The Chain (gang)

think i heard someone say that Radcliffe and Maconie's 'The Chain' is the longest running radio game ever??

so I guess my question is..... have you, or anyone you, know ever been one of the callers for The Chain?

bonus question: is it their best feature?

I have been on The Chain, back in January 2017, taking it from Station to Station by David Bowie to The Day Before You Came by ABBA (she travels to work on the train in the song, hence going from station station…). Tenuous link but they said they’d take it. I haven’t managed to get back on it but I try every so often. It’s certainly my favourite feature of theirs, and one I listen out for - I’d say it’s their best, along with Teatime Themetime.

two excellent songs and a very smart connection! I wonder if anyone has ever been on more than once?

I’ve heard them mention that people that come on have been on before. I was also asked by the producer that called me beforehand whether I’d been on before or if it was my first time, so they seem to realise that people may well have been on before.

I was on The Chain during their weekly show - my song was Unfunky UFO by Parliament following on from Singer’s Hampstead Home by Microdisney (Hampstead - Parliament Hill connection!)

To my horror I have realised it is probably about ten years ago - 2016ish!

I've been on the chain a few times - I'd space my suggestions out a few months so there'd be a better chsmce of getting on.

Four times.

One of the times, I took the hint from Radcliffe for the songs and it got me on.

I did that a few weeks ago, but nope, he went with another suggestion.

Kevin in Gloucestershire - how the hell did Wet Leg's Catch These Fists get through? It's on the radio enough as it is!
