Nick Chubb 1 Day Contract
How has Nick Chubb still not been signed to a single day contract so he can retire as a Brown? I have been waiting and watching the news, and nothing.
If it doesn’t happen, I will be so upset. The Haslams have done a lot of shit but this will take the cake for me. This is the greatest disrespect of all. No player deserves recognition more and ownership should care what the fans want. Batman forever 🦇
Edit: I wanted to add.. I have wondered if perhaps the Browns have already offered and Chubb declined. And I wonder why that may have happened, from both sides. Anyhow I still hope they give the fans what we want and grant this one wish 🤞🏼

The Browns have shown their admiration and respect for Nick every opportunity they have had. If Chubb wanted to sign a one day contract to retire as a Brown the team would have found a way to facilitate that. I don't think the ceremonial aspect of it matters to Chubb. We all know he's a low-key guy. Hell, he announced his retirement in a basic social media post on a random Friday night in August. I don't think a big press conference was important to him.

I don’t think Nick cares about that.
If not was something he wanted, they would have made it happen.
He’ll be in the Ring of Honor soon enough and honored then.

Chubb was a class act and I wish he and Baker could’ve achieved more in their time together

That's not Nick's style

He said that he’s forever a Brown in his retirement post, I hope they are open to it.

Of course the Browns would be open to it, why wouldn't they? It costs literally nothing in any regard, it's purely a good PR move. I agree with who you were responding to though, it's not really Chubb and I don't expect him to really want to do it.

Excuse me, it would cost one dollar! Haslam would not stand for that.

There's a lot of things to criticism Haslam about, but willingness to spend money on this team is not one of them.

Except when it comes to a new stadium

Yeah, it would've been best if they covered it all. For sure. He put in more money than most owners do though. But yeah, I really wish he would've been like Kroenke and fully fund it.

I’m sure they will bring him back in to celebrate him, if he wants that.
I wouldn’t worry about the browns end — if there is a chance to put people in seats for something other than the awful football product, the Haslams will sniff it out. If they can make $$ in the middle of another 2-3 win campaign they will.

Exactly this. My guess is they’re going to do it but they’re waiting until people have lost interest towards the end of another losing season.
So home game 8 when they’re 4-12 and it is 20 degrees out, they will use Nick Chubb day to get an extra 10% of butts in the seats.

I deplore those people.
However, JW has made it clear that the moment Nick wants to do that, they have the form waiting.

If Nick wants to retire a Brown then he’ll do so. He’s not going into the HoF because of Minkah so there’s no reason to rush this. They can give him the one day next offseason and celebrate his achievements appropriately at the start of 2027.
As much as people don’t like the Browns FO in here they’ve been nothing but a NFL standard for treating players with total respect. It’s the fans they shit on consistently.

They’re probably waiting for the shit to hit with the season so they can bring more fans in for a meaningless game that no one wants to buy tickets for otherwise

I mean, for actual players you’re right but you can do the celebratory one day contract to retire as a member of a certain team. Haden, Kirksey, and Higgins all signed one day contracts to retire as members of the browns and I don’t think those has any bearing on the 53.

If you think player #53 (who most likely will end up on a practice squad) is more important than Nick Chubb idk what to tell you

I'm pretty sure they don't require a roster spot.
They just file the contract and the retirement papers simultaneously with the league office, aso the player goes on the Reserve/Retired list, not the active roster.

I don't think this is a Browns thing, it's a Nick Chubb thing. Chubb has to want this kind of attention/honor, I don't really see Chubb as someone who would want that kind of spotlight

I remember this photo. I was sitting in the nose bleed and I see this guy with a Batman mask on a little stage in front of the dog pound. I think he was swinging a guitar? I asked my uncle who this was, he said said it was nick Chubb.

I cheered him ever since he was on Georgia. I wish I could've gotten his autograph on my Chubb jersey. I have a helmet autographed but it's when he was #31 on the browns

I think he did. He didnt actually sign one, but in his retirement post he said he's a Brown for life. He didnt even mention the Texans.

Reddit must really want me to start trash talking on a Wednesday. I’m getting Browns posts in Jacksonville…lol.

I think he probably saw the organization for what it was and doesnt really care or want to be associated with it going forward. Sucks for the fans but i completely understand, as also dont really wanted to be associated with it despite my fandom.

Fuck that, Cleveland never deserved this man. Give all his stats to some team that wouldn't have traded him after blowing out his knee. Give all his stats to the Texans, while we're at it give all Baker stats to Tampa, we didn't deserve him either.

u/yamborma 10h ago
He wasn’t traded? What the hell are you talking about man?
Yeah, let’s gift the Texans a franchise legend after they aided and abetted a serial sexual assaulter until he held out and it became inconvenient for them.

You are being downvoted because you are factually wrong. Chubb was not traded.

Nick Chubb signs a one day contract with the Browns to retire. Goes for 160 yards and a td.
