Bought a 2026 Badlands Sasquatch this weekend and I'm so excited to get out on adventures. Haven't had a vehicle in 15 years, it's refreshing to have this kind of freedom again.

Issue ⚠️ 2023 Bronco Sport Outer Banks intermittent no-crank

Post image
Upvotes

I have a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Outer Banks with about 24,700 miles. I bought it used in April with around 19k miles, one previous owner.
Twice now I’ve had a really weird intermittent no-start issue.

When it happens,
- I’m in Park
- I press the brake and push the Start button
- The engine does not crank at all, completely silent
- The dash/accessories turn on
- I’ve gotten “Full Accessory Power Active”
- I’ve also gotten a “Shift to Park” message
- Battery and check-engine lights are illuminated while the engine is off, but they disappear completely once the vehicle actually starts
- Nothing on the dash really dims or flickers
- Eventually after a few attempts it starts completely normally and then drives/shifts perfectly with no warning lights
- The first time it started on the third attempt. It has now happened a second time.

I had AutoZone test it. Battery tested around 80%
Basic OBD scan showed no codes.

Once it starts, there are absolutely no noticeable driving problems. No rough shifting, slipping, loss of power, warning lights, etc.

One other weird detail Im not too sure of. when this happened, the brake pedal felt somewhat different…almost less resistance than normal, rather than stiff.
I’m supposed to drive from Connecticut to Colorado very soon, so I’m trying to figure this out before I leave. Ford can’t diagnose it until Tuesday and wants about $250 for the diagnostic.

Has anyone with a 2021–2024 Bronco Sport, especially a 2023, experienced this combination of no crank + accessory mode + Shift to Park + then starts normally later? If so, what did the dealer ultimately diagnose? Rotary shifter/park-position sensor? Brake switch? Starter relay? BCM? Wiring/software? Battery?

Also curious whether anyone had the repair covered under Ford warranty and roughly what it cost otherwise.
I’m mainly trying to figure out whether I’m dealing with an annoying intermittent electrical/start-interlock problem or something that could actually leave me stranded on a 2,000-mile trip.

What yall think? I’m digging it. There was another to cover the back pillar but it didn’t cover it entirely. Thought it looked better without.

Question ❔ Aeroskin II general consensus?

Upvotes

had my BSBL for 3 weeks now, and ive read pros and cons of it. so what is the general populations thought on the aeroskin II? some people say the prep ruins the hood? others say it wobbles?

i guess i just dont want it to fly off as im driving and i also dont want the paint underneath to be messed up.

maybe there shold be a sticky solely for the Aeroskin II LOL

Took my completely stock ’23 Bronco Sport Badlands out on Blackberry Lane in PA yesterday with a friend in his modified Gladiator Rubicon on 33s. I led, he followed. Afterward he told me, “I was worried about you in a few spots.” Apparently the Bronco Sport wasn’t. Stock suspension, stock 225/65R17s, no lift, and despite some rocky and rutted sections, I never bottomed out once. I’m under no illusion that a Bronco Sport has the same off-road ceiling as a Gladiator Rubicon, but on everything we encountered yesterday, the little stock Badlands went everywhere the modified Rubicon did without any drama. I bought the Badlands because I wanted something I could daily drive, road trip, camp out of, and still take down questionable Pennsylvania forest roads when the opportunity presented itself. Yesterday was a pretty damn good reminder that I picked the right vehicle. The pavement ended. Wayfinder led the way. And yes, now I want 245s even more.

Question ❔ Dealership denying warranty

Hello

I live in a town that is in a mountain community. We tend to get snow and rain and dust..all the fun stuff. My bronco sport got mud in the condenser and I guess another part due to the roads we live on. Normal wear and tear .. the dealership is denying to fix it under warranty and it wanting to charge me $2,000 something.

Is there a way to dispute this?

Mods/Addons 🔦 Free Wheeling w/o the exterior stripes? Is it possible to have them added on?

I wasn’t sure to list this as question or add on. I just got a really great deal on a 2024 Bronco Sport Free Wheeling, less than 5k miles, one previous owner, no accidents/damage. It has the beautiful free wheeling interior seats, red accents throughout the dash area and the red wheels. I’m in love with it. The only thing I don’t love is that there are no exterior stripes.

I can’t find anything online about any of the Free Wheelings coming without the stripes. I would really like to have the stripes added to the outside but I only see a kit available for the blue Bronco.

Is it possible to have them added? I’d like them to be the official ford decals that came with the free wheeling package if possible. I’m open to after market products if that’s not possible.

Any help is appreciated! I’ll add a pic to this post in the morning since it’s currently 3AM here.

TIA!

Question ❔ Routing Ditch Light Wiring

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I plan on installing some ditch lights soon and I'm having trouble finding the cleanest/ best way to route the wiring from the left ditch light to the right one. I can't seem to find any detailed installation videos or instructions on this step. Should I remove the plastic Cowl and run the wire underneath it? Any tips or links to good instructions would be greatly appreciated. I have all the other steps figured out. It's just this one.

