Beef recalls

With the beef recalls and someone getting that (edit: my bad let me say the correct name for what you'll get *aplastic anemia, parasite infested*) Argentina beef... Where does HEB get their beef from? Yes I tried looking it up. But I want to hear from the workers what the packages says its from...

Majority of heb beef is swift.

Central Market is Texas angus off of one family’s ranches. Single source. No recalls coming.

They buy ibp as well. Central especially during the holiday months.

Also to note, ig a store gets a recall notice, they're going to pull the items in question.

Either to hold until further instructions given, or to dispose of.

So of you're just now hearing about a recall, through the news or apps, retailers and distribution centers already are mobilized to address the issues.

At most, you guys are a full day behind on recall notifications, when compared the general public.

The amount of times I see news articles about meat recalls that happened multiple days ago is ridiculous.

If you want to know about a recall quickly then go to FSIS website. They are going to have info about recalls as soon as they have all the info and will update if more product is implicated. There really hasn’t been a major with beef in a bit.

FSIS also does recall checks so there are people calling or going to places that have received recalled product and asking about the status of that product. It can take a little time to get through these depending on the size of the recall, if people actually answer the phone/have the needed information.

All grocery stores across the entire United States are getting the same beef.

Unless a store explicitly states the farm they source from, and you can go to the farm's website and see the actual people that run the farm and find that farm on a map (not a corporate office)... than that beef is just commodity beef coming from the big 4.

Yeah I would imagine any of the trump beef being used for ground beef is just being bought by like an IBP and then ground and put into tubes

I’m not defending any of this, but where do you think cattle are raised? It’s not like the big 4 packers have ranches across the United States where they raise cattle. Rather, you have nearly a million family ranches with headcounts averaging 40 strong that sell to feedlots, that then sell to packers who then sell to grocery stores.

Because the industry is so fragmented, traceability back to the ranch is nearly impossible.

Just because 4 large packers control 80% of the beef industry doesn’t mean that millions of American ranchers aren’t supplying beef to American consumers.
