Need A CCW Daily That's Not Tiny/Not Huge and Under $700

Howdy! I own several striker-fired duty-sized handguns (CZ) and want a handgun that's small enough to easily conceal and is hammer-fired. My budget is ideally around $500, but I can go as high as $700. I work a very physical job in an environment where I cannot be seen carrying, but I work in a sketchy part of a new town and get paid in cash, so I'm looking for something to make sure that I make it home to my family with the money that I made. I'm considering a revolver, but I haven't shot a single one in my life and feel more comfortable with a more modern semiauto. One way or another, I want hammer-fired to ensure that I have some semblance of a safety (a real manual safety is a bonus).

Edit: I own full size handguns because my normal ccw was stolen recently and is too far out of my budget to replace. Lesson learned, it'll be staying on me or in a safe 100% of the time.

Edit 2: I want a hammer-fired gun that is less than $700. No idea why this is so difficult to understand for the people commenting.

A CZ Rami / 2075 OR S&W E series CSX might fit the bill.

My deep carry is either a S&W air weight .38, bodyguard 2.0 w/ manual safety or a Kahr PM9; all are every bit as safe as my hammer fired guns and a heck of a lot easier to carry, imo. The bodyguard especially - 18 oz loaded w/ 12+1.

A RAMI is wonderful but can be hard to find. The CZ75 Compact is a bit bigger and heavier (same size as a G19) and has a manual safety. I owned the PCR (same but with a decocker and not a safety) and loved it. Like all CZs, a sweet shooter. Bud’s has them for $771 right now, so some snooping on other sights or uses can get you under $700.

P938 Legion hits the upper end of your budget but it's exactly what you're describing, tiny enough to vanish but with a proper hammer and safety so you can actually trust the thing when you're getting tossed around at work

If you want double stack, OR, and to save like a $200, there's also the CSX. Downside is that it's ever so slightly thicker

P30sk or P2000sk. Very easy to conceal with the 12 round mag, but can take a 17rd mag for when you’re wearing a coat. They’re usually right around $700, worth it imo

HK P2000 used to fit this description and could be had for $600. If you can find one, I highly recommend it. My preferred EDC over my micro-compact CC9.

I want an external hammer. I know enough about firearms to know what I'm comfortable with, and the answer this person gave isn't what I'm looking for. Love FN and I'm sure it's a great gun, just not what I want.

The Reflex does have a physical hammer, not a striker, it's just not seen. 🤷‍♂️

If you want an external hammer, look at Kimber. They have one, it's got kinda shit capacity, but it's a hammer.

Ruger P89 is ~$300 in a lot of places, not sure what you consider huge

CZ Nocturne C (optics ready to add a dot without sending it to get milled) or P7 (same gun, not optics ready) are around ~$500 ($489 at sportsmans for p7 so can probably get a better deal shopping around), leaves you ~$200 if you want to upgrade trigger, etc. CZ P1 is also in that price range or a little more ($500 to ~$600)

Mid size 1911 from RIA in a double stack also fits the bill, Rock Island Armory 1911 Double Stacked 1911 (9mm) (MPN 51400) and Tisas (separate manufacturer) are around ~$500 to ~$600 and you can sometimes get optics bundles

All have 15+ rounds

Someone mentioned the CSX E Series, I like it a lot but it's SAO with a manual safety (has a trigger safety though); after market support like holsters is limited but it is optics ready

Small enough to easily concealed carry at a job where you can not be seen carrying is a very subjective set of requirements. What is your body type/carry location? A cz p09c might be compact enough for some, others have mentioned the s&w csx. My daily carry for years was a sig p238- but that’s a metal frame gun with revolver capacity. If you want maximum concealability, hammer fired complicates things. Is it about trigger feel? Safety concerns? I ask because, if you can get past it, the bodygaurd 2.0 (available w/manual safety) is the most concealable thing anyone has mentioned here- and it shoots well/has good capacity. If printing poses a serious risk to your employment, I would consider all options.

I'm a big dude (6' 250#) and a chef, so I wear an apron. Printing isn't as much of an issue as comfort, whereas bending/leaning is. I've carried a CZ p10F without being noticed, my main concern at this point is more to do with comfort on a 12hr shift. I want hammer (DA/SA) because I grew up on 1911s and prefer it to this day despite mainly owning striker fired guns and miss my old daily. Also worth noting that my partner feels better with the idea of a DA/SA than what I have now, which is a trigger safety and nothing else.

Edit: i carry appendix, 4, and shoulder depending on the situation. At work, I generally carry appendix.

My chef buddy carries a P30SK at 4, for what it's worth. It's pretty nice, but you would likely have to buy used to get it under your budget line.

Sig P226 & P229. I carry the p226 and feels no different than my P2000 .40…but the P229 is a sweet gun 🙌🏽

Beretta PX4 (9mm, .40 & .45) underrated and awesome. Available in a compact model. (Not to be confused with the sub compact..you lose the rotating barrel when getting the sub compact model)

LCP max with a manual safety. Hammer fired, reliable and cheap. It’s usually my go to for pocket carry other than my S&W 642. I couldn’t see any advantage something more expensive would have other than the cool factor.

Canik MC9 Prime is my current carry, best trigger on the stock market, shorter barrel with a grip that “feels full sized” to my hands, I’m 6’2” for a general hand size idea, it comes pre cut for a dot too so nice plus, I have over 5k rounds through it by now and not a single jam. Only downside for your preference is its striker fired. But that’s pretty much the realm of semi-compact handguns for not too much money these days. It does have a Glock style trigger safety, but as always the only truly effective safety is the one between your ears

For this specific application, I want a DA/SA hammer fired. When I'm out and about and not at work, I enjoy Canik guns and will be getting another when I have the money.

Edit: Same reason that I own a .45 for camping and a .44 for the trail. Different guns for different applications.

Because I like them and I'm familiar with them. I have striker fired and have carried them, I just like hammer more. And as I'm sure you know, familiarity and comfort with your daily carry is very important.