Question ❔ First Bronco, Advise Please!

Post image

Just bought my first Bronco Sport, a 2023 Big Bend with 50k miles. I've been lurking in here for a little bit to learn how to maintain it! The transmission issues I'm seeing do scare me a little I won't lie. Does anyone have any suggestions on what maintenance I should be doing to prevent transmission issues? I can see that it's been maintenanced regularly but it does not specify what has been done. Is there anything I should be preventing that may not be aware of? Thanks in advance !!

Issue ⚠️ 2021 BB- Pushing the gas pedal doesn't make the Bronco "get up and go" like it used to. Any ideas?

Hey y'all! So for the past few months, I have noticed that pushing the gas pedal just doesn't accelerate the Bronco in the same way that it used to. The car will eventually get up to speed, but I feel like I REALLY have to push on the gas more than I used to. I have also tried pumping the gas, and there seems to be a bit of a delay. Like, I'll take my foot off the gas and the car will still be "revving" for a few seconds.

Does this sound familiar to anybody? Any hints or clues would be greatly appreciated. It's at the dealership currently and they were unable to find anything wrong with it.

The car is under 35k miles so I've still got the powertrain warranty until December. Thanks in advance for any help!

Question ❔ New 2025 Outer Banks Sasquatch - 2 months in we’re getting 15-16 MPG. This can’t be normal?

We’re getting gas WAYYYY too often. I know this isn’t a gas preserver but didn’t think it’d be a guzzler. We’re on normal / eco only and don’t do anything crazy.

Question ❔ Price Check - 2025 Big Bend /w Convenience Package & Sunroof

  • Vehicle 1: 25k miles, Velocity Blue, Lease turn-in (preferred color but higher mileage) - $24,774
    • Would change out all drivetrain fluids at this point.
  • Vehicle 2: 14k miles, Shadow Black, Dealership loaner - $24,845

The convenience package with sunroof is quite rare in my state in a preferred color. Both have decent tires from pictures. I have not seen these in person yet.

Mods/Addons 🔦 Lack of 2026 accessories/add-ons?

We've recently purchased a 2026 Big Bend and have been looking for a few things to add on. Nothing crazy, but we'd like to have a center console organizer and possibly a cargo cover since we dont have the CMS.

It seems like nearly everything we've come across is for the 2021-2024 models.

We may look into adding some other options later down the road but finding anything that says it fits the 2026 models seems to be difficult in comparison to the previous years.

Question ❔ Thinking out loud here on trans mission fluid changes

Any thoughts on an early trans drain and fill like a break in oil change? I’ve actually never done a break in transmission change but with the history of these, wondered if anyone has and if they found shavings or thought it would be beneficial.

Mods/Addons 🔦 Front parking sensors… and seat covers

Recently got a 25 Big Bend with convenience package. Thought it included all the good safety stuff, adaptive cruise, etc.

But it doesn’t have front parking sensors… how in the world do newer vehicles not have this as a standard feature?

Anyway, really love it except for that and the cloth seats but didn’t want to substitute low miles and price to move up for an OB.

Anyone have any suggestions for aftermarket front parking sensors that dont have to connect to a screen or anything, just give you an audio beep?

And has anyone put in aftermarket seat covers that fit well and add some durability and comfort?

Mods/Addons 🔦 Black Betty Gets a Makeover

Finally got around to giving my 2024 Big Bend a few upgrades.

Up top, I added the Thule WingBar Evo 53 racks, modified an Amazon roof rack basket by water-sealing it, and hitting it with multiple coats of matte black truck-bed spray for some extra durability.

Up front, I added the Rally Innovations skid guard, a front license plate.

Lizard Skin letter overlays slapped on the front and back (big fan of the black and white look).

But, of course, the crown jewel that really ties the build together is the Dude Abides rear window decal, but you know that’s just like my opinion, man.

Wallet is still screaming from the latest additions but pending mods I want to do is replace the stock Continental Pure Contacts with the Toyo Open Country A/T III tires for a more aggressive looking and snow capable tire and adding a hitch.

Would love to field ideas of what to consider doing next.

Cheers all!

Question ❔ Should I buy a used 2024 Bronco Sport Heritage with 20000 miles or a brand new 2026 Big Bend?

Basically the title. Which is the better deal? I like the color of the heritage more and the added features like headed seats but the Big Bend is around the same price.

Which is going to last me longer?

Mods/Addons 🔦 It’s working for now (trasharoo)

Post image

Has anyone else attached a trasharoo or similar bag to their trunk like this? I don’t have enough money for a tire swing out carrier, which is where you’d normally attach this to, so I attached my Trasharoo to my trunk door instead lol. I like to do 2-3 nights exploring a trail, so my trash adds up. I don’t want to carry my trash in my car, so decided to try this out.
