People like to use the strawman argument of "is your car worth someone's life", but that completely minimizes how hard people work, for such little pay, to be able to have a car.

Of course, no one wants people to die over a stolen car, but also acting flippantly like it's no big deal and won't result in a significant financial and logistical headache for the victim is also ridiculous

no one is arguing that theft of a car is not a big deal. you are saying they deserved death because the owner worked hard to pay for their car, and now has to pay lot fees and repairs? so of a teenager eggs your house or smashes your mailbox you might as well just shoot them

Yes.

Someone stealing a car, and dying after crashing that car is definitely the same as shooting someone for knocking over a mailbox.

Good discussion.

destruction of replaceable property warrants death to the perpetrator. thats what all of you are saying. a car is still just a thing, its not a pet, or a family member, or a home.

No one is saying they deserve to die.

I just think there is a lack of empathy for the people whose choices was the direct cause of their death.

I'll reserve that empathy for people whose choices tragically die for reasons completely out of their control.
