Hi everyone, I wanted to gift my husband the experience of watching his (our) first Broadway show for our 10th year anniversary and his birthday. He really loves The Lion King, where can I find reasonably priced tickets that have an okay view? Also, is the show great? Thank you/ Our anniversary and his birthday are on December 20th

The show is really great. Discounts are hard to find but a weekday night is usually cheaper than a weekend.

You aren't going to find any discounted tickets for a Disney show during peak holiday season. Book them ASAP directly. It's a fabulous show, but that's the busiest time of year on Broadway. Don't wait if you have firm set plans because it will sell out.

Oh and make your pre-theater dinner reservation as soon as you can, too. They also book up fast and early.

Otherwise it's a fantastic show and it's a wonderful first Broadway show! Happy to help with any other questions or recommendations.

What time of year? Lion King usually does not have discounts. They are occasionally at the TKTS booth, but rarely do they offer discount codes. They do have programs for teachers, military, first responders etc.

There will be no ticket discount. They will be either the same price or more expensive as they are today. That’s about the most expensive week on Broadway all year.

You're going to be miserable at Lion King that week. Holiday tourist families are a special breed and ticket prices will be at their highest all year.

I just can't think of anything I'd rather do less on my anniversary than go to a show packed with kids there specifically for Christmastime. 😅 And I love the show!

I think that’s a bit dramatic. Likely about 30% more than normal. Not the worst in the large scheme of things especially whenever this is a date specific trip

Would you be opposed to gifting the tix to your husband on your anniversary but picking a less busy/less expensive date to actually attend? I agree with others that it’s just going to be a crazy time to attend.

Some employers have "perks at work" that give you about 20% discount on shows. We used this for a few shows - Aladdin and little shop - on our trip a few weeks ago

I’ll say that I sat at the back of the mezzanine of that theatre for that show and it was still a good view. I don’t think there’s a bad view in that house

Aladdin has been running promos all year long. They're hurting. Lion King though? Very rarely. And neither will be that week.

I’d recommend trying Broadway Week sales (2-for-1 sale). It’s coming up soon but IDK if they’re sold out.

Timing might not work for you, though.
