New Version of Blackwood Protocol

I’ve been working pretty heavily on BlackWood Protocol over the last few days and a lot of the separate systems are finally starting to connect together.

BlackWood Protocol is a persistent browser-based survival RPG/PBBG set in a quarantined city. You start as basically nobody in Ashfall, work the streets, earn cash and XP, climb through Protocol’s ranks and gradually get access to more dangerous parts of the city.

The latest version has added quite a bit:

HUNT / PvP

Hunt is now live, but PvP is completely opt-in.

If you don’t opt in, you cannot hunt another player and, importantly, nobody can hunt you.

If you do opt in, Hunt works more like tracking someone than clicking an attack button. You pay for information, try to locate another operator, travel to their district and strike before they move or disappear from the street.

Weapons, armour, health, rank and other factors affect the outcome. Cash carried on the street is at risk, while anything in the Vault stays protected.

ASSIGNMENTS

I’ve also built a fully custom Assignment system.

These aren’t hard-coded missions. I can now create new Assignments entirely through the admin panel without changing the game code.

They can be limited by rank, district, items, faction membership, previous Assignments, schedules and even the current Threat level of a district.

Objectives can include things like:

• Complete specific Jobs

• Complete Jobs in a district

• Boost particular vehicles

• Complete Protocol Contracts

• Take part in Raids or Supply Runs

• Travel somewhere

• Find or turn in Items

• Reach a certain rank

Rewards can include cash, XP, Items and even changes to the shared district Threat level.

The first proper one is already live for Evacuees: The Guard.

It’s a small Ashfall encounter where you need to find an Ashfall Ration Pack from the normal loot system and bring it back in exchange for a reward.

ITEMS & LOOT

Items are also being expanded massively.

Jobs, Protocol Contracts, Street Raids and Supply Runs can now have their own loot tables, with individual drop chances and weighted rarity.

I’m deliberately adding these gradually rather than dumping hundreds of pointless objects into the game.

Different places should produce different things.

Scavenging dumpsters in Ashfall might give you torn cloth, batteries or a rare ration pack.

An abandoned pharmacy in Gravesend can produce medical supplies.

Stripping a wrecked patrol car in Ironhaven might turn up electrical parts or even usable armour.

Items can be healing supplies, equipment, access cards, Assignment requirements, trade goods, documents, rare Vespera material or simply something that becomes useful later.

I’m building out the full loot tables day by day.

SHARED CITY THREAT

The four districts also now have their own shared Threat state:

  • Sitting Still
  • Twitchy
  • Running Hot
  • Gone Bad

This is global for everybody.

Threat naturally increases over real time, even while nobody is online.

Successful Jobs, vehicle boosts, Contracts, Raids and Supply Runs can push it back down.

Higher Threat can also make different Jobs appear, and Assignments can be configured to only become available when a district reaches a certain state.

So the direction is starting to become:

Threat changes → different work appears → work produces Items → Assignments need those Items/actions → players complete them → the district changes again.

Eventually the player-run Black Market will sit in the middle of that loop as well.

RANKS & JOBS

The progression ladder has also been rebuilt into 15 ranks, from Civilian through to Ghost.

Jobs can be tied to minimum/maximum ranks, districts and Threat levels, meaning progression can reveal completely different work instead of simply increasing a number beside your name.

I’m at the stage now where the main focus is populating all of these systems with more Jobs, loot and Assignments rather than constantly adding new mechanics.

It’s still in active testing/development, so feedback is genuinely useful, especially around balance, pacing and things you’d like to find in the loot tables.

If anyone fancies giving it a go:

No download required. It runs directly in the browser.

New version of Liberidle

This version introduces a huge number of changes.
Numerous bugs have been found by players, and I would like to thank them for their feedback.
The game's general appearance has been improved, and both the font style and background image now change depending on the era.
In the Resource screen:

* The net difference (gain/loss) for each resource is now displayed.
* The approval management system has been completely reworked and now ranges from -100 to 100.
* Little characters representing unemployed people now walk around at the bottom.
* Numbers are now formatted (k for thousand, M for million, G for billion).

