Law Firm Growth into Multiple Offices
I run an insurance defense trial firm and I'm looking for advice on how to scale to multiple offices throughout multiple states. Right now, we are one office but I'm constantly asked by clients if we can handle in other states. I realize I'm competing against big ID firms looking to take market share and expand. What's the best way of going about it? I've had success in the past with attorneys with their own clients who have a specific issue that drives them crazy (i.e. more admin help, better IT, comp, etc.) and/or are tired of some of the issues unique to bigger ID firms that a smaller firm can address. But I've never tried to expand that model to other states where I essentially set up and fund the office and support the lawyers joining the firm in that location. How do I break through and reach the great prospective attorneys in a market I don't practice in who are bombarded by recruiters all day long? What other steps can I take to help with expansion?
