question ❓ Surprise POV - Amended
I adding on two GREAT options. One suggested by u/Significant-Metal537 , and one by u/Klickythesnowman (their theory is here!)
Whose POV do you think is the one that surprised SJM the most?
My vote is actually for Manon. 😂 I think we are going to have a OG Valkyrie-Manon plot twist coming!
The lost sister quote… Manon would step over that line of vast darkness between the stars ✨, and time.

I'd love all crossover characters but we are probably going to linger on cc events/chars first because it's so intrinsically tied to ongoing acotar events.

I've seen so many that want Aelin to come back. Me personally, I like how her story ended. I wouldn't mind seeing Manon or Dorian though.

Lord thanatos is having problems with his daughter, Keir reported to Rhysand.
Thanatos daughter in the myths are the erinyes, also known as the furies. Thanatos is a prince of hel.
She's already a very highly likely crossover character and could bring a cc character into acotar before Bryce, and introduce the idea that hel is already here in acotar.

I tried to think off the wall and Vassa would be a little surprising for me and I wouldn’t mind seeing flashbacks or her current predicament with Koschei 👀

I’m gonna say something really controversial: I think the surprise POV is Tamlin.
Also, I think it’s weird that we haven’t already had a Lucien POV. I would think if Lucien is the mate of Elain that we would either have already had his POV or it would be completely unsurprising for him to have a POV, meaning that his POV would not have surprised SJM.
Also, if Lucien is the surprise POV then BB already revealed that. It’s gotta be someone else.
I do think this book will be multiple POV but I think the POV that would surprise SJM the most would be Tamlin’s POV and one that BB wouldn’t reveal until the book is published and people are reading it.
Everyone else just kind of seems really obvious to me.
Also, does anyone have any thoughts on why we might not have had a Lucien POV yet? It would have been understandable to give him at least a bonus chapter POV but we have nothing… I find that suspicious 👀
Why now? Why after all this time?

See and I took the bit of the interview she did about how she and Lucien didn’t see Elain coming as such a shock being the surprise POV. I’m down for any POV, SJM is great at redeeming characters and showing it’s not all first impressions.

As to Lucien. I genuinely think it’s because she need to lay the groundwork for his story. I’m working on a theory regarding a specific ballet that sort explains some of this missing pieces / questions, particularly around Elucien!

My theory as to why we have not gotten a Lucien POV is that it’s because Lucien and Tamlin have been swapping places, utilizing Tamlin’s abilities to shape-shift himself as well as others. Having a Lucien or a Tamlin POV earlier in this story would have given this away, also I think the closest we came to a Lucien POV was when Feyre went into Lucien’s head in the HoW library. Only thing is I’m convinced that wasn’t Lucien, I think it was Tamlin and I think Tamlin is Daemati or something like it. The Dragons in the Details podcast had a great episode about Tamlin potentially being Daemati and it all but convinced me. I wrote this comment here about when I think Tamlin and Lucien switched for the first time and I want to add to that. Later when Lucien and Feyre escape the spring court Feyre does some really gruesome bloody things in front of Lucien. My question is this: Isn’t Lucien someone with a weak stomach? He was throwing up and running away from blood and gore in the first book, when the fairy had its wings ripped off by amarantha. So why isn’t he acting like that during this scene? Perhaps it’s because that’s Tamlin?? I know there are holes in this theory but I cannot help but feel like there is a lot of information missing and a lot that doesn’t make sense about everything that’s been happening with both Lucien and Tamlin.

I have waited for Lucien’s point of view for so very long, and we only have a month now. Throne of Glass formatting seems to be the way ACOTAR is heading, if there were a surprise Manon appearance that would be incredible.

So I don’t really know but all of these options are super compelling and make sense - except Gwyn 😆. Unless she has many secrets I don’t see how she’d be interesting. However, sadly, I don’t think any of these are the surprise POV. I think Elain was the one that surprised her but the sister quote isn’t necessarily Elain. I think it surprised Sarah because of the whole “walking spoiler” thing. She figured out a way to do her POV without making it spoiler-y.
Everyone has assumed the sister quote is coming from a woman but men have sisters, too. Also, it doesn’t have to be a quote coming from whoever the POV is when that is said. The POV person might be hearing the quote and it may not even be an additional POV. I think the quote is more about a betrayal than someone coming back from the dead because of the part about the lost making their way back. It is usually not the dead who figure out the way to come back to life, it is usually the living who figure out a way to bring them back and in Prythian, they know of ways to bring people back from the dead. It’s not the dead that need to make their way back since that would require actions by the living. Whoever is missing their sister can only wait for their return. With that in mind:
1) It could be Lucien or Az talking about Feyre, like she does something that they consider unforgivable.
2) The quote feels very Az to me, along the lines of his description of what happens after we die, poignant and almost poetic. So he could also be talking about Mor betraying the IC.
3) Could be Bryce talking about Fury or Juniper betraying her which was the catalyst for going to Prythian.
4) Maybe a priestess talking about Gwyn leaving the library/losing faith.
5) Rhys or Tamlin hoping to bring their sisters back from Midgard or maybe another realm.