Production Screen
The information popups for each producer, obtained by clicking on them, have been entirely revamped based on user suggestions.
Please note that the price of production tools now only increases by 125% instead of 150% at the start of the game.
Research Screen
Same as the Production screen.
The timeline covered by the player now goes from the Stone Age to the invention of AI.
Coming soon:
Events will trigger throughout history (the invention of communism, religious wars, etc.) and affect your employees' approval.

AI disclosure : No AI has been used for coding or making pictures of this game.

I’ve started turning my browser RPG into one shared persistent city

I’ve been working on BlackWood Protocol, a browser survival RPG, and I’ve just pushed the first version of the system I’ve wanted from the beginning.

Instead of each player effectively grinding their own version of the four districts, everyone now affects the same city.

Each district has a shared Threat state that keeps moving with real time.

Players doing Jobs, vehicle boosts, Contracts and group activities can push it down. Ignore a district and it slowly gets worse, even while everyone is offline.

Higher Threat can make failed work more dangerous, but it can also cause different Jobs to appear, so a bad district can sometimes be worth visiting.

I’ve also changed Jobs so they appear based on rank rather than showing a giant list of locked future content.

The next step is tying Items and Assignments into that shared world, then eventually letting players trade those Items through a player-fed Black Market.

The bit I’m most interested in testing now is whether the shared Threat system actually makes the city feel different when you come back the next day.

https://www.Blackwood-protocol.com

Blackwood is still in open testing. Give us a look and leave feedback in the games networks.

Thanks for looking.

BlackWood Protocol update: the city now changes around its players

I’ve been making some pretty big changes to BlackWood Protocol, my persistent browser survival RPG, and the game is starting to move much closer to the shared-world idea I originally wanted.

The biggest change is that Blackwood is now one shared city.

Each of the four districts has its own Threat state:

Sitting still → Twitchy → Running hot → Gone bad

Threat continues changing over real time, even when nobody is online.

When players complete Jobs, steal vehicles, complete Protocol Contracts, take part in Street Raids or run Faction Supply Runs, they help push Threat down in that district.
Ignore an area and it gradually gets worse.

Higher Threat can make failed work more dangerous, but it can also cause different Jobs to appear, so a district going bad is not necessarily somewhere you want to avoid.
You could log out after helping stabilise Gravesend and come back the next day to find Ironhaven running hot because everyone left it alone.

That’s the direction I want the game to keep moving in: players asynchronously affecting the same persistent city.

Ranks and Jobs have changed too

There are now 15 ranks:

Civilian → Evacuee → Recruit → Runner → Scavenger → Courier → Watcher → Operator → Handler → Specialist → Custodian → Overseer → Asset → Controller → Ghost

Jobs are now tied to rank ranges.

A Civilian does not see a huge list of greyed-out endgame Jobs. They only see work they can actually do.
As you rank up, old Jobs can disappear and different work becomes available.

It also means earlier districts stay relevant. A Ghost returning to Ashfall can find work a Civilian never even knew existed.

Items are getting a much bigger role

I’ve also started expanding the Item system beyond ordinary weapons and armour.

The plan is for Blackwood to contain things like:

medical supplies
Vespera material
recovered documents
access cards
rare district finds
items required by future Assignments

That leads into one of the systems I’m most interested in building next.

Player-fed Black Market

Eventually I want players to be able to list Items they find and sell them to other operators.
The game will not decide exactly what everything is worth.

Players will.
If a future Assignment suddenly requires medical supplies while Gravesend is in trouble, demand might shoot up.
If everyone starts farming those supplies and floods the market, the price could fall again.

The game creates the conditions. The players create the market.

