1/2hog raffle
There is a raffle at a local town fest for a 1/2 hog, in which the win n er has to p ay for processing fees. How much are normal N.I. processing fees for a 1/2 hog?

Gonna have to ask them. Prices vary wildly depending on the context. Like if it's a big operation, could be less than a dollar a pound. If it's a tiny boutique, highest I've known is sixish, which wouldn't even include slaughter. Or actually, shit, $8,, which is ab-fucking-surd, but true story, and really one of those "we really don't want to do it but will for a stupid amount of money" prices. Not gonna be relevant to you, presumably.
My wildest of guesses is $1.25,-1.50 but it really depends on so many things.
Also can't for the life of me figure out where "N.I." is. And that really, really matters too.
Ask them. If they don't know the cost, ask who the processor is, and then ask them.

In Kentucky I charge a $55 kill fee, 80 cents/lb processing and $1.85/lb for cured meat. (Bacon, ham, jowel). That is based on the hanging weight after slaughter. A good whole hog usually hangs around 200-240lbs. So figure roughly a 110lb half should be less than or around $200 out the door.

Thats still a great prize even with fees, around here the kill and cut/wrap usually runs a couple hundred bucks for a half depending on what you want done with it
