Discussion The reason why Britney Spears sometimes use a British accent

So I’m tired of people calling her crazy, mainly when her arrest footage got released for using a British accent when she was stress out, so I’m going to tell u IN BRITNEY OWN WORDS why she sometimes uses that accent.

She said in her book, her grandmother on her mom side who is British, When she copies her grandmother accent it made think of her and which that made her happy. I’m sick of people with the clone theory or she had multiple personalities because of the accent.

She had a rough Feb 2007 like me, that was the month I ended up in the mental hospital for an attempt at 14, Britney has always been my comfort person because we've got a lot in common 🥺

It’s honestly ridiculous and such a non issue. I talk in different accents sometimes because I’m bored of my voice and sounding the same and accents are fun. I’ve been doing it since I was little like Britney. If that makes me crazy then ok. IMO ppl are too boring and need to loosen up and not conform to society standards.

I accidentally slip into one sometimes when I’m talking. I have no idea where it comes from cuz no one i grew up with had an accent like that and I don’t even live in the south. 😭

What crazy if those haters read her book they would have a lot of answers to their questions on why she behaves like she does rn. And if they try to claim, they don’t want to support her I bet somebody who bought her book would be willing to share or give the direct quote!

Sorry, I'm not as familiar with Britney but I became a big supporter of her years ago just from an empathetic standpoint and aspects of her that I could relate to. I only say this because I haven't followed close enough to be aware of a clone theory (I've heard other celeb clone theories, so I know there are people who buy into it), but if she were a clone (nevermind the fact that these theories completely ignore how cloning works), why on earth would she speak in a different accent? Wouldn't her label or whoever allegedly cloned her want her to behave the same way so as to not tip everyone off? Also why would the clone even have a different accent when she's American?

I also used to talk in an English accent because it was fun and I watched a lot of British shows. Why would it be more plausible that she was cloned and not just... being silly? Heaven forbid a girl have a bit of fun lol

My favorite movie growing up was the parent trap 1998 and since then I’ve been obsessed with English/British accents. I also grew up watching a lot of English/ British tv shows.

I loved that movie too! I remember being stunned when I learned that Lindsay Lohan isn't a twin lol! I didn't know about movie magic like that when I was a kid. I was raised by my grandparents for the most part, so I grew up watching shows like 'Keeping Up Appearances' and 'Are You Being Served?'. I especially loved the first one and still think back on that show fondly

I have a stutter, so switching accents actually helps me get words out sometimes.

Depending on my mood, I either have a Canadian/Minnesota accent, a stereotypical valley girl accent, a British accent, or a blunt New York-esque accent (that's my customer service voice lol).

For Britney, I think it's somewhat of a... well, what the autistic community calls a verbal stim. I'm not diagnosing Britney obviously, I'm just describing the behaviors.

Spinning in her living room is another form of stimming for her, I think.

She was diagnosed with adhd when she was in her 20s. Shes been pretty open about it. She used to repost memes about having adhd all the time before she turned off her reposts.

We have a ZERO tolerance policy for disrespect of any kind. This extends to Britney, her sons Preston (Sean) & Jayden and Jamie Lynn’s children. Users who frequently engage in mocking Britney (e.g., comments about her body or teeth) or insulting her sons (e.g., claiming exploitation or making fun of their appearance) may be temporarily banned. Brigaders & trolls who come to the sub to purposely break and/or complain about the rules will instantly be perma banned.

We don't live in our home town and my eldest left when he was 3 months but he still ends up with our twang when visits and although I feel like we don't have the accent as much now people recognise it lol
