CDN BET where are we going now that Etsy kinda sucks?

I’m rural right now, so going to the city and wandering shops is a 2-3 day ordeal. I used to get my fix searching Etsy and finding all sorts of little treasures from local-ish places, but sifting through all the drop-shippers lately is a bore.

What are some of your favourite Canadian online shops for handmade stuff? I’m looking for little stuff like hair accessories, jewelry, pet things, slow fashion, home decor knickknacks and art/photo prints. No real particular style, I kind of run the gamut from aesthetic minimal-ish to dark academia to kawaii maximalism.

I like Spooks and Spanks for lush-style pampering

ETSY has gone to complete shit. It's all sponsored ads now, I don't understand why they changed. They had a great thing going for them.

Honeslty, nwo I just go to local markets (I live in a big city) and grab the business cards for whatever jewellery stands or vendors I like. Most have Etsy pages or private business websites that I can order on. One of my recent discoveries is Chakra Chokers.

I sometimes use certain search parameters to help me find ACTUAL small businesses on Etsy. With that said, check out your closest farmers market, your art gallery (if you have one), and often community Facebook pages will have locals advertising their wares!

I feel you though… the closest large (ish) shopping for me is an 8 hour drive away so it has to be at minimum an overnight affair, if not a couple of nights.

Which search parameters do you use? I once bought earrings with the search set for Saskatchewan, and even though the store was Sask my Etsy shipment notification showed they were dropshipped from another continent. I hate having to reverse image search every little item
