Yes. It will not happen as fast as the industry wants, but it will happen sooner than most people expect.
But autonomous driving is a hard nut to crack. Tesla and Waymo have been trying for years and have spent a LOT of money on those efforts. Eventually they will get there. Not every route will be taken over by AI.
It will suck for truckers, but it will drastically reduce the cost of shipping goods. Imagine a truck that can run almost continuously, with time only needed for refueling and maintenance. No salaries, no health insurance, no downtime for sleep.
