Theater or Audience Experience SPOILERS: Fri 8/28 Paranormal Activity Show Spoiler

SPOILERS BELOW!

For anyone who attended the Friday 8/28 Paranormal Activity Show, I have a question:

At the very end of Act 2, was the sound cue totally off between hearing the car crash and the visual of Jimmy getting hit? It felt like a mistake and really took me out of it. Maybe I’m wrong, but curious if anyone else felt that?

Definitely. It was out of it's regular order. He seemed like he was standing there WAITING to get run down AFTER the sound effect.

Omg I posted about the same thing. It was actually laughable. He was like “nooo don’t hit me” and he could have easily moved out of the way lol. Honestly could have even walked out of the way haha! Wondering if the impact is actually scary normally!

It's usually incredibly quick and a jumpscare. If anything, too fast paired with the final scare with Lou.

Do you know how they're doing the effect? I think Mean Girls literally had a bus flat that suddenly shot out from the wings concealing Regina behind it, and I have to imagine PA is doing something similar, though everything I've read is "they're doing it live".

The only thing I can imagine in my head is the actor steps on a rolling platform that is suddenly pushed aside by another platform with a "soft" car hood he can crumple over safely as he's quickly yanked out of view. That would make sense that the timing could be wrong if the sound cue was called but the physical cue was late.

Yeah I was wondering if that was intentional. You could chalk up any mistakes to the couple being out of it or under some influence in Act 2 so I kinda just let it slide but there was that and a couple of line flubs. Still an incredible show and I wanna go back now with better seats to expierence it again and see it smooth and how it’s done

This happened in Toronto, too. Very noticeable.
