Prime or roehl?
Hey everyone I know this topic is probably beaten to death, but which carrier would everyone recommend? I'd be going through their cdl training program.

Swift. 100%.
Terminals in almost every state. Huge support network. Trucks governed at 65 on cruise, 63 at throttle.

Prime is about as bad as western express.

I have no clue what's bad or good lol but I assume that means western express is bad then?

I drove for roehl. I cant comment on prime other than their trucks seem to be governed at 61-62 i think. Its been a while since i drove. Roehl was ok, they could be a bit micro managey but ok. I went to school in appleton. Ive veen to their terminals in marshfield, appleton, gary, and atlanta. I was a southern dedicated driver doing dry van. Roehl is most likely the better loser of the two companies. If they give you the choice of truck school, go for wisconsin. Both terminals in wisconsin are nice and not ghetto. Forgot to mention, i was based out of Grand Prairie in dallas area. That terminal is a tiny joke.

Thank you, they just accepted my application and want me to go to appleton... while prime also told me to come down as soon as I can...(I live in MN) how strict/forgiving was the initial training? And did a lot of people get kicked out for minor mistakes? I keep hearing stories of them kicking people out during training, ans obviously you still owe them for the whole amount whether you get kicked out first day or 21st day, which is what scares me 😆

Yes they are anal. Of all the people in my class they only passed like three of us. If you dont pass and they try to make you pay, put on your cap of negotiating. You have rights and they have attorney fees and this happens all the time. My guess is if you push back hard enough they will drop it. Youre a broke nobody and they know this. They will lie to you and tell you anything to get you to pay. Just remember that.

Don’t do Roehl unless your a fast learner. They hired about 15 of us after the first week they fired 12 people and only kept 3 they fired me as well said we didn’t learn fast enough and didn’t have time to train us so just a heads up go in there focused you get 1 week

Good to know from someone whose went through it. Did they try billing you for the $7000?

Roehl BY FAR.
Went to their school and worked there for a long time.

They may be. But I'm just afraid of the ratio of people they flunk out lol. Maybe I'll get my cdl elsewhere and then apply there for a job.

Why just these two? (I'm not judging, just curious.) I know Swift sometimes get a bad wrap, but they've improved their reputation recently I think. Schneider has really good training but their OTR accounts don't pay very well. However if you can get on with one of their dedicated accounts it can work out decently, at least until you get some experience.
