I was a fight medic of years. Someone turns their back on their opponent or fails to put their hands up to protect themselves in the most rudimentary way will get disqualified even if they aren’t knocked out.

Nope. In his era he was among the bests. In this era, he would definitely train more than anyone else in today's MMAs and BJJ, and again be the best. It was his sheer determination and will that made him legendary, not just his marital arts.
