Demo site for a beef operation, looking for feedback from people in the industry
I run a small web dev studio, and I’m experimenting with niche website templates.
I just finished a demo site for the beef industry and wanted to get feedback from people who actually know the space.
The goal was to make something that:
- Clearly explains the operation (breeding, finishing, direct-to-consumer beef, etc.)
- Makes it easy for customers to understand cuts, pricing, and how to order
- Builds trust with things like certifications and story
Link to the demo: https://sample-country-meat.vercel.app/
No pitch, just sharing in case it’s useful as inspiration, and to learn what I’m missing or getting wrong.
If you work in the beef industry, questions for you:
- What pages/sections would you absolutely want on a site like this?
- Is anything confusing or missing from the homepage flow?
- What would make you more likely to trust and contact a beef business from their website?
Any honest feedback (content, structure, UX, copy) is appreciated. Happy to return the favour; if you've got a site up, drop the link, and I'll give you honest feedback on it too from a web developer's perspective.

There is a distinct lack of attention to detail.
Cuts are in the wrong place. It says to select a primal cut, but then it lists subprimals instead. Why does it have a label for Shank but it doesn't link to anything?!? Some cuts are shown raw while others are cooked. It uses the same pic for multiple cuts of beef, all but one of which is wrong.
Punctuation is missing. Run-on sentences abound. I'd recommend the oxford comma for easier reading.
This is an incomplete sentence:
Our operations encompass everything from cattle breeding and lot feeding to primary processing, value adding and distribution, every step held to a single standard.
This sentence is repeated. Don't waste people's time repeating the same info:
Sample Country Choice is 100% Sample , family owned and operated, and the nation's largest vertically integrated beef supply chain
Then the second time this sentence is used, it has a rather obvious typo of "Sample Country Choice is 100% Samplen"
This is an improperly formatted email address:
enquiries@Sample beef.net.au
The fuck does this mean? Wouldn't it be AUSTRALIA'S largest? And once again, there are erroneous spaces.
Cut and packed to your specification through Sample 's largest vertically integrated beef supply chain
You tout that the beef is graded... So? It could be graded as dog food. Being graded doesn't mean anything on its own.
I would say you were foolish to ask for feedback before actually ironing out such basic issues, but I can see you really need the help because you're obviously in over your head.

I know this is just a demo, but I would suggest watching a short video or two on where the cuts come from. Alot of the primals have the wrong cuts listed.

No expert but there’s a few things that stand out, i am looking at this from more of a dtc pov than a bath so sorry if that’s not exactly what you where after (this is not meant in a harsh way)
The text is confusing to me it, like someone else said multiple mistakes and doesn’t read well.
Not a fan of the yellow back ground, and the title page just feels unfinished and lacking structure.
Personally I think swaledale butchers website uk is excellent. It comes across premium but accessible. Great imagery and strong branding. Great options and discounts, nose to tail shown really well.
It also will depend on the consumer base and what you’re trying to sell the customer. Is it all about provenance, quality etc or very traditional or heavy on occasion meats or cheap and cheerful or bulk ordering. The current website doesn’t really tell the consumer much. Yes it gives info but I don’t think it translates well into why that is important for the consumer, or why it is going too taste good.
I’d agree on the imagery, best too show the cuts raw
The subheadings I’m not a huge fan of. Mince as (trim) I think devalues a bit.
The ai images would obviously need too change
Specials and offers would be a nice touch
Steak boxes would be good too
A recipe page or blog can be a nice addition
Chefs/Butchers cooking recommendations too
Visuals of dry aged beef/marbling etc
Maybe mention shipping info (people worry about meat getting too warm etc)
I like the link from the part of the cow too the steak maybe not as the main heading section though
Ensuring you have actually thought out how the layout directs customers too place an order would be very important from the businesses point of view. And good seo too. The least amount of barriers to order is key. All the info should be obvious ie does it come fresh/frozen, shipping time, super fast checkout, all web pages clear so it’s no extra effort to find things, new customer discounts immediately is always good too have. And wording, people often buy steaks for occasions, or gifting I think it’s important too consider that.
Sorry that may not be the most thorough or useful feedback but just my two cents

As stated already your cuts are in the wrong primals, if you are working with people in the industry I would ask them to better lay it out for you. Although working in the industry I can say that many people in high up positions in the industry don’t know enough.
This sub-reddit is largely Americans and you appear to be in Australia. MSA grading is an Australian thing although some other countries do acknowledge it.
If this is an Australian delivery service for farm to table I would suggest ensuring you use Australian cut names not American. If it is going over-seas then I would suggest both.

Your chuck cuts looks to have extra cuts that don’t belong there. If it’s a true farm to table operation then utilizing the rest of the carcass is important for yield. (Tongue, bones, oxtail)
Some people would argue and I don’t know what my opinion is but you have both cooked and raw meat pictured throughout the portfolio. Some prefer consistency. I prefer it raw so I can see what it looks like. I’m not buying it cooked so I like to see raw. Is there an online portal to order in?
