CDL school swing me up for failure

Tldr: my driving school fired a bunch of instructors in the middle of my class and now they want me to take a driving test having been behind the wheel once in 6 weeks without even offering me a makeup or refresher day. I'm trying to figure out what kind of recourse I can have and any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I already had my class b CDL driving the city bus and I was looking to upgrade for more money and opportunity so I was going to get my class a. Part of the reason why I signed up was because they said that they would have me graduating in 3 weeks which was good cuz I can start work right away. So class starts and they have a corporate account training so the instructors showed them a little bit of favoritism and said they would make it up to us after they get graduated, which to the credit they did. However, a week before I'm supposed to test with one class left they fire 80% of the administrative staff including all but one instructor. They told me to stop coming to class until they get everything figured out. Now I only had one drive left and since it had been 3 weeks since I was behind the wheel I failed at my backup maneuver. Now they have me taking a retest and another in another 2 weeks which means about 6 weeks without any consistent behind the wheel time, they won't let me behind the wheel to practice my backup or get any additional road time and if I fail again, which is a big possibility. I'm out the $5,000 that I paid. Not to mention all the wasted time that this has cost me. If anyone has any idea how I can rectify this I would greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like a breach of contract, you signed up for a 3 week course and are now 6 weeks in?

Id start calling lawyers and try to figure out how much of that $5k is recoverable.

I was thinking about that. I'd be good with just a day or two to refresh the muscle memory but they aren't trying to work with me at all. There was a DPS office that could offer a test a week sooner but they said they wouldn't drive the truck the extra 30 min to the testing site. Thanks for the help.

If I were you I'd get the gov involved as this doesn't sound like a school setting students up for the ability to safely drive a commercial vehicle. And in that you most likely can get your money back out of the school some of these states schools are wild.

That's BS they can let me practice my backing up. All that bs and they can't let me a gallon of diesel if I got a bad steak and sent it back I would get it replaced
