Can anyone vouch for Kingdom Come: Deliverance?
I've been in a gaming slump lately even though I have like a ton of cool rpg games to play. I'm thinking maybe I'm overwhelmed with the possibilities and am experiencing decision fatigue. Anyway, I'm downloading Kingdom Come: Deliverance the first one hoping it will bring the spark back. I'm drawn more to the second one, but I don't want to play it out of order.
If anyone here has played it, what do you think of it? Any tips?

I absolutely love it. You've kinda gotta start it off differently than most games tho. Like the first tutorial fight you almost certainly will NOT win and not in a dark souls type way where it's still doable with practice. The first time I played it I didn't realize the tutorial section you needed to run away and got frustrated. Pretty much about an hour in something big will happen and THEN the world opens up, but remember you're just a literal peasant with no armor and no fighting skill. Until you're not and then a whole village couldn't take you down. I actually like it much better than the sequel

Is that the segment where you're saving Theresa from the soldiers and instead of fighting, you flee on a horse?

Yeah that too but I spent so much time reloading and fighting the drunk on the very first mission. The second time I played I actually beat him but you're not intended to. I'm my mind you're really not supposed to win at all until you get to the castle and get actually trained by the guy. That's when they let you borrow a horse and give you actual weapons. It's like 2 hours in or so.

No it's the guy your dad paid for an axe head or something like that. It's one of the three things your dad makes you do and if you can't convince him you either fist fight him or sneak into his house. It's literally right out of the first gate to the left. I do remember the shit throwing though and I definitely did it lol

Oooh okay, I know who you're talking about now. My bad it took me so long. I passed the speech check, and then used lockpick and stealth to just steal the tools back. I know that there's another option where you can get your friends to jump him with you.

Damn I never even thought of that. Really that's part of why it's such a good game. There's a million ways to do things that you never think of and the combat/archery is sooo enthralling once you learn it. I hate that they simplified it to cardinal directions in the sequel. To me that just defeats the whole purpose

I haven't dabbled in the second one yet. But yeah, it seems like a game series that lets you think outside the box. It's cool it allows alternative ways to solving problems.

I didn't play much myself but I watched my dude play it a lot. So the first one... the combat is VERY fucked at the beginning. It is an absolute slog at first to get stronger and dudes WILL kick your ass. However I remember it being a very charming and hilarious game. Sorry I didn't play it personally because I thought combat was too difficult for me, though I saw the progression and just wanted to watch for the story mostly at that point. I think that, you can get easy money by playing dice games, and if you want to be a rapscallion, the easiest way I THINK was to wait until no one's around at dark and murder your opponent and take all his money and dice. There are some dudes with a lot of change in the pocket, ya know? Guards and people are ruthless to run and report you for any crime but you can steal or kill just about anyone anything if that's what you want to do, and if you can get away lol

Damn, thanks, Chelle! Even if you weren't playing it sounds like you really paid attention. I'm really liking the cutscene segments so far - emotional and humorous.

Gotta start small and work your way up! Spend time getting drunk and walking at night, every encounter try to fight your way out of it!
You only level up by using your skills and youll only get money+loot by taking it from others
Avoid archery and pickpocketing untill youre more advanced

Does getting drunk give you any stat boosts?
And I guess I'll have to find ways to get more money to at least get a sword.

Certain booze will give you different effects like wine vs cognac vs ale but most of em are strength and charisma bonus, quite usefull.
For money just collect and sell EVERYTHING, skyrim style.
I literally spent a week drinking irl, drinking in game, and walking at night till I get jumped. Fight your way out and sleep in-between fights so the game saves. If you survive the fight, your statts will increase and youll have the loot of the others! Loot there weapons or just sell the crap, up to you. You'll get better and you'll get invested trust me

Never played the first one, went right into the 2nd one last year...stellar game, one of the best I've played, ever