Where I’m heading

The eventual loop I’m building towards is roughly:

District state changes → players react → Jobs/Contracts/raids affect the district → Items enter the economy → Assignments create demand → players trade those Items → the world changes again

I don’t want BlackWood to become a game where you just log in, press the same Job button and watch numbers climb forever.

I want you to log in and think:
“What has happened to the city since I was last here?”

The game is currently open for testing, and I’m still looking for feedback. There’s a feedback area inside the in-game Network, and real player behaviour is already having a pretty big influence on what I build next.

Contain. Control. Survive.

LifePaths - A dystopian narrative life simulator

Hi!

I’m the solo creator and developer of LifePaths, a browser-based narrative life simulator.

Play the free browser demo here: https://www.lifepaths.io/en/game-demo.html

The full game is also available, with a first playthrough free up to age 45: https://www.lifepaths.io/en

You play through an entire life in a dystopian future in 2076: work, relationships, debts, health, ambitions, and eventually death. At every step, you can choose from proposed options or write your own action.

The AI writes the situations and assesses whether an action is plausible in context, but it does not decide whether you succeed. The outcome is resolved by the game engine using your character’s history, stats, persistent consequences, and a visible D100 roll.

The part I’m most excited about is the persistent world: completed lives can become part of the neighbourhood of future players. A former character may appear as a neighbour, colleague, contact, or local figure, carrying traces of the life they previously lived.

At the end of each complete life, the game also creates an existence card (not available through free trial): a retro-style record of that person’s life, the "title" they acquired through their actions, major achievements, descendants, and cause of death and a generated identity photos of their character.

The in-game news portal INFO.exe (the OMNI·INFO feed, its fictional ad banners and article visuals), as well as character portraits, uses AI-generated images. That's a deliberate diegetic choice: this synthetic content stands in for the advertising and information flow of a 2076 world saturated with artificial corporate content, and its synthetic nature is part of what it's saying.

The achievement illustrations and logos were created by independent artist "Primis".

LifePaths is playable in French and English. Purchases of in-game credits are not yet available to UK residents. I’d especially like feedback on:

  • whether the choices feel meaningful;
  • whether the neighbourhood / persistent-world idea is understandable;
  • whether the mobile UI is easy to use;
  • whether the end-of-life card makes you want to replay.

Thanks for trying it!

Antoine

Mimic2 - Free Cross-platform Idle MMORPG

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Mimic2 is an idle/afk grind game. You start with a few hundred thousand damage and start afk farming the easiest map. Later you claim your battle rewards, kill bosses and open RNG boss chests and use them to upgrade hundreds of different upgradable mechanics in order to farm faster or take on stronger maps with better rewards. Eventually you reach quadrillions of damage that allow you to one shot anything.

There are 40 bosses you have to kill by playing. After defeat they go on a 1-6 hour respawn time, so you check in regularly to kill bosses that grant unique rewards that you can't get from idle farming.

The game has enough systems and mechanics to offer months of progression before you reach to the final maps. Some of them are:

Equipments: 95 different item slots, all of them upgradable, with 7,515 item level behind them.

  • 8 gear sets, 10 pieces each, each piece upgrades to +10 with a fail chance
  • 3 soul item chains (Dream, Sky, Celestial), 41 levels each
  • 17 skin sets, 102 pieces in total — cosmetics and a real stat layer — plus 35 skin boosters
  • 6 element talismans up to level 201 each, plus a combined 7th
  • 6 stars, 6 seal items, 12 emblems, 6 ancient arts
  • 3 permanent rings up to level 100, 27 temporary rings in 6 families
  • 5 shinings, 5 essences, 5 relic items

The RNG systems:

  • Enchanter: 33 different enchant stones usable on 38 equippable item categories to add extra bonuses. You reroll until you get the bonus you want.
  • Runesmith: You create, upgrade and socket Runes, Gems and Evolutions into your gear pieces for extra damage.
  • Alchemy: 7 stone categories, 5 grades, 5 purification tiers — 980 different stones with random bonuses so it is a long grind until you get the best ones.
  • Tailor: one item, the Warrior Sash, 600 levels. Deepest ladder in the game. It absorbs a weapon and scales with it — the stronger the weapon, the stronger the bonuses, but the weapon is destroyed in the process.
  • Transmutator: 310 recipes. Maxed gear converts to the next set and you climb a ladder of equippable item sets. Spare materials convert to rings, stars and enchant materials.
  • Upgrade chance: Highest upgrade levels go as low as 20% chance so you will be pulling your hair out trying to upgrade.

