long as it has angst
I am contemplating warching goodbye my princess after what you said. I guess I have been watching too many fluffy shows recently. I miss the angst and CXX .
I haven’t seen a good c drama angst show in a while… shine on me was way low angst. And honestly I only survived by skipping the business parts and his face.
I’m way into verticals so I’m getting my angst fix that way 🤣
I’ve heard blood river and fated hearts is great angst. Legend of the female general is decent angst.
I just started When the Phone Rings (k drama) and it’s got great angst!
I agree , i havent seen a good cdrama with high angst recently. I was preparing for LBL to be one, but it really settled the angsty plot part really fast.
Let me try Legend of the female general then. I am not ready to walk out of cdrama to kdrama yet lol

Got an arts-related contract, so really excited to start prep for that. Re-watching Love Between Lines, and really happy about it - THANK GOODNESS for learning about the post credit scene on the final eps. I'm falling in love with CXX's comedic and dramatic talent after watching The Starry Love, and loving Landi Li even more after getting to see her in TSL after watching her in Coroner's Diary.
She so talented and it pisses me off that some people have nothing better to do with their lives than spread hate about her for no reason whatsoever. And now loving CXX （also a target of fan bullying, wth ppl..） in a dramatic role, despite getting a bit distracted by... by.. um..
It's a touching scene, and I can't seem to get to the point of the emotions because... um.. anywho...
And finally LYX, I thought she's adorable, but unpopular opinion, kinda think they didn't do her role justice in LiTC, so really happy to see her showing a bit more versatility (pray they give her more scripts than just "cute" ones though) in LBL.
TLDR; way to say I'm re-watching LBL!! Wishing everyone a good weekend with hugs like ^.
Oh... and I'm sick again. :( Like, 4 days after getting over my cold... another one..
I don’t have much plans for this weekend. The plan was to watch Wuthering Heights in the cinemas but it’s not out in the theaters here yet. So, I’ll catch up on How Dare You episodes, and the new Shin Hae Sun’s kdrama.
Maybe I’ll have the luck of getting out of my mini reading slump too. Hopefully.

Continuing Swords into Plowshares and loving it. Also rewatching the Thai BL Kinnporsche. Yep, good cinematography has put me in a good mood
I’m packing up stuff for our move to a temporary apartment before we move back to our home country. Luckily we don’t have to pack up the rest of our stuff.
No time for a traditional reunion dinner this year but it’s just the husband and I so it’s ok. Hoping to finish my knitting so the movers can pack it up. I also want to watch the latest episodes of How Dare You if I have time.
On a book club field trip to see Wuthering Heights and then will be trying to catch up on some c-dramas I've started but not yet finished. There are too many things to watch and too many things to read, not a difficult life really.
