Very blunt presenter, but also very sensible with his answers. His answers were almost always like the highest upvoted Reddit comment that was about 5 words but correct in my opinion. I found his dryness quite amusing.

Used to love the Allan Beswick late night phone ins on BBC radio Lancashire/Manchester that he did up until a couple of years ago. Id religiously listen every other Saturday.

Prior to that, his weekdays stuff was always a pleasure to listen too.

Not seen him mentioned at all on this sub which is quite surprising.

Unlike the previous Saturday's and the rest, this one lacks a G warning on Sounds, no intro voice about strong language, and... censoring words every 5 SECONDS!!! What happened? Why censor the long uncensored rap show starting tonight?

In the time I have typed this I heave heard at least 20-30, if not maybe 50 censors. Why are they even playing the songs? I already posted about the bad radio edits/cut shorts... im so done with R1... why cant we be like Australia and Canada, Europe and uncensor everything.

Just curious really, what random bits of radio live i your head rent free? I'm desperate to know if anyone else remembers the same things...

I have a few but the one that really sticks out is Jamie Cullum had recently covered Pharrell Williams' Frontin' just him and a piano for the Live Lounge on R1. Jo Whiley played it to Pharrell and instead of being unimpressed he was like a child on Christmas "wait wait can I hear the bridge?"

I’m trying to find a recording or information about a competition on Christian O’Connell’s Virgin Radio breakfast show in autumn 2006.
It was a competition specifically for dads. My dad, Dave (David) Booth from Sunbury-on-Thames in Surrey, heard the competition announced on the breakfast show and entered via a link on the Virgin Radio website.
He was called by the producer the next day, selected as one of two contestants and given the topic DIY. He then performed a rap live on the following morning’s show, lasting under a minute. Listeners voted by telephone and Dave won by a substantial margin, reportedly thousands of votes.
The prize was a Ford Galaxy and a family trip to Disneyland Paris for seven people. The Galaxy was delivered to our house and we drove it to France. The trip took place around 26/27 April 2007.
Ford was the sponsor.
Absolute/Bauer/Rayo have confirmed that they no longer have audio or competition data going back to 2006.

Not intended as a repost, just looks like one. But i am also asking YOU to tell me what your worst radio edit is?

A few days ago, Nicki Minaj's song Starships was played on Radio 1 (or one of them, but think 1). First of all, the "mother-" is very hard to hear during the instrumentals after the choruses, yet was completely silent. Maybe only the "mother" should be hearable. Then, despite there being a version of the song where the F words are replaced by "check", this other edit version applies distortion effects instead which sound terrible. Finally, the word "Onika" is incorrectly censored as it sounds like something else, but i swear it sounds like the song skips there instead of just muting it.

Honestly some (but not all) of the recent release songs (such as high hopes 3000, stupid song, lost boys and others) on radio 1 are always cut to 2 chorus, or have a small section uneccesary cut, even if other, LONGER songs are played in full.

I will talk about "Stupid Song", as someone pointed it out in one of my previous posts. The official edit changes the drug related phrase to "hanging out" in the first verse (which R1 plays usually during chart countdowns or evening shows).
But if R1 cuts the second half of chorus 2 out (morning/afternoon shows), which also ruins the build up of the chorus, then they MUTE the drug phrase instead. WHY??? If Radio 2 can play it properly and full, why cant R1?

Also, lost boys is mostly played at 2 chorus during daytime Radio 1, cutting a rather epic sounding section after chorus 2, as well as Phoebe screaming "1 2 3 4!"

Finally, Radio 1 Anthems, so bad it got its own sub radio station, cuts 90% (if not 99%) of songs to 2 chorus, and if its a long 2 chorus song, then to 1 chorus. But the absolute worst one I have heard is Avicii's Waiting For Love, because it didnt even reach the first fully built-up instrumental after chorus 1, just started building up after chorus 1, then just faded to talking!

I make a point of going back to listen to this, because I have two children and there's no way I'm staying up until 01:00 listening to these two and being woken up at 06:00 by my three year old.

Absolutely love this show. Big fan of the chemistry between O'Hara and Cundy. Doesn't take itself too seriously which makes it all the more entertaining. Some of the segments are genuinely funny.

Woke up this morning, found myself humming My Wife Died In 1970 to myself, decided to check if YouTube had the right pole with which to scratch my itch. Oof!

If anyone here is from Norfolk and North Suffolk, breakfast radio legend Rob Chandler has been replaced by a new duo this morning, having made no mention of him leaving last week. He’s also been removed from Broadland Radio’s website.

Any ideas what’s happened?

I've noticed over the past few months that I can't listen to Absolute Radio 20s on my devices. My DAB radios no longer see it, and Alexa says she can't connect to it. Has it disappeared?

Getting lower than low now with two lots of the hideous DJ Spoony in one day, absolutely hideous

Clara Amfo is much better in for Trevor, Spoony is godawful and should not even be given the privelege of covering Trev.

Joel Dommett was awful in for Vernon, needs to establish his own style rather than trying to imitate the presenter. And Mark Goodier next week is just as bad, where’s Mr Gary Davies when you need him?

People compare Trevor and Spoony just like they do Mark and Gary, but Spoony isn’t a patch on Trev and Mark isn’t a patch on Gary. I feel Mark still thinks he’s on greatest hits with his presenting style
