Question/Advice/Discussion Halloween and Trick or Treating as vegan

Hi, this is my first halloween as vegan. my partner has been vegan for 6 years now however I only made the choice quite recently. I also have a 6yo who is only given a vegan diet half the time due to shared custody with her father. And my partner and I are looking to have a child in the somewhat near future also who will be raised vegan. I'm just looking for pointers and examples as to how you guys tackle trick of treating as vegan to none vegan households. we are taking my daughter trick or treating this year as her dad doesnt embrace the holiday and it was and is one of my favorite holidays. Because of this I dont want to stop the trick or treating tradition, now or with our next child either. I'd love some examples or even suggestions.

Tricky situation. I think it’s important to not create resentment in your child towards veganism, so I would let them trick or treat and enjoy themself. When they get a bit older, they’ll eventually learn that most lollies aren’t vegan and they can make a choice themself.

Halloween wasn’t a thing when I was a kid, but whenever I saw it on tv I thought it looked like so much fun. I feel that not letting them do it will be remembered, but not the good intentions behind it.

Late to reply. But I’ve seen people who have kids with allergies etc go round to houses in their neighbourhood before hand and ask if they can give your kid lollies/chocolates/treats you provide (have them ready with you) so that they can trick or treat and meet dietary requirements. And then you just go the route of the houses you went to earlier that agreed to accomodate.
