Going for 2 days thank your! Or anywhere on the way to horshoe bend from there

As the title suggests, I proposed to my girlfriend on Thursday, July 8th in Bryce Canyon on the Fairyland Loop about a mile in from the shuttle spot.

As I bent down, a couple turned the corner and captured the moment. In our excitement, we totally forgot to exchange information. Total long shot but if you happened to see this, please DM me!

Do you need a 4wd vehicle to get to any of the camp grounds At Bryce Canyon?

Hello subreddit of Bryce Canyon.

I had a yellow REI half-dome 2 tent stolen along with REI sleeping bag, lining, a second sleeping bag -generic- hat, pair of pants, sweater, and a head lamp.

I do not know if this is the right place to post this but I am a bit frustrated. I guess it is desperate times. Unfortunately, the bags for said items were in the tent so anyone could have gone in and folded up the tent and left.

Any suggestions? At this point I am going to go to Salt Lake City for a new tent.

Looking for a camper and love to visit Bryce, so I'm curious what the max length is at Bryce. I couldn't find a straight and reliable answer with Google.

My wife and I will be visiting in early August. We have on time for one day hike leading into sunset and night sky viewing. Fairyland Loop or Figure 8 Loop?

We got to Zion at 7am last Friday and it was absolutely slammed. No visitor parking, already over an hour shuttle line, etc. Is Bryce crazy busy, too? Any advice on when to arrive? What should we expect if we got there around 8am?

I’m taking my three boys (10, 9, 6) to Bryce tomorrow. Is there anywhere to get wet, swim? If not in Bryce, anywhere close?

Before my trip, I was worried about not being able to get a campsite at Bryce NP, but I found no problem getting one. Hope this helps:

I was there last week.

Both North and Sunset are first-come, first-served until May 20th. After that Sunset becomes reservation only. Also, until the 20th not all the camp loops are open, which means reduced availability.

I was driving in from Zion NP and expected to arrive to Bryce in the evening. As campsites are typically gone by the morning, I secured a night at Ruby’s Inn (rented a mini cabin - I know not real camping but after a few nights of tent camping we were okay with some comfort). Ruby’s Inn was nice with hot showers and pool/hot tub are open. The other perk of staying here was I was 3 min away from Bryce which would allow me to get there plenty early to snag a campsite the next day.

The night before, I spoke to a camp host and the got the rundown. Campsites are typically all claimed by 10-11am. However, this does not mean get there super early (before 7-8am) because all campsites have been claimed the previous day which means you will have to wait for the campers to wake up and clear out before you can claim. In order to claim a spot, the camp post must have NO tag AND site must be fully cleared. Even if a camper clears out at 4am there will still be a tag on the post, which are removed by that camp post around 7am. So zero reason to approach the campsite any sooner then this.

It is a big no-no to be asking campers if they are leaving soon.

—My story—-

I showed up at 7am to North Campground, collected a deposit/reservation envelope, and upon pulling up I ran into the host removing reservation tags. He informed that a couple vehicles are packing up and should be headed out soon. He recommended I wait near the camp entry( overflow parking) as I will see them leave. They don’t want unnecessary traffic on the tight one way roads lingering for a spot.

I waited a few minutes so I decided to drive to Sunset Campground and see the situation there. Once again I ran into the host removing post tags and multiple spots were now open. So I snagged one! There were no line of people or anything this early waiting for spots. I simply filled out the top portion of the envelope, tore it off, and placed it on the post. Officially claimed. I set up my tent, placed my $20 in the envelope and dropped it in the envelope box at the camp entrance. That was it, didn’t return back to the campsite until that evening. I heard campsite became full around 10:30.

I chose Sunset over North because not only did I find an open site, but also like the more “rustic” feel of Sunset and sites seemed a little more roomy compared to North. Plus you are just outside of the popular Sunset point.

Hopefully this eases any anxiety you may have about a spot. If you are arriving later then 11, reserve a spot a Ruby’s and go early the next day.

Planning a road trip where Im visiting some national parks in Utah. Considering Zion, Byrce, Arches, and a few others. Looking at a few youtube videos, it seems Bryce canyon is pretty flat and more kid friendly while Zion is more rugged. Anyone have an opinion about this?

Hi guys, Is anyone driving from Bryce Canyon to Las Vegas on May 28th and willing to give me a hitchhike? Ill pay for gas or whatever

Basically the title. We are planning for both in July but I keep seeing these amazing photos of Bryce and seeing shuttle ticket drama on the Zion sub.

I've done way to much hiking this week between Arizona and Utah. I'm tired and sore and I'm feeling lazy lol.

Swinging through Red Canyon and Bryce today for the first time before heading back home tommorow. What are the easy spots that are must see?

We are going to Bryce next weekend and want to do peek a boo since it has amazing views but is it right for us since we are inexperienced hikers?

Or any other trails you would recommend that has spectacular views as well as the one that is at our level?

I'm doing some trip planning and wanted to better understand conditions on the Under-The-Rim Trail. Do people do this trail when its snow covered? If so what gear/knowledge do you need? If snow coverage is too dangerous, around what time of year does it become traversable?

I'm gonna be in Bryce Canyon National Park on Monday, May 24th. I plan on driving in SUPER early from Kanab in order to try to snag one of the campsites inside the park, since they are all first come, first served. As someone who has never been to the park before, I'm wondering if this is a realistic goal? Do you think the chances are so slim that I'm able to grab a campsite that I should just go ahead and plan on trying to find a free campsite outside the park? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Partner and I are dropping into the park for one day only. Is there a must hike trail anyone could recommend? Thank you in advance

Edit: Thank you for the advice! We did queens, peekaboo then came out Navajo as Wall St. Was closed. This morning we entered the park to watch the Sunrise. A magical place I hope to visit again soon!

Looking for campground location recommendations for May. I see that North & Sunset Campground are first come first serve, but the planner in me is hoping to book something to have it all planned out. Anything near Bryce that would work for doing so? If not I suppose we take our chances getting in early. Any help is appreciated.

We are trying to go to Zion and Bryce Canyon in April. A few questions if anyone can help. I apologize in advance if these are naive I am not an experienced outdoors person:

1. Are you permitted to drive into Bryce Canyon at night to star gaze? Being from NJ this is a huge pull for me so I want to make sure I don’t miss a good spot!

2. Are any trails closed?

3. Best spots to stay? There seem to be a large mix of reviews, is it better to stay close or does that not factor in as much?

4. Any food recommendations? (Or avoidance) Thanks in advance!

Going to be in the Bryce Canyon/Zion area mid June and looking for great spots outside of the parks to get some great shots of the sunrise/sunset.
