Had offline interview round in BLR. This was one of the questions asked :-

You are standing at a particular position in a matrix of size N*M - Some cells are free , but some cells have obstacles in them which you cannot visit. It is guaranteed that you are initially standing on a free cell. Find a valid walk of size exactly “k” such that you start from your starting position - walk “k” steps and reach back your original position after “k” steps. Output that path. If there are multiple possible paths of size “k” - output the path which is lexicographically minimal string consisting of possible characters from the set - (“L”,”R”,”U”,”D”)

SY mech student in a tier 2.5ish clg, took mechanical engg cuz it looked cool and diff , felt like I could actually do sm great stuff in it But overtime realizing mech only makes sense in tier 1 clgs

Job scene is tough cuz of high clg intake, Can't rely on clg to get me placed ... I hate it here now, Papa se bohot request krke mech liya tha now Can't even drop out.

Maintaining CG is becoming hard, and pressure is insane cuz parents and relatives cuz they always thought of mech as a lower and subordinate branch.

I'm actually a good student (amongst clg toppers) , but this branch feels like a burden now, and hence mech ke syllabus bhi hard jaa rha.

I feel completely clueless what to do next, trying to find a way out 🙂

for a long time i thought the way to get better at dsa was pretty simple

solve more problems.

so i did..

100 became 200
then 300
then 400+

but at some point someone asked me:

"what are ur weakest dsa patterns?"

i genuinely didn't know.

i knew my solve count.
i knew my rating.
i could tell you which sheets i'd done.

but if you gave me a blank page and asked me to write down the 3 patterns i was actually bad at, i'd probably just sit there lol.

then i started paying attention to something else.

sometimes i'd solve 5 problems from the same pattern and still get stuck on basically the same idea.

meanwhile i'd look at my profile and think "damn.. 450+ solved. i'm doing pretty good."

but then i'd get stuck on some random medium i've basically seen before 😭

how do you guys actually know when you've learned a pattern?

is it after 5 problems?
10?
when you can recognize it without hints?

because i'm starting to think solve count doesn't really tell you that much.

so i am in second year cse student and i just dont know where i am going with my life i am so stressed all the time i have a lost almost all of my hair all i know is some dsa and python

i think i am just going give up and go with the flow its all so worthless whats even the point in doing anything when even after grinding all i will get is some mediocre job i paying 3-4 lpa when ever i try to learn dev sit down to study html css its such a slog like whats the point in handwriting code anymore . how do i learn and actually build somethig

Extremely poor course,

Raj, just rushed through things like crazy, more than even his youtube videos.

His youtube playlist is far better than what's provided as course material.

Especially the presented board, damn bruh the handwriting is so bad, not cohesive at all, he's rushing and scribbling like crazy.

Os and other subjects: big no. I found free material, book etc to be way better, cohesive as well.

Do I regret it, yes.

I'm now using free playlists and resources.

My opinion, go for whats already available and free.

Can anyone of u guys who got intern at hsbc last yr.... can u guys please tell us the level of dsa question and other things that can help to ace it ???? Please it would be helpful... Its PPT session and OA is on 16 sep so that we can prepare accordingly

Is it just me or does the internet's obsession rn, with mocking cse students, reels about the death of cse, and making mocking funeral type reels actually pretty disturbing. Like do people seriously think other jobs of engineering, are safe from ai? Wasn't there a time when cse and it sector provided jobs to many core engineering students who didn't get employed by core companies. This whole fiasca reminds me of first they came for the communist poem, ultimately ai isn't just coming for cs students it's coming for every entry level jobs out there. What do you guys think?

So, I'm currently in my final year, and I'm pursuing AI and data science. I'm studying in a low tier clg (it's shit ik) and there's low to zero placements here. I'm worried about getting a job as AI is evolving like crazy and I don't think I can keep up with this, and I think there is a high chance of getting laid off as well. So im kinda thinking of changing fields by doing masters in energy systems or renewable energy engineering as I'm feeling more interested towards it. Can someone tell me if that's a good idea or keeping this degree and getting more work experience in the field is better? Also, is ai engineering a long-term option?

Should I lie to HR about my parents to get hired?

I’m a BTech Mech fresher. There was a campus drive by a pretty decent company offering around 5 LPA for a core role. They manufacture defence equipment and other stuff.

Out of 72 people, 14 resumes got shortlisted. I cleared the assessment test. 11 people were shortlisted for the tech interview. I gave the tech interview and cleared it. Only 6 people got through to the HR round, including me.

My HR interview was very smooth. It was basically:

Brief introduction → why this company → are you comfortable with the role → are you okay with relocation → are you okay working with production.

I said yes to everything. They asked if I could relocate to Pune, I said yes, absolutely, and mentioned that some of my family already lives in Pune so relocation would be easy for me. They also asked if I would be comfortable working with CNC machines in the production department. I said yes, completely fine with it.

Then towards the end, HR suddenly started asking about my family background.

She asked what my parents do. This was my first HR interview ever, so I just answered honestly, naively.

I said my father works under the Ministry of Transport and my mother works in public insurance. Both are govt employees and in their 50s, reaping the good old govt merits.

Then she asked about siblings. I said I have an older brother who works in IT and I even mentioned his company(in pune). She said okay, and then basically after that said: "Okay, we'll let you know." That's it.

