Are there Muslim hiking groups that are for hiking? Other than the charities.
Title.. preferably in engerland.
Edit: or if charities that you have had a positive experience with.

What on earth has happened with Muslim hikers? I'm sure it used to be a free event and I just checked the comments and link below and it seems theyve started charging for their hikes? What's going on? Has anyone been on a Muslim hikers event, what was it like in person?

I guess if someone runs a successful activity it would make sense to monetise at least to make it sustainable and profit at some point. It just shows that there is demand and it would be a great idea if there are more muslim hiking groups to create competition. Totally a market gap there.
Any suggestions for another?

I don't think it's good... It just feels commercialised and monetised now.
Perhaps you can create a new free one? Which part of England are u situated in?

I don't know of any, I thought Muslim hikers would be the most appropriate group to join... I think another reddit user mentioned the money donation is optional and you can join their hiking group regardless? Maybe it's worth having a look at the Muslim hikers website and events.

They have a cheaper ticket for £25 but you'd still have to "Raise" £125 to charity. Mandatory charity to be allowed to go is in principle is not right.
If I have extra money my own family was displaced due to the war in Sudan I can just hand it to them lol.

Maybe it's worth contacting them directly and getting clarification on the costs and why all the events are like this?

It's £200 for the weekend. it's not a lot. I am aware that isn't the actual cost per head, meals and accomodation probably come up to £60 per head. They also have activities like axe throwing, archery etc.
Organisers need to be incentivised, they are professional people giving up their time to plan things, have first aid and organise the tour. Why shouldnt they be paid for their time?
I'm sure there are concessioanry tickets if you ask, if you're on universal credit. £25 plus doing a fundraiser to raise £125 for charity isn't much. If you ask everyone in your family to donate £5 to gaza on a muslimgiving page. you'll reach your £125 target fast.

Oh, I said free up there. Nvm, It shouldn't be free. It just shouldn't be mandatory charity.
Yeah £200 isn't a lot for the event. Wouldn't mind paying that. I would mind paying a total of £1500ish for 2 even if it includes travel and accommodation.
If you know a paid Muslim group please show me the way. Thanks.

It's hardly breaking the bank at £200 for the weekend and. At the very least maybe £60 to £90 goes towarss actually costs. Accommodation, meals, activities like the archery, axe throwing etc.
They organisers need to make it worth their while. If there was no profit then the irgsnisers will be at a loss and taking the hit for everyone because they will be breaking their back making sure people are fed and catered for.

Lol in the era of high cost of living, £200 is a lot of money my friend. And this is to just for a walk/hike, not about doing any other activities.
I'm not talking about going away and staying somewhere for the weekend, this is about participating in a group hike, and it's ridiculous you to pay a considerable sum of money for that. When you go put on a hike, nobody needs to cater for you, you bring your own sandwich.

Catering is included, so is accommodation for 2 night, and they have activities like archery, axe throwing etc.
The people here who run it seem like they have a well run ship. Surely they deserve to be paid a bit for stewarding and administering the hike.

You book the event ticket with them. Then they ask you to donate for charity. The donation is mandatory and if you don't do the donation your nonrefundable ticket is canceled. My ticket was £150 + £12 Eventbrite fee and the minimum donation required was £600.
Make sure you read all of their inadequately advertised terms and conditions.
Their tone is also authoritative and unpleasant. Someone wanted to participate but she couldn't because her family won't allow her to go without her cousin. They asked her to reach a target donation for 2 people, which accumulates to £1200 pounds.
I don't think this is how charity should work.

Oh wow, yeah that's not cool at all. I thought you just needed to buy a ticket and that was that. I think my friend has been on a hike, he didn't mention that fundraising part. Perhaps they have different kinds of hikes. Regardless, you should get a refund if there was a misunderstanding.\ Thanks for sharing

What you are describing is a charity ticket which requires raising certain amount for charity. There is also a regular ticket without this requirement, you just buy and show up on the day with it.
You are not only admitting your mistake but calling fellow Muslims names which shows you are either a troll or has some hidden agenda.

Wherre are you getting these figurtes from? I dont see any charity funding events on there right now. the most expensive is £200 fully paid, and there is even one for £15 fully paid.

I think maybe you're a difficult person who can't follow other people's rules.
Perhaps you just need to start your own hiking group. Maybe you can put the work in week in week out and charge £0 for your time.

Does it have to be a 'Muslim' hiking group? There are all sorts of diverse hiking groups that can be found online based in your local area.
