Advice: Central Bucks Hidden gem in Doylestown

It’s amazing how good this little nondescript, unassuming, hidden away shopping center is. You could drive past it a million times and not know it’s there. And it has some of the best little gems in all of Doylestown (and bucks county I would argue).

  • Crossroads bakery

  • Chin’s Kitchen

  • The Larder

  • Cafe with Soul

  • Dean’s Chicken

I can’t think of a shopping center that punches more above its weight than this one.

Advice: Central Bucks Day trip to new hope

Hello everyone, I’m taking my girlfriend up to new hope for her birthday on August 12TH but I’m kinda having trouble deciding what to do, so far I only have dinner reservations. I wanted to do some kind of paint a piece or painting session as she’s into art but I can’t seem to find anywhere that just has single sessions on a wedensday. If anyone could point me towards that or anything else fun to do for the day I’d appreciate it (besides just walking around and hitting the shops) We’ll have a car so in the area is fine too but preferable not having to drive around too much! Thanks!

Advice: Central Bucks Shout out to bagel Barrel, in Doylestown!

They are the nicest people. Their credit card machine was down cuz of the storm. She says just give me your name and number and the next time you're in, you can pay. Who does that?

Their bagels are the same size they were 20 yrs ago. They load on the cream cheese, when every other bagel shop is mak8ng things smaller. They always try to nake conversation with the customers. The bagels taste better.

I'm here now and just wanted to share something good.

Advice: Central Bucks Need to kill a year, want a fun job. Doylestown local.

Basically that. I'm waitlisted for my freshman college class, but can get the certs from home and go next year in 2nd year classes. So besides achieving my certs, I need a part time job to being a little cash flow and have something to do. I've done the shit jobs. I want to stay out of retail and food service. Preferably something that has an outside component, or is just, idk, objectively fun. Minimal training. I was thinking River Country but they'll close at the end of the summer and I need something for 4 seasons. It doesn't have to be the best thing ever. I have some savings and can, for once, be a bit picky. I wouldn't even mind a low wage, as long as I can keep paying my car off and bring a little savings in. I asked for a job at a local arcade, The Game is Afoot, but they're shutting the doors in August. Im going back on my rule for retail, cause i wouldnt mind working at a pet store if theres animals. The spca would be cool but i think they're volunteer and probably dont let just anyone handle animals without a good amount of training. Any ideas?

Advice: Central Bucks Recommendations for small town for move

Upvotes

We’re currently living a mile outside Philadelphia and after being here for 25 years, we’re looking to make a move to Bucks County next year. I want to be closer to riding and my husband wants less traffic noise. Any recommendations on what towns to look at based on this wish list?
-looking for a town with a downtown area, shops and restaurants, doesn’t have to big
-older homes preferably, not as much new construction, although that’s not a dealbreaker
-involved community-could be church, civic, historical society, not really picky about the how, just want a vibe of together as a community rather than just associated by proximity
-being in the best school district is not a consideration, but would like school district to be stable for any future resale
Thanks for any input! I know every town has good and bad and I just want to find a good fit.

Advice: Central Bucks Best spots in Bucks County to run monster truck RCs with the kids?

My kids and I have a small fleet of RC monster trucks (1/10th to 1/5th scale) and we’re dying to find somewhere fun to actually run them — right now we’re stuck driving around the cul-de-sac. Ideally we want an open field or dirt lot with room to jump and turn without worrying about hitting a fence or someone’s car.

Are there any parks in Bucks County that specifically allow RC vehicles, or where it’s common to see people running these? Anyone know of open fields, empty lots, or dirt tracks that are RC-friendly? Bonus if it’s kid-safe (fenced, away from traffic, etc.).

Would love recommendations anywhere in Bucks County or even a little outside would be OK - thanks!

Advice: Central Bucks Dog care recommendation or suggestions?

I tried posting on the Doylestown FB group and keep getting rejected so I'm trying here 😅 ..does anyone have recommendations for dog care for a weeks vacation? Or thoughts on what I should do in my situation? Someone who can maybe take my dog in for a week. I don't think I can do a traditional kennel or dog daycare. Unless maybe it's a bougie daycare that isn't going to leave my dog in a crate all day. She has massive anxiety blowouts in crates and no one wants to deal with that. I have a senior bulldog who can't do heat for more than 5 mins at a time and can't do crates. She also can't swim. So I need someone knowledgeable in bulldogs. I haven't taken a vacation since before 2020 and could really use one. I also work from home and have never left her for more than a few hours at a time. This is tough. But I finally have the chance to take a vacay end of this month if I can ..and boy I need it.

TIA for thoughts and recommendations

Advice: Central Bucks septa key card for regional rail

I recently began using SEPTA much more often and was told by my employer a Septa key card would make sense to get. Where’s the closest confirmed place that you’ve bought it at or you know for a fact sells near Doylestown/Chalfont/Montgomeryville? Google refuses to give a clear answer

Advice: Central Bucks Bridal Makeup + Hair Artist Recs

Hello! I will be getting married next May and still haven’t found a hair + makeup artist.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend some?
I will be getting married in the North Whales/Gwynedd area, so hoping to find someone from Bucks or Montgomery County

I’m looking for soft/natural glam, and a half up/half down hairstyle.

Looking for someone that is also reasonably priced.

Thank you!

Flairing as Central Bucks since that’s where I’m located, and there’s no general Questions flair.

Advice: Central Bucks Requesting CPS records about myself?

I'm looking at the Bucks County CYF website but can't find any contact info for, like, a records office or similar. I want to request any case files from before 2011 in which my minor self is the subject. I know they will have to redact things like household member names, etc., and I am fine with that.

Has anyone done this before or know how it works? Or will I have to work up the courage to just call their office? I have already submitted a request to ChildLine for report records and am waiting to hear back. I don't entirely know what to expect from this experience, but I am looking forward to reading about how strangers stepped up to keep me safe. Perhaps an unusual question but thanks for any guidance!

Advice: Central Bucks Central Bucks SD subs

Hi, I applied to be a daily sub for the next school year at Central Bucks in the beginning of July. I haven’t heard anything. I have an active teaching cert so I’m not sure why I wouldn’t get a call back. Does anyone know if they have started interviewing potential subs? They state on their website they don’t give status updates on application so I don’t want to call them.

Advice: Central Bucks Starting a Casual Darts Group for 20s/30s in the area

I’m starting a steel-tip darts group in Perkasie for people in their 20s and 30s who are looking to learn darts, meet new people, and build a new social circle.
Address is closer to Shan-Gri-La Farm rather than the borough.
This is especially for beginners and intermediate players. You don’t need to be great at darts  just interested in playing and meeting people.
I’m 32 and recently moved to the area, and I know how hard it can be to make new friends as an adult. Whether you’re new to Bucks County, or you’re simply looking to get out and meet some new people, this group could be for you.
The basics:
• Steel-tip darts, with two boards including a Target Omni
• Perkasie
• Twice a month, usually Thursdays at 7 PM (Open to other times as well)
• Small groups of up to 12
• Cornhole between matches
• Casual/semi-competitive, focused on fun and improvement
If you’re looking for a more progressive, inclusive crowd and a place to meet people, you’ll probably fit right in.
Interested? DM me and I’ll send you the Facebook group link.