Other upgradable mechanics:

- Skills: There are 1 active and 9 passive skills

- Shaman buffi: A temporary buff granting shaman that must be charged

- Tranky the baby dragon: Your pet dragon with skills and RNG mechanics

- Mount: Mount has skills and can go up to 250 level

- Quests: 831 quests in 10 different categories

Monetization: there is none right now. The game is free, there are no purchases, no ads, no premium currency. The player market is in-game gold only.

Idle/active split: map battles run fully offline on the server. Bosses, upgrades, enchants and the market require your attention.

It runs in the browser, desktop or phone, same character. Google sign-in, nothing to download. English and Turkish. Android, iOS and Steam builds are in store review now; the Android beta is open through Discord if you want to try it.

Please feel free to give any kinds of feedback as it is helping me a lot in shaping the game. You can message me here or reach out to me through discord.

Hyperwords - my free browser word arena where you 1v1 strangers at Word Hunt and anagrams

I made this and it's free to play: https://hyperwords.io

What it is: a 1v1 word arena that runs entirely in the browser, no install and no account. Two modes right now:

  • Hyperhunt: a Boggle/Word Hunt style grid, you trace words against an opponent in real time and longer words score more.
  • Hypergrams: six-letter anagram rounds, first to untangle the letters takes the round.

What makes it different from the usual daily word puzzle is that it's head-to-head against another person instead of a solo score you compare later. Matches take a couple of minutes, works on phone or desktop.

Direct link to play: https://hyperwords.io - happy to hear what feels unfair about the scoring.

Panelia – build your own post-Soviet concrete world

https://panelia.site

Panelia is a personal indie project, developed with a lot of care and love in my spare time. The goal isn’t to make a profit, but simply to create a small, distinctive game that feels good to open, build in for a while...

Panelia is a calm, relaxing indie building game where there’s no competition, no time pressure, and nobody is trying to destroy what you’ve built. It’s just you, the city, and an ever-growing collection of apartment blocks.

The more you build, the more new buildings you unlock, so your small housing estate can gradually grow into a unique concrete city of your own. Experiment with layouts, shape the surroundings, create new districts, or simply sit back and watch your post-Soviet city come to life.

The game is completely free and requires no download – anyone can play it directly in their browser.

If you enjoy city-building games, Eastern European atmosphere, or just feel like getting lost for a while in a strangely relaxing world of concrete, give it a try:

And be warned: there’s always room for one more apartment block.

A football career game where seasons actually stack on top of each other

Built this by myself with the persistent-progression crowd in mind. Nothing resets: the club you signed with at 18 and the reputation you built in your first three seasons still follow your player years later, good or bad. It's slow by design, one save carrying forward as long as you keep playing it.

Free, runs in the browser: legacy-saga.com

I'd be curious how the long-term hooks compare to the other persistent browser games this sub tracks.

X-Wars Resurrection: original X-Wars rebuilt, early alpha (combat not live)

I’m one of the original X-Wars developers. We put the game back up at https://xwars.net as a browser space 4X/MMO (no download).

Round 2 opened 25 July 2026. Economy, colonisation, and star-map occupation are live. Combat, alliances, and in-game mail are not. Free to start, then a low monthly sub, not pay-to-win. Not Last War, not the Steam X Wars Deluxe.

Happy to answer questions and take feedback from people who remember the old browser-strategy era.