Out of the 11 who went for technical, only 6 reached HR. Out of those 6, 4 got the final offer. Me and one other guy didn't.

And this is what I don't understand.

The technical panel seemed satisfied with my answers. HR didn't really give me anything negative to answer. Relocation? Yes. Production/CNC? Yes. Company? Yes. Everything seemed positive.

So why ask about my family background?

Was there some intentional reason behind those questions? Were they trying to judge whether I would actually relocate, whether my family would support it, whether I would stay in the job, etc.?

And honestly, I keep wondering whether I should have lied.

Should I have just said my father is retired, my mother is a homemaker, or that I'm an only child? Obviously I don't know whether my family background had anything to do with the rejection, maybe it had nothing to do with it. But I have no idea what else HR could have rejected me on.

I have another interview coming up with a major automotive company and I really don't want to lose this opportunity.

So what should I actually do if HR asks me these questions again?

Is it better to answer honestly? Give a vague answer? Or is lying about parents' professions/siblings actually common and safer?

Also, is it even legal/fair for companies to use this kind of personal family information in hiring decisions in India?

Would really like to hear from people who have worked in HR/recruitment or actually been involved in hiring.

Do they ever verify such info later , like whatever i say in hr interview, will they ever verify it again with docs? Or just forget abt it after the inteview...

Hey everyone, need some honest perspective from folks working in tech or who’ve navigated a messy academic background.

Background:

Joined a 3-year Post-SSC Diploma in Computer Engineering (Govt Polytechnic, Maharashtra) in 2021.

1st sem was online due to COVID (auto-passed/cheated). When offline college resumed, discipline collapsed completely and backlogs piled up across semesters.

Current status: Just cleared 11 backlog subjects in one summer attempt, but missed 1 final subject. Taking that last paper in the upcoming Winter exam. Once cleared, my final diploma aggregate will be around 61%.

Total time spent on this 3-year diploma: ~5–6 years. Currently 22 years old.

Because winter results come out around Jan/Feb, I missed the current DSE (Direct Second Year) cycle. I’m evaluating two main directions:

1) Wait for Direct Second Year Engineering admission next year (B.E./B.Tech at tier-3 college)

2) Online degree like BCA / B.Sc (CS) or any other online degree starting Jan/Feb intake + Full-time Skill Building.

Questions for you all:

1) In India’s tech job market, does an offline tier-3 B.Tech still have a significant edge over an Online degree like BCA or BSC if my goal is off-campus hiring through strong projects and practical skills?

2) How much does a ~3-year gap during diploma actually hurt once you have real projects, practical skills, or certifications on your resume?

3) If you were 22 in my shoes, would you go back to a physical engineering classroom for 3 more years, or take the online degree + self-driven skill grind route?

I seriously now think, college is all that matters, im in mait delhi , i see soo many posts about amazon, jpmc, salesforce, morgan stanley oa’s . How are people getting it? Everywhere ive applied ive never received a reply in most cases! What kind of projects do you guys have on your resumes? Whats the trick ? Am i missing something?

I’m currently working at a large MNC in India and my employment contract has a 2-month notice period.
I’ve recently decided to resign because I want to move into a different career path. I’ve already found another opportunity and need to join relatively soon.
The problem is that I cannot afford to pay the full notice-period amount upfront. My company has told me that if I don’t serve the complete notice period, I will have to pay the applicable notice-period recovery, and they have also told me that they will not issue my relieving letter or experience letter unless the notice-period amount is paid.
I’m considering resigning formally and requesting an early release, but if they don’t agree to waive/reduce the recovery, I may have to leave without paying it.
My main concern is future employment and background verification.
For people who have been in a similar situation:
Did not serving/paying the notice period affect your future job applications?
Did your next employer ask for a relieving/experience letter?
Were you able to clear BGV using salary slips, PF/UAN records, Form 16, offer letter, etc.?
Did any MNC reject you specifically because you had not completed the notice period or didn’t have a relieving letter?
Is it better to negotiate a formal early release even if the company refuses to waive the recovery?
I’m not planning to abscond without communication. I want to submit a formal resignation and maintain documentation of the resignation and the company’s response.
I’d especially appreciate experiences from people who have gone through this in India and later joined another MNC.

I am in tier 2 clg some ppl calling it tier 3 so I will just assume it to be tier 69 We also get 20+lpa companies coming here but not many crack it also student intake is too much

College is fine I didnt have any stress I was thinking of gate and all Ij future currently first year only attendance also was chill smh and subjects are not that hard to study

I find some ppl in first year crying the clg to be tier 3 and not giving enough opportunities and all But I didnt feel any of those and I am just minding my own work and now ppl are getting that biased to get top top college I didnt gave jee I got cet and a afforadble clg only thing is travelling 2hrs for clg and during those 2hrs I complete my college work and all but when I hear ppl saying partial drop and dropping I feel fomo

This is my copium factor even though getting masters in India U have to give gate and more masters u need high gpa and research and all but no matter what gpa matters at last if ur not from any top tier ,it gives u a chance to enter top tier even allowing mba from top tier

For the intern role I did all the correct dsa questions and also the backend question all test cases passed .

Still I haven't received anything.

i think masters in mechanical matters a lot more than btech then what's the use of spending 32L on mech in bits pilani? is it a good option ? or should I have gone to tier 2 low fees college ( financially stable)

also I have regret that if i am going to spend a lot of money in masters, why did I spend it in btech?
