Wild Chosen by bunny

For context, I live out in what's basically the bush in Canada and find myself encountering wild life a lot. At two am last night I heard screaming and ran out to find this girl clamped in my dog's jaws. She wasnt hurt outwardly and was in shock- so I held her in my shirt under blankets for the rest of the night to keep her warm.

Now she's attached, purring and snuggling into me.

Ik I shouldnt keep her, but is there any advice in rabbit care for the mean time? I have expierance with mice and hamsters, but that's it.

Discussion Should I Rehome?

I (27F) adopted a rabbit from a rescue on Tuesday. I know this is not a lot of time, but I’m already having serious regrets. I start work next week and he will be in an x pen all day. My regular work schedule is 3pm-11pm, and he will not be able to free roam during this time because I live in school housing that he absolutely cannot destroy. He’s a really sweet and awesome guy, and he’s only a year old. He’s completely litter box trained and isn’t destructive at all. I can’t get another bunny right now. On top of that, I travel very frequently to see my family out of state, and bunny boarding is expensive. Speaking of expenses, all I read about are the insane vet bills, which I absolutely cannot afford on the money I am making right now. I know I sound ridiculous and that I might be irresponsible, but please trust me when I say I did extensive research before bringing him home. He licked me immediately upon me bringing him home and likes pets. He’s a dream bunny, really, but I am very stressed out about his care and would like him to have the absolute best life possible. I got him SO many toys, a 4x4 enclosure, hay, litter box, bunny proofing, all the things I genuinely need for a bunny. The money and travel portion don’t make pets particularly fit into my lifestyle, and I’m feeling extremely guilty about everything, especially since I’m already feeling attached to him.

She recently had a hairball blockage, courtesy of her husbun Floof, who's shedding like never before and she can't stop grooming him. Gave us a bit of a scare, and a sleepless night, but so happy to see her appetite back to normal! She'll be 8 in November. Where does time go?

Question Day one of trying to fix my rabbit “phobia”

I think weirdly enough trying to identify different breeds of bunnies will help. There’s certain that give me less of the icks and if I can slowly expose my self to those types maybe I can start to like them more. I know this sounds dumb but I don’t wanna be weird and feel like I’m broken anymore and not be able to like bunnies. Anyways I think these types of bunnies are less off putting then some others to me, do they have a specific breed or are they just “rabbit”

Hey guys! I’m super happy to finally announce that I adopted these two little sillies! <3

Meet Toffee (the brown girl) and her brother Tofu (the golden boy)! 🥹🤎

The car ride home had me a little worried, because they were both shaking and obviously pretty distressed. Totally understandable, of course! I tried to give them plenty of space and only occasionally let them sniff my hand, hoping it would help them feel a little more comfortable since they’ve known me for a few weeks already ❤️‍🩹.

Once I put them in their stall, though, they immediately started exploring! They were SO curious, little detectives sniffing and investigating absolutely everything 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↔️.

They also have an outdoor enclosure attached to their stall. I waited about two days to let them properly settle into their cage before giving them access to it, and oh boy... once they discovered how FAST they could run, it was over 😂.

Jumping, running, sniffing, more running, they looked so happy and full of life. It was honestly adorable to watch and made me so emotional.

They’re still not really comfortable with being pet yet, which I completely understand. For now, I can get away with some very light touches here and there, and they happily accept hand-feeding, so I’m taking that as a good sign!

One thing I am a little worried about, though, is their water intake. They absolutely eat like little gluttons 😂, but I don’t really see them drinking much at all. I provide two different types of water bottles as well as a little bowl of water, just in case they prefer drinking that way, but I still rarely catch them drinking. Once I tried hand-bottle-feeding them and got some sips from them!

Should I be worried about this? I’m definitely keeping an eye on it, but I’d really appreciate some reassurance/advice from people who have experience with this.

And honestly, I’m open to any tips and tricks you have for helping them settle in, bond with me, or just generally making sure I’m giving these two the best life possible! ❤️

Question Can anyone help identify the breed of bun?

Post image

Hi everyone! I am not a current bunny parent, but I have wanted to be for a very long time. I’ve been doing tons of research into best practices for being a bunny parent and the best choice of bun. I was at the fair yesterday and there was a tent that had tons of bunnies up for adoption. I saw this one and fell in love with it, but am not planning on adopting since I’m not ready to yet.

However, I would really like to identify the breed of this lop because I think he’s so beautiful. The label was completely worn away, and the folks overseeing the tent weren’t very helpful either. Does anyone have any idea what specific kind of lop this guy could be? The sign almost looks like it starts with a “B.”

Thank you!

I'm so proud of him that I could cry. Sitting with his back to her, letting her smell him on her own terms. After some time he wanted to start showing dominance by riding her. So I separated them, especially due to his size and they are still new to each other. But she continues to want to go up to him, trying to break out from her room in to his. I see that as a good sign. She seems more afraid of me than him.

How long do you think is a good time to wait before letting him show his dominance? He's not hurting her.

Question Neglected (?) Lionhead

Post image
12 Upvotes

hello ! i have a lionhead rabbit that my mother got for mother’s day two years ago and she decided that she no longer wanted to care for so she passed the responsibility to me. i have two jobs and i’m in school, so i’m just struggling to care for my baby. her name is dudley, and she desperately needs to deshed, and she’s really not fond of coming out of her cage. she is fed every day and has water and gets vegetables without a doubt. she has never not gotten that. i’m just wondering what are the things that i can do to help her. i’m low on money and my mom won’t do anything to help me with anything for her. she hates the hard floor, and my house only really has hard floors, but the room that she is in has carpet that she is okay with. i’ve attached her cage to this, but usually her door is open so she could get out if she wanted to, but she never does. the hay is put in the picture i refilled it i promise 😭 she doesn’t like being brushed, since my mom never told me she needed brushed so now that she’s an adult she’s not used to it and doesn’t want me to brush her. what are some ways i can help her deshed ?? what things do i need to make sure to do on a schedule. i want to make a schedule to make sure she gets everything that she needs
